I just entered my first non-race session, in this case a practice session. It's an invitational event, the Road TD Brands Showdown.

But the Monitor option during practice is greyed out and can't be used, even when cars are out on track? I've seen in videos that you can view other cars on track while in your garage so why is this greyed out?

Also in the pause menu for races I've done so far, the Retire To Pit/Box option is also greyed out. Are we unable to simply retire from a session via the pause menu? Seems odd.

1. The pