Dear Project Cars player!

A very warm welcome in our community!

As you may know, Project Cars has been developed for a long time now, and the Devs did their best to offer you the best SIM RACING experience ever,
regardless of your platform.
There are Platformspecific Subforums for each of them!

Unfortunately, problems, bugs and questions occur, and the Dev's dont have the time, to answer all of these ;)
Now WE, the WMD Community comes into play.
As you may know, we have been able to play/test and develop the game since 4 years now and we are a big community full of car enthusiasts!
We know quite a lot about pCars already and are probably able to sort out a lot of "problems".
Don't be

FURTHERMORE: Try to describe you problem as detailed as possible, without being too cheeky (that means no WTF F****...!!!), a post should contain for example.

When re assisgning controls like gears and kers i the settings menu i get a message saying not all required controls are assigned, please help, dont know if there is some other settings but as a track fan my clio cup doesnt slide out like the game ones is there an option for softer steering?

Have you changed "Look back"?

At first try to lower the steering sensitivity to 10-20% and raise the Controller Filtering Sensitivity to about 0%-20%.
You also could set Driving Assists Allowed to REAL if you use a controller. Allot of real racing cars have certain assists on by default.

i was wondering if anybody can help me i brought pc off the xbox one store and the game is unplayable the steering locks to 1 side randomly and when im on a straight it fells like im fighting an invisible force just to keep the car on the track.

That's a terrible attitude. You could provide some questions first as there are many helpful and experienced Project CARS people here that will help you get it working correctly (which it should).

Please be a bit more civil from here, we're happy to help if you keep the tone decent.

Hello guys,

I would like to ask few questions regarding certain imperfections or missing features in the game. I would like to know whether SMS have plans to address them in the future and what is the current state or priority of fixing them. Since some of these are a tiny details, I'm not sure whether SMS are even aware of it and plan to fix it. But I believe that people who bought triple 4k G-Sync screens and two NVIDIA Titan Z cards connected in SLI solely for the purpose of maximal enjoyment of virtual cars in Project CARS would heavily appreciate it.

Disabling drops of water only on lenses of around-the-track cameras
It's great we have these water effects, but that does not mean it have to be everywhere. Real-life cameras have their lenses protected from rain drops. (www.versa-flex.com/images/443_TV3_Studio_Camera_2.jpg)

Showroom or virtual 3D garage in the game
In early builds, there was a 3D garage (http://abload.de/img/pcars2013-07-0622-33-5hsvp.jpg). In later builds, there was a "dev note" in car selection menu that teased something like a showroom. Proper masking of car lights and other effects

Smooth motion when the camera is making a turn
Why is it impossible during gameplay to look around the car so smoothly as in photo mode? (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=flcB_IInDAw) The current choppy and non-smooth movements look ugly. Is it something on purpose that I do not understand?

Proper reflections of (brake) lights on the dry surface seems exaggerated
It makes an impression it is wet. Yet it is dry (https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/uA2k-xaxClZJ5b6Ft6Q23gUam9JWw8P45rN9979ZZJE?feat=directlink). It can have negative impact on gameplay.

Improved smoke effects
Although smoke effects got better in latest builds, it still look strange, artificial. Smoke particles in other games look much more realistic.

Sloppy camera in the start of the race

The timing of the fade in effect/HDR compensation is wrong. More sophisticated cockpit animations
I'm aware that manual shifting animations can't be as brief as the shifting itself, since animation take some time to be performed, while shifts needs to be registered by the game immediately in order to reduce input lag. I would love to see optional "predictive preparations for manual shifts" system (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8JgJq1jSzY&feature=youtu.be&t=1m26s) to prevent sloppy shift animations. It is very well visible on this video. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxiqKw4oISw) On only one sligthly-strange-looking situation, there are dozens of cases when predictive shifting looks absolutely natural and far better in comparison with pCARS.

In this video of build 887 (http://youtu.be/hXLr1eX5ZA8) at 2:25, mainly the rapid and multi-level downshifting looks absolutely terrible. If the hand stay on the gear stick for some more miliseconds, it won't hurt anyone and will look much more natural.

The same video at time 1:26: the steering wheel of LMP2 prototype car has barely 500 degrees, yet the driver tend to raise his hands in utmost positions, which is unrealistic.

First - the game itself rocks! But the Oculus Rift support must be a lot better!
I think I read somewhere that GUI for VR are on the way - and that I like!

But I want more from replays and "ingame-videos". Today they are at most "ok".

Examples:

When a race starts, the camera is fixed, so when you move your head the world is "following you". Feels very strange. The camera can still move in its position but where the "lens" is pointing - should be handled by the rift.

Replays: Same here as described above. Never force the camera in a direction... For us in VR it's a perfect way for us to get ill and puke...

Replays: I want more alternatives. Helicopter-view, passenger-view (when it's possible. Would be great to be a passenger and know the driver...;), close-to-left-front-wheel and so on...

Garage: With VR and the games so well made cars I really want the possibility to "walk-around" the cars. Take a closer look at all the details, look under the car and under the hood. Please!!!! I am a car-junkie - I know.

I bought this game primarily on the basis of it having Oculus Rift support.

As far as I can see there is no 3D VR support in the in-game menus. Because I have to start the Rift before I start the game, this means the two halves of the menu overlap each other when viewed through the head mounted display and can't be navigated through. The only way to get into the driving seat is by doing a 'dry run' of the keystrokes required to get to a race using a monitor, close down the game and fire it up through the Rift, playing back those keystrokes. Once in game the 3D VR seems fine (although because it's so difficult to get to I've barely tested it).

To this end the VR experience is effectively broken, and Project CARS should really think about pulling any mention of Oculus from their promotional material until they fix it. I've just paid full whack for a game that promised VR gameplay, and it's not there.

Sadly I might have to see if I can get a refund, not sure if this is possible with Steam. Quite annoyed and very disappointed.

yes mate ive updated my pad still having the same problem ive tried changing the force feedback to what you said and im still getting random steerink lock to the left or right sometimes the steering feels delayed and then it will be ultra sensitive.

It's a known bug that is under investigation. We all need a little patience in these very early days will the teething issues are worked out. SMS is quite committed to supporting the game fully with patches, DLC and updates.

I'm really struggling with the FFB settings for a DFGT. Are you sure you haven't overcomplicated the FFB options?? There are two ways to manipulate this - in game and in menu options under controller.

My main gripes are:

Wheel pulling left to right at centre position (like GTR EVO used to).
Lack of detail in the FFB
No rumble or FFB change over rumble strips.

Wheel pulling left to right at centre is kind of spoiling what could be a great game for me...

Even that article states that "Project CARS [is] arriving with VR compatibility from day one". I don't call a game 'VR compatible' if you need to restart the game and memorise keystrokes each time you want to enter a certain game mode/race/car combination. It'll be VR compatible when you can do everything you need to do to set up a game, change settings and play all from within the head mounted display.

Is there anybody having problem with real driving assists ? I'm on XBOX ONE and if you set the driving assists to real and go to an old car like the Ford Escort MK1 the TCS and ABS or on.

Problem is consistent in every car and every track

I am unable to select neutral...not with the th8a.
I can select neutral with paddles but I cannot knock it out of gear wit the th8a.
This makes restarting the car after a mishap very awkward and also causes gear lag because the game will still go through neutral to get to the next gear but only once the next gear has been selected...meaning it's a half second behind which in turn makes it almost unusable.

First - to all that have an Oculus Rift, you must try this (after you disbled the shadows, of course):
Select Practice: Nordschleife second stage, Formula A car and set weather condition to Forecast - time to 10:00.
- This will get you a very good looking (close to real feeling) setup and a fantastic fast driving experience!

Second: When driving a coupe I (near to) always get everything extremly light. So light, it is hard to see the road in front of me.
I have tried every setting to get rid of it, but no luck. So now I have to move my head back from the OR-camera, hit reset and then lean over my wheel.
- That way my head hangs in the front window... but the brightness is gone...

When I drive "open"/Convertible/cabriolet-cars everything looks fine...

Anyone knows how to fix this?

My game crashed in a endurance race.
1h and 26 min was the race length and 6 minutes from the finish the game crashed.
I lost 1h and 20 min of racing butt it's all good i hope it gets fixed other than that im loving the game.

- Happend two times os far, not able te reproduce.

I am using a G27 wheel and pedals and during configuration it only recognizes the gas pedal, not the brake or clutch, and cannot figure it out, meaning i can't play because i have no brakes. It works perfect with every other racing game. Any and all help would be appreciated.

I have the following error on 2 pc´s

I have this on both my PC´s an the I get this error random. Sometimes after 2 minutes en a other time after 5 or 10minutes.

PC 1 hardware: I5 3570k, 8 gig mem, SSD, GTX470

PC 2 hardware: i5 4690k, 8 gig, SSD, GTX780

I try a new install of the game (steam), lower grafic settings. This seems to work a bot on PC1 not on pc2. Pc1 is on low settings and PC2 is on medium settings. All other games works fine on both pc's

Any solution because I am trying to solved this problem sinds the day of the release of the game...

Proton Storm Team LMP2 Alpine A450 @ Hockenheim Ring. Second LMP2 Race (Pan European Trophy, January 28th) in Zero To Hero Carrer mode.

Flying start bad pole position placement. It is impossible to keep first place due to outside lane and starting point. Either move the start slightly back, forward to the straight line or move pole position to the right side (inside). I noticed this on few other tracks in Kart and Supercart series but this one is the worst so far.

Also, does tire type save in pre-race tuning menu? Because prior to race start I select Full Wet Tires, save button does not highlight when clicked and when I re-enter the menu it says automatic by weather.
When I start the race, within the first lap it starts raining heavily and there is no grip at all so I think it saved nothing and I was driving with slicks.

EDIT: OK I see in "re-match" race P1 and P2 get switched but still quite awkward starting position in the middle of a corner.

I'm having troubles getting my car-setup to stick.
I will setup my car, hit the save button, and go for a drive. when I do "return to pit box", my setup will be changed. eg, tyre pressures I've set to 1.50, will be changed to 1.80, gearing will be messed up (3th and 4th excatly the same, so I have to shift from 3rd to 5th). all values I've set will be changed.

this means everytime I enter the pits, I have to setup the car all over again.

Greetings. One thing I noticed this morning, but this may have already been raised to the WMD

INPUT METHOD SELECTED - As above
CAR/TRACK/TIRES - Caterham - Donnington National, but also appeared at Snetterton - Automatically Select
HARDWARE (in sig)

Pics attatched. On loading the Caterham into the races with default setup, 4th Gear has the same ratio as 3rd.

Upon moving, the sliders represent different ratio's, which are correct in game, but the numbers appear the same. (4th Gear & 5th Gear show 1.00, but different on the slider)

Anyone know how to save new adjusted bumper cam view?...It keeps on reverting back to default settings when you get another car or track.

Animation for the sequential stick shift is missing, the driver's hands simply stay on the wheel as the car goes through the gears, despite the car not having paddle shifters and there being a sequential stick shift clearly modeled in the cockpit.

I changed my button configuration and now I'm no longer able to reset my car to the track if I crash.
I set the 'Reset Car' button to R3 instead of the default L3, but it simply doesn't work when I press it.
I even tried setting it back to the default button (L3), and other buttons too, but no matter what button I assign it to, I can no longer reset my car.

Resetting to default controls was the only way to get the 'Reset Car' function working again.

Chosen driver number selected when creating career not shown on car. Seems to be using default skin car number.

Clio Cup Career - Donington - Race 2.

Sat on grid waiting for green light, car in neutral, hit the gas to rev engine and car lurches forward and I get a jump start drive through penalty

All cars

Driver animation hands on wheel change gear up with right hand and down with left. I thought default gear changes with paddles in cars was other way around.

My game seems to be dropping framerate and rubberbanding while racing. With my hardware specs I should be able to run the game on mostly High and Ultra quality at least almost all the way across the board. Whether I use the Nvidia optimized settings or the lowest graphics settings the framerate drops and seems to catch up sending it into a sort of fast-forward until slowing down again. GPU and CPU temps are good. Never more than 130 degrees F for CPU and much lower for GPU. Both of which are brand new. I believe it has something to do with the processor but don't know what to look for or how to change any type of settings dealing with it. Your assistance is appreciated.

Qualifying Session 2/3

Issue: HUD not displaying (gears, lap time, etc.)

Have tried

* Exiting the game completely and going back into the race
* Editing the HUD in game and saving

None of the above works

Thanks guys. Really enjoying the game thus far though

EDIT: I went to options menu to change HUD settings there and it had somehow reverted to OFF. After exiting the game and re-entering the game, the HUD settings seem to change randomly without me changing them. It does this from time to time, not all the time.

Take photo in the garage is not working. it says ok "you can find it under highlights" but i cant find it anywere... it is possible to take the photo as JPG on a folder of the user choice? (at least on pc version)

Multiple issues with the Ginetta G40

1. Windscreen sun visor is rendering different clouds

Hello. Here are my several observation/bugs from almost 40 hours of gameplay:

1) My race engineer speaks very rarely. I think its quite random issue. On sunday I ride 24h le mans and I had fatal crash 9 minutes before finish :( (during race, engineer notified me two times, that second driver is ready in pit stop). So I ride same 24h le mans again next day (finally succesfully got to finish :) ) and engineer didnt notified me about second driver in pit stop at all.
2) When I go to pit stop with helmet cam, I leave pit stop with cockpit cam. (game switch camera automatically)
3) After finishing race, game shows menu, what I want to do next(continue, restart, exit, etc...). Sometimes its automatically marked continue(its ok), but sometimes restart, sometimes exit, etc... If I am inattentive I can confirm to restart/exit race, that I have won already.
4) At listing in cars and tracks list, it would be fine to continue, when I stopped before. Its little boring to list again from beginning, when I am turning back from detail info.

After all Its awesome game and I am really enjoying it! About unlocked tiers in career from beginning - I clap for you... thank you! For me, as for employed man with girlfriend its better than "standart" way of career with unlocking items.

I have red some people have stability issues and some error codes - me not. Game runs excellent from the first time of lunch. Here is my configuration (maybe it can help you to localize root cause of falls on other configurations): Intel Core i7-2600, GIGABYTE P67A-UD3P-B3, 4x2GB DDR3 1600MHz CL8 Kingston HyperX XMP, EVGA GeForce GTX680, ASUS Xonar DX/XD Retail audio card, Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, logitech g27 racing wheel.

I have a problem with highlights,i generally save most of my race day replays as i like to make ytube content with them but unfortunately i tried to view a highlight today Thursday, 21 May 2015 and i got logged out of project cars with a error message,when i logged back into project cars i found all my career progress had been wiped,so i'm wondering if this is a common problem and is there anything i can do to stop this happening in the future.picture of error message 203840

So my wheel never works the same from one mode to the next, like going from free play to time trial loosing feedback, and rotation not matching, or it changes on its own, even when trying to use the steering ratio in setups to try and get it to match. Its like the save feature is corrupt and not saving correctly. My wheel will be like 900 rotation in freeplay i save the setup to the track then i go to time trial and its completly diffrent ratio like going to 270. And if i restart TT it will loose feedback also at times

Is this already known?

Thanks for your time and response, and ive already tried reinstalling the game on my xbox, and this did not fix it either.

Hello there, Im new here on this forums, I purchased PCars on launch day and my experience has been great so far, I salute you all :)

-My problem ,apart from others mentioned here, is that in THE REPLAYS of your races, there is no noise on the turbos of the car, you stop viewing your replay and the sound of the cars are great and spot on, but when you watch your replay the sound of the turbos are off on ALL cars it seems. Its kinda annoying because you want to see your replays of your laps with all sounds and effects turned on.

Tried it three times, won three times and that seems to all there is... one race, no practice, no qualifying...

Simulate to next session does not work, that is, it jumps from practice to qualifying to race, but all is empty...

Edit: next on my calendar was a Clio race (forgot where): also directed me to Dubai (it was in fact a Clio) for one race...

Quite often, collision detection fails ie I run through the AI cars like they're ghosts. AMD graphics card here, so it might be issue with PhysX on CPU.
Happens in last turn in Hockenheim and last S of Spa. Doesn't look like depends on a make of AI car - happens to many cars (R8, Z4 etc).

Motec's if I am correct show the real value that the car would show. And they also show the gear that was last used in a previous session in a weekend

In 2player online game. there is a "bug" or unfear setting. When you create a game with 2 players, with no qualifing or practice sessions. The host start at pole position and the second joined player starts randomly from 2-40 position on the grid. it should be 1&2 position fixed. or 1&2 position random.

Have not tried head2head other tracks but on Monza short it happens all the time.

My issue is the SLI bug, get the details from the posts relating to it below this thread.
SLI usage is at 99% and 60 fps then drops to 30-40fps with 40-50% usage.

5) Today, I found little bug maybe in GT3 US Trophy (Race2 - Walkins Glen track) with McLaren 12C GT3 (PC version). At the beginning of race, it rains. In the middle of race, it stop rains, but at the end it starts rain again. Race has 5 laps with one mandatory pit stop. Problem is that whenever I go to mandatory pit stop mechanics change my tyres to dry one(time 09:20). Mechanicals doesnt bother that outsite rains like hell, they give me tyres on dry surface everytime. I have try to change pit stop preset, but with no result. Good day,

This is my first post on here, so I do apologise if this has been bought up before.

I have the PC version of Pcars, previously a GT6 fanboy, but this is so much better imo. I have been playing the game for less than a month now, and progressed to GT5 level. I downloaded the recent update a day or so ago, prior to completing the Brands Hatch leg of the GT5 season. I ran the sprint race last night, and busy trying to do the main race, which included a mandatory pit stop. The pit stop seems to go OK, however as soon as I leave the pit area, and resume manual control, it seems like the calibration on my Logitech G27 wheel and brake pedal goes way off. It feels like the force feedback turns off slightly, the steering becomes very slow and at the slightest touch of the brake pedal, the wheels lock and the tyres go red.

The never happened prior to the recent update, pit stops have always worked in GT5, please help as I cannot continue the season like this.

UPDATE:

OK, so I managed to get around the above problem, seems like only when I pit in the 4'th lap of the Main Race. If I pit in the 5'th or 6'th lap, and there are no other cars in the pits, then I come out of the pits OK, and won the race.

OK guys, so this problem seems to be back, except I'm in GT4 career, in the Aston Martin V8 Vantage. I go into the pits, and come out with tires that are well over 100 degrees Celsius and as I drive a few meters, they get hotter and burst, and left with 4 flat tires. I notice the force feedback on my G27 also goes funny.

Please help!!!;)

Problem. After i can´t drive any online session. I deinstall pcars and steam from my system. Then i reinstall Steam and Pcars new.
Then i must made a new install from windows : visuell c++ and directx.
Then ok the online sessions works again.

Now i have another problem the game don´t produce the bgl files
under C: Ducuments/ Project Cars/ there is no bgl file folder the only thing that is ther was

As the screenshot shows. i often see this no matter car but always on nordschelife after a session no matter online or offline. Its goes away when i update to any other car. and the world record for the shifter 125cc shows the real possible record.

This is not a problem. but more ann issue.

Multiplayer: any session with forced cockpit isn't working for anybody except the host.

This bug is imminent as in former times/games such feature kept reckless drivers away. Whenever wreckers got the choice watching their destructive acting via 3rd P view they'll go there. Also the deceision racing inside a car reflects a certain attitude like not to take any advance and as such remain blind turns as they are.
I for one love to see this fixed.

Using XB1 with Microsoft approved Hori Racing Wheel.

After recently updating project cars the I am no longer able to start the game. It crashes back to the Xbox dashboard with the wheel connected. If I unplug the wheel and start the game using a normal controller the game starts fine. The game worked fine with the wheel prior to the update.

Hi all. Am on xbox1. Just wondering if anything is in the works for multiplayer settings? For instance I know you can force off all assists....except line. I believe this is an assist and would like to be able to force it off. We run in a racing league that has branched out from forza and its nice to know everybody is using the exact same setup. Not just following a green and red line. Cheers ;:)

I have exactly the same issue. Drops out at slightly mad studios logo. Worked fine befor last patch and is fine with wireless controller. Deleted everything re installed, hard reset. Still no joy. Grr this is the most frustrating game I have ever owned! Please help, thanks.

Hey, Im experiencing a problem, when driving past the pit entrance in career mode and online racing my car pulls towards the pit lane.
If I use the suggested racing line or the other side of it (away from the pit entrance) I can usually get by. I think it is down to using steering assist as when I turn it off it doesn't seem to happen.

Hi everyone.
Platform = Xbox One
Thrustmaster TX458 Racing Wheel.

New to project cars but not new to racing.

I have the latest game patch (1.4 ) along with v49 firmware for the TX Wheel.

So far I have run the game for four hours and have two issues that are in need of fixing.

With the Thrustmaster TX wheel running in the game`s Career Mode - Clio Cup.
1 - When coming to a complete stop on a track the wheel pulls hard to the left or right ( with enough force that this will eventually damage the wheel if not resolved )
this only happens when the wheel is slightly off center - once I accelerate a small amount the effect is gone.
2 - upon doing a mandatory pit stop with a tire change - once exiting the pit and after the popup message ( manual control ) the wheel loses all force feedback
A work around I have found is to disable tire changes in the game settings.
Is there a known fix for these two issues.

Hi All, not sure if it is a known issue or not but i get a big fps drop at le mans exiting the last corner and going along the start finish straight, happens with all cars in all conditions at all times of the day, anyone else have this problem?

I also downloaded an existing livery and put that in the customLiveries folder and that does not show either.

Hi,

Today i tried to remap the Kers Button, Initially was on the Y button. I remaped the KERS to the RB Button, When it was in the Y I had to take my finger off the button to change gears, so putting in the RB i could keep pressing and change gears along. With the change, the Y button now change the Cameras.

After this changes, the KERS stopped working, I tried to remaped the buttons as it was before, in the Y button and the KERS still doesn't work, the problem it's not with the button, I tested. ANy other button that i tried to remap to the KERS doesn't work. ANyone having this ? What should i do ?

INPUT METHOD SELECTED: Fanatec CSR Seperate Pedals in the control menu.

CAR/TRACK/TYRES: Career mode, Season 1, Road Entry Club UK Cup Round 2 at Donington Park National using the Caterham Seven Classic on soft tyres.

HARDWARE: See my signature.

This crash happens at random, any car and track combo, on or offline but the logs I have attached happened under the above conditions.

I've had this crash quite a few times and it's only been happening after Patch 2.0.

The screen will go black but the game is still playing in the background, I still have force feedback on my wheel and sound through my speakers. I can still pause the game but the display will not come back. I have to tab out, get Task Manager up and then that error message I have attached pops up. Under the "applications" tab in Task Manager is still says the Project Cars is "Running".

I think I have covered everything.

Hope to hear some solutions soon.

Hey guys, I have a problem during playing this game in career mode. It always happens it the uphill part of the track, when I'm driving upwards. Yesterday it was constantly happening in the second lap, today it's happening even in the first lap.

PLATFORM: PC, Win 7 64 bit, Intel I5 750, Nvidia Gtx 275 (so I'm using Directx9, not 11), 8 GB Ram

CONTROL METHOD: Logitech DFGT via logitech profiler, using Jack Spade's FFB settings

CAR/TRACK: Karts 125cc/Glencairn, Round 2/5, Session 1/2

The report in the picture is in Czech, translated it means Project Cars stopped working.

As you can in the Video, the Picture gets very slow but the Sound is in the normal pace, and after some seconds the Picture gets very quiekly, where i can't react.
Did somebody else have the same Problem, or did somebody know jow i can fix it? :)

Hello,

there might be a fault in the vehicle classification and selection? I have tried to create a multiplayer session with cars of Group 4 & 5:

BMW 320 Turbo
Ford Capri Zakspeed
BMW M1 Procar

These cars "belong" to the well known DRM series.

In the singleplayer mode the BMW 320, but not the M1 and the Ford Capri can be grouped for a session, when selecting one of them and choosing the competitors option "same class".

In the multiplayer mode the procedere is similar, but the list of selectable cars contains cars of the groups 4 & 5, cars from the transam series and last but not least the Mercedes AMG C-Coupe DTM?

Further, if you search multiplayer sessions you will find the cars of group 4 & 5, transam, dtm in the class silhouette-GT?

It seems to me, that the grouping of cars into classes might not be consistent and for what reason ever different in single and multiplayer mode?

Apologies if this has already been posted.

Running a 44 lap race at Silverstone GP circuit with rain and at night in the GT3 cars. Got to the last lap and my position for no reason started going down. I was originally in 11th at the start of the lap but when I crossed the line it said I was 16th yet no cars passed me. In fact I overtook some cars on that last lap. When I exited the game it actually showed the correct finishing position of 8th place but in game it did not.

Apologies if this has already been reported.

A couple of issues at Hockenheim. One is a major bug and the other is more annoying.

I have just been running a 12 lap race at Hockenheim GP in the GT3 cars. Exiting the last corners in my Audi R8, I was able to drive straight through the Mercedes in front of me. I captures it on video if needed.

The minor annoyance is again, at Hockenheim, the AI always run wide at turn 1 and lose momentum as they run over the curb meaning just about every lap you overtake them into turn 2. It just became too repetitive happening every time. Maybe the AI line could be looked at.

I'm finding that the game crashes at the main menu when I click on anything with the mouse. The game has been working perfectly fine since release, this is a brand new problem. I have not installed any new hardware, am using the same mouse with the same drivers I was using when I first installed the sim. Once I'm at the main menu, if I click on anything with the mouse (and I mean, anything at all) the sim crashes/freezes and I have to ctrl/alt/delete to get to the task manager to end the process. I find that I can, however, navigate the menus with the arrow keys. This appears to be a problem since the latest patch, as I haven't tried the sim in a couple of weeks, since I'd been on vacation.

Any suggestions?

Following the update to version 2.5 on PC the game has started slowing down when I brake and speeding up to compensate the loss of time when I accelerate after the corner. I tried lowering the graphic settings but the problem doesn't go away. I've played the game for over 40 hours and it had always run perfectly before the new update. It happens on every track with every car.
P.S. I have a laptop with an intel core i7 4510U 2 core 2.0 GHz, Nvidia Geforce GTX 850M 4 GB and 16 GB of RAM.

Since the last patch, the engine vibration has disappeared from my Fanatec FM CSR wheel. I have tried a work around that restores the vibration, but greatly reduces the force feedback. I've tried adjusting the settings both in the wheel properties and in-game, but nothing works.

I know my profile says PS4 but this is about the PC version. They suckered me on two platforms. SMS is dead to me. Let's see here. Had much anticipation for this game and pre-ordered. Disappointment ensued. Played game for a short time and quit playing due to all of the bugs. Couple of patches come out, so I decided to play again today. Jumped back into my career that I had been playing. Entered a M1 invitation race. Did the practice run and played fine. Then came qualifying. Have the setup for tires dependent on conditions. It was raining and it gave me slicks. The car actually drove pretty well despite that, but after only 1.5 laps, the tires went red. Pitted. Changed to wets. Took it nice and slow to warm up tires, yet it was like driving on ice even at very slow speeds. Tires finally began to warm up halfway through second lap. Beginning of third lap, tires go red. The devs should all be fired. Horrible game. Tremendous disappointment. Waste of money. Suckered again. Last time. Games like GT have their downsides, but at least every GT game has been playable. Plus it's all but been forgotten as they are working on number 2. Shameless.

Race start grid engine bug

When I start a race after qualification is done, the engine goes full rev and I can't change gear. I have to press esc and restart session. This is no problem in singleplayer, but online I have no other option than to quit the race on the start grid. There is no response from the pedal input , clutch or gear change.

And if the start grid is on a slope, the car will slowly role before the green light and give me a penalty. I have to quickly apply the brake pedal just as I gain control of the car. But this mean I have to hold clutch and brake and can not be ready on the gas pedal before green light. This is how a real car would do on a slope, but I don't know if it is intentional from the devs?

That's why I wrote e.g.
But the game mimics the "problem" correctly, like it would be IRL.
My advice: use the handbrake if there is one, otherwise keep your foot on the brake pedal and operate the throttle like you would using heel-toe.

If I'm not mistaken, I think the car starts rolling a little bit before you have control, so you have to be quick on the brake. But could be my memory failing. I can't duplicate the rolling issue or the bug on my main PC (the one I'm writing on), I only have the G25 wheel attached to my second PC in the basement. (I will change my signature to list the specs on my basement racing PC, since the bug is happening there. )

The game braking bug is the engine full rev bug. This bug prevents me from joining any race online. :(

Don't recall the car rolling before having control. But since a slope is pretty well recognizeable in PCars, it's not an issue to me.
So, if in doubt, just slam the (hand) brake :tennis:

I have an issue with the AI and crash recoveries.
Is there ever a yellow flag, where the AI slow down in the area of an accident and is a safety car ever used?
I notice when I crash, no yellows, no slow downs, no safety car. Makes it impossible to get back to pits without you causing another accident.
Also when the AI crash they seem to get stuck and cannot select reverse, leaving an hazard in the track or causing another accident.

Hope to hear a reply, take it easy.

The R8 does not have "Kers", the devs have done a trick with the R8 to get the correct performance that the real car has.

Hence why it doesn't work, its the same with the Audi A90 Quattro DLC car

I've got issues remapping the key of KERS when using XBOX One Classic input. The KERS works properly when keeping the original mapping 'Y' for it, but when I changed the mapping of KERS to any of the keys, it no longer works. Hope you guys in WMD could see it and get a hotfix in patch 3.0. THX:)

Issue report,

System as per signature.

Problem is that since the patch 3 download DK2 performance has dropped about 25% or more, not the 20-40% improvement expected/indicated that patch would bring for the Oculus.

Same settings as before at SPa, 30 cars, clear sky I was getting 75FPS loceked 65% approx GPU use (this was already an issue) and 75% GPU use.

Now I'm getting 48-53FPS 48% GPU and under 60% CPU, if I reduce settings to get better FPS it doesn't work on the startline, GPU use just drops to about 38%. More details in the Oculus thread, it would appear that all DK2 users have similar issues, except maybe 1, however I am suspicious of that post. or rather I just plain don't believe it.

Hey guys. Just a quick one from me. Noticed this today whilst getting some practice in the gt3 Bentley around azure circuit. I (of course) made some fairly drastic changes to my steering ratio to get round THAT hairpin. I moved to slider all the way to the fast end, but was struggling to really feel a difference. I put it down to my lack of feel and moved on. Later on I attempted the same car/track combo and instantly felt a massive difference in the steering.
I realized after a little bit of testing, that steering ratio setting changes appear to only take affect after you leave the session you are currently in and return. Whether this affects other car settings, I'm not sure. Not a massive issue if you have your car setup beforehand, but if you are testing in session before a race, it could pose an problem.

I'm using a G27 if that's necessary information.

I have noticed some bugs that I would like to report. They are not ground breaking, but still needs to be fixed.
System:
PC with G25 steering wheel
Car and track:
Aston Martin V12 Vantage at Spa in Solo mode.
I like Spa and I like AM, so I have done some endurance events in solo mode with this setup. A 250 laps race, all rules, full damage, tire wear and fuel consumption.

1. Yes that is the first issue, the lag of timed races instead of laps (but not really a bug, just a huge wish).

2. So why is the light turned off every time you enter the pit? I like driving with the lights on, because that makes the digital dash board more visible. But when entering the pit, the light is automatically turned off and do not come on again, when leaving the pit.

3. When switching to the AI driver all tire information stops working. So there is no tire information in the dash about the heat and no information about wear in the HUD. The tire information comes back when you swap back and take control of the car.

4. This is a huge one I think. I had a huge crash in a race and lost a couple of laps to the leader, but that is racing. I was still a couple of laps down on the leader at the end of the race, but was having a great fight with 3 other cars for position. As the leader crossed the finish line and won the race, the result screen popped up and the AI driver toke over!!!!! Why is that, why am I not allowed to finish the race and just have to sit and look at a result screen, when in the background I can see that the AI driver is still driving at racing speed and even overtaking other drivers!!! I don´t know if this is a bug or just a design fault but it is very frustrating. It will be nice to get the opportunity to finish the final lap, even thoug you are a couple of laps behind the leader.

5. The second really frustrating issue is the leaderboard or final result of the race. This must be a bug. If I have a 250 lap race of Couse the leader and winner of the race has done 250 laps as shown on the result screen after the race. But then things start to go wrong. All the other cars gets the ranking on the result screen, not by the number of laps they have done, but from what position they crosses the finish line after the winner of the race. So a car which has done 246 laps has a higher position on the leaderboard than another car with 250 laps!!! Try it out it is very easy to test. Just make a race of 200-250 laps, drive a couple of laps and then simulate the rest of the race. Then you can see that the race result do not match the number of laps each car has driven. It is the same, if you drive the full race distance and do not simulate the session.

Apart from those small issues, Project Cars is such a great game. Thank you for a great game and for great support.

Cockpit rear view mirror does not save, at least not when using cockpit camera. In options I set HUD to full (mirror on) but ingame I have to hotkey cycle HUD to re-enable rear view mirror every time I enter a race.

If you use the right stick up for acceleration and down for braking (and many do as it was the default for GT6) you cannot adjust the controller configuration for Throttle and Brakes differently. You can set them any way you want but as soon as you back out of the controller config screen either the brake deadzone and sensitivity will change to match the throttle numbers or vice versa. This continues post patch 3.

I am using a DS4 controller with PS4.

I have posted about this a number of times in different places and gotten no response from anyone in "gold". I would greatly appreciate it if someone could just send a line to the effect that the problem is being looked into or if a fix is coming shortly.

A suggestion- it might save everybody time if a line or two were included in the first message of this thread as to where- in what section or what thread- what sort of bugs should be reported.

If you use the right stick up for acceleration and down for braking (and many do as it was the default for GT6) you cannot adjust the controller configuration for Throttle and Brakes differently. You can set them any way you want but as soon as you back out of the controller config screen either the brake deadzone and sensitivity will change to match the throttle numbers or vice versa. This continues post patch 3.

I am using a DS4 controller with PS4.

I have posted about this a number of times in different places and gotten no response from anyone in "gold". I would greatly appreciate it if someone could just send a line to the effect that the problem is being looked into or if a fix is coming shortly.

A suggestion- it might save everybody time if a line or two were included in the first message of this thread as to where- in what section or what thread- what sort of bugs should be reported.

Well, I found one that is not game breaking but annoying.

It's more of an error of translation

Problem: the G27 seperate Pedals Setting is misnamed as "Logitech G25 Pro getrennte Pedale" (G25 Pro Seperate Pedals), which can lead to confusion among G27 Users, as there only is the "G27 Verbundene Pedale" (G27 combined Pedals) that is somehwat problematic. (i.e. could never get a proper Throttle and Brake response while calibrating and only roughly 80% of throttle response.)

How to reproduce: Turn language to German via steam if you have your controller set to "G27 seperate Pedals".

Not sure if it's a bug or a feature :o, or if it has been posted already, but i have an issue with tyres.

I'm in career mode, it's my 2nd season in the Clio Cup. The track is Oulton Park Fosters, 2nd race (with a mandatory pit stop). I know that after 3-4 laps it starts raining, so i make my pit stop as soon as i can and set up the pit strategy to put wet tyres. But it keeps giving me slick tyres :confused:. Not very good to race in the rain with those :livid:
Restarting the game, deleting/creating new pit stop strategy doesn't change anything.

Don't remember if this happened in my first season as well, don't think so, but maybe i didn't notice and crashed.

I'm on pc with a Fanatec GT3 RS v2. Thx :rolleyes:

On the xbox one, the RUG CRT 3 endurance race is buggy.
1. Even on 0 difficulty the AI are extremely fast.
2. I am in a RUF, every single other car is a Lykan Hypersport.
3. When I change car it only has an infinity sign, I cannot move around, selecting it will just be the same screen but without the infinity sign. Pressing A or moving the analogy stick does nothing.

It is really difficult to find the right thread to give feedback, where I know that a developer or moderator read it.
During the development we had threads for each car and track for example.
I don't think that we need it in this specific way, but I think it would help if we have a Feedback category in the main path of the Project CARS forum and some sub-categories like cars, tracks, graphics, input devices, ...

Example: Yesterday I noticed that the driver head in the cockpit views is connected to the horizon instead to the car. This is really irritating if you drive through a banked curve like on the new Mojave track.

Where should I post such feedback?

Hi all I have been going through all the cars Time Trialing the Azure Coast and have found a bug with the Audi R10 V8 Plus. On the dual carriageway I seem to hit an invisible object, this happens on other parts of the circuit too. I have not done a full lap of the circuit with this car due to these problems.

Ive only noticed this in multiplayer, but i havent spent any real time in non-multiplayer modes so it might happen there too. Damage is definately disabled when this happens, it seems that it can occur after a crash with a wall, or impact with another car. Just leaving and restarting the session or joining a different session does not fix it. The FFB seems to tighten around the center too once its happened. It will usually happen at least once or twice when i play for a couple hours (if there are any incidents). I dont remember it occuring in previous builds, but i havent been playing that much recently so it may have been there earlier as well. The car i was driving was the Aston GT3, happens at any circuit. PC details in signature.

I take back what i said, it doesn't require damage. I was just doing qualy laps in MP at nurburg GP and it just did it part way through the lap, didnt hit anything then or at all in session. Unfortunately i closed pcars to come here and report about it not needing damage so only just saw your message about recording it. Not sure if it matters but the previous race was at Monza and i got smashed up pretty bad by rammers so i left the race and moved onto the nurburg gp one. The first lap out for qual the car was fine though, it broke half way through the second.

I have attached debug logs. Its pretty much the last thing that happened in the logs. Once it broke i checked telemetry to see if my steering angle was going mad, but it looked normal even though the car wasnt. The issue is speed related too, at low speeds its not noticable, but as you start to go fast its like it tries to apply the low speed grip and you just lose control, goes into a uncatchable tank slapper in straight line. Next time it happens i'll make a recording from the replay of the moment it happened.

I have a theory on this, i was driving a different car today (doesnt happen very often), the Scion FC-S and i felt like i had the same issue i reported above although the effects were not as drastic in this car. In the Aston GT3 it became pretty much undrivable, but i was still able to drive ok with the Scion, but the FFB feel had completely changed. I believe it happened when i ran over the kerbs on the outside of turn 3 (the left hander after the hairpin) at brands indy. The kerbs there are really nasty, they put a huge amount of FFB back through my wheel. After going over them at one point the steering went much lighter and i had the change in overall FFB from then on, regardless of changing session, only a full game restart makes any difference. I wonder if there is some code to automatically "scale back" the FFB if its detected as too strong / or clipping, as it seems that going over those harsh kerbs, or impacts with other cars/objects can all cause this and those things all cause high load/clipping on the FFB as my strength is set fairly high. Is this a possibility?

Ok i have more info, it definately appears to be a controller issue. I dont seem to be able to play for anymore than about 10 minutes max before the steering goes screwy. This time i was able to troubleshoot some more and here are a few things i noticed.
1. it can happen while driving in a straight line and not hitting anything

2. After it happened, i went into calibration and tried to calibrate my wheel and the results were odd. I have a 900 degree wheel (g27), at the second stage when it says turn it 90 degrees, if i hold dead center it says 0, move slightly left or right and i get massive values like 16513 degrees (see screenshot)

I restarted the game but that didnt seem to make a difference in the calibration, its just always like that. Not sure if this is a known issue or somehting strange is going on with my wheel specifcally.

3. I then decided to try calibrate differently, instead of turning to the full extent in stage 1, i only tuned about 120 degrees, clicked next, then turned to 90. When i start playing the game, the telemetry indicates the only a partial turn when i am at full lock. I presumed this was probably just a bug in the steering display due to the way i calibrated. So if you look at the screenshot below, that is with my wheel turned 90 degrees, note the position of the steering pointer in the telemetry. Its at about 30% (see below)

So i played for a bit with the calibration mentioned above and all seemed to go ok for a while (10 mins or so) and then while racing, in the middle of a straight the steering just went funny again. I parked up on the grass and did some more tests. I again turned the wheel 90 degrees (as i did in the previous test), only this time the steering angle in the telemetry now shows that it is on the far right. So something changed in the controller/steering MID RACE that resulted in a 90 degree turn of my wheel going from 30% angle right, to 100% angle. Its like it became multiplied or something. (see below)

4. After all this, i decided to recalibrate again (120 degrees max rotation), WITHOUT RESTARTING THE GAME, loaded up brands indy, came to a stop and turned the wheel 90 degrees to see what it showed. Once i got to 90 degrees rotation of the physical wheel, an strong force comes across the wheel and makes it rotate hard in the direction i turned until it hits full lock. If i forcefully overpower it back below 90 degrees its ok, even if i turn 90 left instead it takes hold and turns full lock left. I made a video of it here

Quality is a bit low, i have a better quality version if needed, but it shows what i mean. The wheel is quite hard to turn, then as soon as it reaches 90 degrees it just starts rotating to full lock.

I hope this can be solved as at the moment the game is practically unplayable as the steering fails constantly, usually within 10 minutes of playing and once it does the car is undrivable at anything more than a slow pace.

I ran the session recording through a basic grapher to see what the problem looks like, here is the comparison of the steering values from the api for the hairpin at brands hatch from lap 1 (before the issue occured) and lap 2 (after the issue occured).

In the below screenshots, green is throttle, red is brake, brown is steering. In both cases the corner was navigated using the same line (or close to it), trace starts just before the braking zone approaching the hairpin

Like I said i have this UDP stream data if you want it. The fact it fixes itself with an Alt-Tab might be a hint as something must be getting reinitialised. Changing sessions or recalibrating wheel does not fix, only other way ive found to resolve it is to completely restart the game.

Are you turning the wheel to 90 degrees at this point (the value should settle at around 900 degrees) before pressing finish?

The fact the wheel resets after you alt-tab out and back gives me the feeling its driver related. Are there any driver setting which are altered?

but i do think that i have found what it is and i have no idea why... im using a t500rs with the ferrari F1 wheel.. i think that it has to do with the button mapping.. i have always mapped it differently then default and included R3 and L3 as buttons.. DO NOT Map those.. once i took those out of my on wheel mapping, i have not gotten the snap massive oversteer in MP... now i get my old usual occasional.. there is little/no ffb at all and the steering ratio is completely wrong with massive understeer but much less frequently

Using an USB 3.0 Port (but any USB 2 will also work), i always use the same one and installed it on that one aswell

Im on Win 10 btw. - i know that Win 8.1 there are some problems with Logitech Products (namely I had a problem in Arma 3 which after 10 - 30 min my Logitech 3D pro joystick was not recognized anymore, due to that the driver "disconnects & reconnects" the product)

Use Logitech Profiler 5.10 and not the Logitech Gaming Software at all

Default Settings in the Profiler with the option that game can override the settings

Ingame never calibrated or changed settings - i use preset "G27 seperate pedals" and just tweaked some sensitivity and ffb stuff (i use Jack Spades Tweaker files)

Never got any problems in PCARS since 1.0 version - i also remapped most of the buttons, combined with Keyboard buttons aswell
But also note: I deleted sometimes my game profile as im pretty sure it caused some problem after patches (ie. 3.0 patch) and solved alot of smaller problems i had

The Merc CKL-LM (GT1 class) has the suspension clipping thru the body and some kind of a bug...

I've gone around La Source at Spa TT as soon as the AI gave me the control and then I turned the car against the wall right wall and also turned the wheel full right and I've noticed two things after put it in neutral (i've done this to stop the car to watch vrHive on the laptop while on track):

- the car was still pushing and slowly going downhill where I think it should be stopped. It is a steep downhill but the car was about 30º against the wall and the wheels turned to the wall. Warmed up slick facing the wall should be enough to keep the car stopped.

- at some point after descending a bit the suspension started to act funny (jumping) and clipping thru the body of the car and suddenly the car jumped to the track.

Im not sure that your issue is exactly the same, it happens for me in single and multiplayer. The only way to fix is to completely exit the restart the game or Alt-tab in/out (PC), restarting just the session doesnt fix anything. Mine never happens immediately, it alwasy occurs after approx 5-15 mins driving. The only effect it has is that the steering ratio seems to go super sensitive, so every steering input is magnified 10+ times making the cars undrivable.

Im using the same USB 3 port everytime, win 10, logitech profile 5.10 as well, not the gaming software, ive tried default settings with game can override and also tried recommended settings from the forum page on G27 setup. Never had a problem during the countless hours i played during the games development. This issue only appeared post release after one of the patches, not sure which one though unfortunately as ive had alot less time to play it since it was released.

Deleting the profile might be worth a try, i cant remember when exactly i last did it, it was post release, but not sure when.

Came across an interesting bug in Project CARS when doing some testing of my pCars Dash. When I restarted a session while I had time progression turned on, the session restarted but left me with a black screen but the api is outputting the opponent cars still running at the previous time progression, but the session time counter is running in real time. I was running with 60x progression when i restarted, then i just got a black game screen but the api out showed cars racing. In 33 seconds (according to "time left") the opposition cars did 40 laps around brands indy.

I havent been able to reproduce it again, but these were the settings/steps i was doing when it happened
1. Quick Race mode
2. Track - brands indy, car = aston gt3

7. game got stuck on black screen, if you have a UDP stream compatible companion app (like pCars Dash) running, you could see the opponents of the restarted session still operating at 60x speed, but the session timer itself running at normal speed.

ALL Rev lights on the wheel flash the whole duration of the three races. Not able to use them for shifting.
On the other hand: NO rev lights working on the PCars Dash during these races.
Even tried my Formula rim, same issue.


Normally this behaviour shows in the pilanes only. Maybe because there is no pitlane here ?

I am experiencing a couple of intermittent issues and two constant ones:
Intermittent:
1. While racing the Nürburgring GP in an LMP1 car I received a cut track penalty who's count down timer got stuck at three, thus limiting my speed until I could enter pit lane to clear the error. This error only happened once.
2. While attempting to load the Nordschleife track with an LMP1 car selected, my game got stuck on the loading screen. There were no audio issues as the music track continued to play (beautifully). This has happened on a few different tracks but I cannot remember what car I was using (it is very possible they were all LMP1 cars). Whenever this error occurs I must pull up my task manager and force quit the game.
Constant:
1. Once I have set up my wheel in Project Cars, the on screen wheel movements do not match those of my G29. I have to turn my wheel from lock to lock in order to get the vehicle to turn in the slightest. I have not noticed any complaints from G27 owners on this issue (presumably because the G27 and G29 use different Logitech gaming software). The only solution I have found is to program the wheel through Logitech's software and ignore the setup in Project Cars entirely.
2. While racing at the Nürburgring GP (yes I love that track) a vehicle that was lapped crossed the finish line immediately after the lead car. This jumped the lapped car into second place when it actually should have finished last. Reading the forum, this seems to be an issue that has persisted since July but was supposed to be addressed in a previous update; it hasn't.

I had a strange thing at California Highway.

I was in the third section of the track, running through the tunnel and up the hill to the big jump.
My car jumped and got some air, but as it touches the track again, it stopped immediately. Game was running and if I wanted I could just drive ahead.

Got this problem earlier (last year) with the R8 I think...

Tried it once again today, in the FOV menu I changed all camera's (and back again) without any problem.
In game, with the FOV+ and - buttons mapped on my button box: all is fine too.
So, either I'm very lucky, or there is something wrong at your side...

After some 700 hrs of driving in PCars (first on PS4 and now on PC) I managed to find my first "landmine"
BMW Z4 GT3
Quick race weekend, night race at Bannochbrae.
Last corner of the second lap ..... BAMMM ....... wind screen shattered, rolling over several times while the Stig told me twice I was cutting track.
After restart no more problems.

But I seem to have an issue at Snetterton 100. When pushing "drive" the rev lights on my Porsche 918 RSR rim all light up and stay that way for as long as I drive. I tried several cars, all have the same issue...

When it says "Now hold the wheel either 90 degree clockwise or anticlockwise and press Finish" it is expected to see larger values when the wheel is turned less than 90 degrees. Are you turning the wheel to 90 degrees at this point (the value should settle at around 900 degrees) before pressing finish?

The fact the wheel resets after you alt-tab out and back gives me the feeling its driver related. Are there any driver setting which are altered?

@James, is this bug going to be addressed? It is still there, had it happen about 5 times tonight in a few hours of playing. Really ruins a race when your running in a great position. Alt tab out and back in still fixes it, but you cant exactly do that very easily when there are cars around you or you end up causing an accident.

make sure steam is running.
can you see pcars in your game library steam account ?
try to run the game through Steam app (click on the steam icon right bottom of your desktop next to clock)

Does sound like a Steam connection issue, not related to the game.

Perhaps try and change the Steam server you're connecting to in Steam's options?

Thanks for the help. I was forced to sign on to steam from my secondary computer and had no problem getting into my account. I change the server location and updated the server location files The only problem is that computer has a slow card and is in and is unworkable with project cars.

I went back to my original computer completely uninstalled steam reinstalled steam tried to sign on to steam and ended up with the same messages of "Steam is having trouble connecting to the servers". This attempt was after I changed the server location

Basically I can sign in to my account on the computer with the slow card and it's unplayable or I can use the computer that runs project cars but can't sign into my account to launch or even turn into offline mode. any ideas

Yes I calibrate to 900 degrees exactly which is 90 degrees left/right. As a test I tried calibrating it smaller by not turning the wheel full lock in step 1 of calibration, but the problem still occurs. The last post i made with the telemetry results before and after the bug was with 900 degree calibration.

Re the driver, i used to just have it all on defaults, then after this problem has been occuring i tried following the G25/G27 FFB setup guide on the forums but it made no difference.

This is not isolated to just me either, I was talking with a player that I used to race with all the time back during development and he mentioned to me that he constantly has the same issue where the controller input gets screwed up and he has to restart the game to fix it. When i posted about getting this issue fix in one of the other forum threads (Ian's xmas requests one), someone else also said that a number of the TGC racers also often report that they need to restart the game to fix their steering.

Like i said, it happens to me consistantly within about 10-15 mins of play so if there is anything in particular you want me to do to try figure out the issue, let me know.

This issue of the wheel sensitivity changing mid play is still ongoing, it baffles me that an issue which prevents some of your player base from playing the game is being ignored. There is pretty much no point in me trying to play a race because 80% of the time the bug will appear during the race and make the car completely undrivable. Ive heard from numerous other people who have the same problem and also get ignored when they report it. Ive heard of it occuring with player who use completely different models/brands wheels so it cant be driver related. It also does not happen in any other racing games i own. Ian said this issue would get looked into when i asked him about it back in december on his "ask ian thread", but from what i can see no visible effort has been made.

I was going to write a utility to monitor the input values from DirectInput to see if that would help shed any light on what exactly is happening, however I remembered I had the iRacing Force Feedback Test utility which has the wheel position values output to it. So i started up the game today with that utility running in the background so i could monitor the values when the problem occured. What i observed is the following
- Before starting PCARS, the wheel at 90 degrees reads position 10000
- After starting PCARS i stopped out on track and tested. The wheel at 90 degrees reads position 2100. Turning the wheel to its extent in one direction (450 degrees) reads 10000. All good makes sense based on the in game 90 degree calibration vs full lock
- Was playing a 5 lap MP race at Watkins Short, lap 4 of 5 went through the bus stop chicane and as i went to turn right to the long 180 the wheel jerked then the car suddently swung extreme right and crashed into the wall. Turning the wheel 90 degrees was now reading 10000 in the monitor and not 2100. So the steering is now 5 times more sensitive and it is impossible to drive the car (Aston GT3) like this, it just spins out as soon as you try to apply any steering input.

As I mentioned before, the only thing that fixes it is to completely exit and restart the game, or Alt-tab out and back in. Restarting the race or recalibrating in game does nothing. I have been told by someone having the same problem with t300rs that disconnecting and reconnecting from the usb port also fixes it, i have not tried this myself though.

I wonder how often a bug like that has been misinterpreted as a "physics bug" or just bad game mechanics resulting in negative feedback. I can imagine players who have not been involved with this game during its development phase would not realise the difference, ive always been a big believer in this game and the driving experience it provides (despite some of its other issues), and for me personally I find it a real shame that I cant even play it anymore without my races getting constantly ruined by this bug.

The steering ratio bug (and the "controller stops working in MP issue) is not being ignored. The problem is that those bugs are not reproducable, neither on the dev PCs nor on the console dev kits.
SMS is still on it but if you can't reproduce an issue, the chances to fix it are close to zero unfortunately.

The normal feedback of "this doesn't work, its never worked, why have you not fixed this obvious problem, we're being ignored" doesn't help us at all. If something hasn't been fixed, its because we can't repeat it (as has been stated above).

There are also settings in the driver software iirc about wheel rotation, so its also worth making sure you have a profile setup for pCars with 900 degree rotation set. If the wheel misbehaves the driver may well set it back to whatever the correct value.

As i mentioned many times in earlier postings, it is reproducible for me, it literally happens within 15 mins or so of play about 80% of the time i play. I also said i was happy to help track down the problem since it is very reproducable on my side, but no one seemed interested. So seeing as this bug has been ongoing for a rather long time, and i have made offerings to help track it down and had very little feedback on the issue, i think my observation of it "being ignored" is justified from my perspective. It certainly was not communicated that it was being taken seriously, i only ever got one dev response from james which was effectively "did you calibrate it properly, and if so its probably a driver issue".

Do you know if there is a directinput log (or logging mode that can be enabled) or perhaps a logitech driver log which might be helpful. Since i am able to reproduce it then i can pinpoint the exact moment it happens and check against a log to see what happened at that time.

good to know, i dont use it as i use paddle shifts generally, but it is connected so i will give it a try next time.

I have however just noticed that Logitech has released a new version of their driver last month so ill install that and see if it happens to make any difference or not.

I have found a repeatable issue with Road America in multiplayer mode of the PC version of the game. It appears that if a driver retires his car and continues to stay connected to the server, it will hold other drivers that are close to his pit stall when they pit and not release them. Once the retired driver disconnects from the server, the other cars are released from their stalls. I am wondering if it has anything to do with the fact that Road America does not have a garage area. The retired cars sit in the stalls at a 45 degree angle on this track. Anyone else experience this?

Hello people! I dont know if this is the right place to report said bug or bugs in general but I hope it is! :p

Now on to the bug, it happens only in single player/career/quick race modes. What happens is that whenever there is an accident with the AI that doesnt invovle me there will never be yellow flags. Most of the times yellow Flags dont show up, ive only seen it once on Spa in the hairpin where 2 GT3 cars spun each other out and couldnt move and the yellow flag was called there. But thats it. I have around 200 ish hours of single player racing and i havent seen a yellow flag since :/.
It happens on all tracks as well. I do get blue flags which is nice, but the yellow flag is never called unless im sitting in the middle of the track blocking the racing line and the general area and only then did i just see a yellow flag (was a yellow rectangle) in the top corner on the race map, but it wasnt called by Stiggie (The ingame engineer guy who talks and stuff, im vague i know ;p) or the crew cheif guy (The app made that acts as your crew cheif and spotter and such). Ironiclly ive seen yellow flags and full course yellows in Online and even have them called out to me by the ingame Engineer guy and The Crew Cheif go. But in single player i have never gotten a full course yellow nor a yellow. I do apologize if i come off as rude/entilted!

I've never had any problems with my G25 but I know that some peeps have probs with the G27.
I don't use the profiler by the way.

Ok so did some testing with the new drivers. When i loaded PCARS i decided to recalibrate the wheel since drivers had been updated. What was strange was that my wheel was locked to ~200 degrees, i couldnt physically turn it further without possibly breaking it. So i calibrated it based on how it was behaving. Started a race and steering was screwed (just like what would happen when the bug occured). The wheel monitoring tool reported 90 degrees turn as max (10000 units). I alt tabbed out and back in and suddenly i could turn the wheel properly again, but since my calibration was setup for 200 degrees it obviously didnt work very well, steering was incredibly slow as would be expected. So first observation was that for some reason PCARS (or logitech) failed to init my wheel properly to 900 degrees when i started pcars. Alt tab in/out seemed to resolve it (just like it would when the bug occurs, something must get reinitialised somewhere)

I quit the game to see if that issue repeated itself when i next started it but it didnt. I loaded logitech profiler and checked through the settings, my pCars profile was all setup correctly for 900 degrees + all the other recommended settings from that controller setup page on the forum. What i did notice however was that if i looked at global device settings, the default was set for 200 degrees so i upped this to 900 as default for all games. I also noticed that it was set to apply the custom game profiles automatically when the game is detected. What i suspect may be happening is that the driver is SOMETIMES not detecting project cars as the active game and was auto switching back to the default global device settings of 200 degrees. Alt tabbing in and out of PCARS probably triggered it to detect the game again and reapply the 900 degree settings. I left some differences in the spring settings (and another one i cant remember what it was called) between the global default and the pcars specific profile. I then went and played for about 30 mins or so and did not have the bug reoccur. I think that i detected feel a change in the "feel" of the wheel while playing which could be attributed to the difference in spring settings between global and pcars profile which (if true) would indicate that it is switching for some reason mid game.

So as a workaround (at least from my testing so far) you can resolve the steering input issue by changing your GLOBAL DEVICE SETTINGS in the Logitech software to 900 degrees so it matches the custom Project Cars profile settings. For those others who are experiencing this issue, give this a try and see if it makes any difference for you.

I haven't got any custom wheel profiles for Raceroom or AC which is perhaps why i was never seeing the problem occur in those (if it is actually the driver switching profiles mid game in PCARS)

Oh also while im here, i was doing laps during qualifying at Watkins Glen GP (Aston GT3) and i was able to drive at full pace until the fuel completely ran out (0.0 left) at which point engine switched off and i coasted, in the past there would be some power loss once you got low (under 1ish).. is that a bug or something thats been changed?

It's well known that having a custom profile in the profiler does not work very well for a lot of people, so it's best just to use the global settings.
This was discussed at length in the development days.
In fact IMO the profiler is a waste of time, that's why I don't use it at all (actually I find it a lot better without)

As for the running out of fuel thing, I have no idea.

Well known by who? those supremely dedicated folk who read every post ever made in the forum? I was part of the development cycle since 2011 and i didnt know that, i clearly didnt read every thread (not many have the time). What about everyone that bought the game after its release, are they expected to just know? If that is the case then why does the MAIN guide for setting up the G25/G27 (ie the stickied guide in the support forum called [G25-G27] - Wheel Setup Guide (http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/showthread.php?22122-G25-G27-Wheel-Setup-Guide) that any G25/G27 user is likely to goto first) specifically say to make a custom profile for Project Cars?

Its no wonder so many people have problems when important information is not clearly presented and easily discoverable because people seem to just assume "i know so everyone else should also know", or they assume people should have read every page of a 100 page thread. If theres one thing ive learnt building commerical applications that have been used by hundreds of thousands of people over the last 16 years is that you should assume that everyone is clueless and make things as simple and idiot proof as possible and you save yourself a lot of headaches and support issues. That earlier post of the screenshot from RaceRoom is the perfect example, you cant miss it, everyone that plays the game will clearly see it telling them to make sure they have the latest drivers or they will have a problem. If its well known within SMS that the custom game profiles should'nt be used because they cause problems, tell people, it wouldn't be hard to put a notification on the controller selection screen where you select a logitech wheel. That G25/G27 stickied thread should also not be stickied (or ideally it should be corrected) if it is telling people the wrong information regarding using custom profiles.

You make some valid points in your post and I must agree with some of them, but I did say "that having a custom profile in the profiler does not work very well for a lot of people" I didn't say everyone.
Obviously it works for Photonenbert in the thread you mentioned and it may work for some but not others.
I always had problems with the profiler in development and especially the 'custom profile' as did many others, and that's the reason I and others don't use it.

So yes it could of been explained better.

So far so good with the logitech profiler changes, however in my attempt to continue testing if the wheel problem is completely resolved i ran into another bug which screwed my race. Patch 11, Donington GP, Aston GT3, MP

Did qualy session fine, qualified on pole.
Next was 5 min warmup session, waited a couple of mins before going out and doing 1.5 laps
Then was the race.. well thats what was supposed to happen. The normal "grid preview" camera was way off in the sand somewhere, couldnt see any cars. When it finally put me in my car, i wasnt on the starting grid i was half way around turn 1 from what i could tell. I was just stuck there, the start never triggered, people said i was bugging so i quit out so they could (hopefully) start the race. I jumped on here and posted this, sessions logs are attached

So the end of the MP log is me saying (or trying to say as i couldnt reach my keyboard properly so wasnt quite that clear) "wtf im in the middle of turn 1". Game was really unresponsive (lagging heaps trying to type etc), I then quit the race at which point the game froze completely trying to leave the session. Had to kill it from task manager.

I have a sound issue in pc version. In replays, the other cars don´t make any sound or they sound very low.

The HUD track map is incomplete . missing the last corners (map shape) and in game the same part i think is missing signs (appears like unused part of track while is not) .

and two years after, the bugs are not solved...... Does sms really think I'll buy PC 2 ??????

Because that's not a bug ?.. the track map shows correctly where the race track goes.. and the red bit shows where the pit entrance is. There is nothing missing from that track map
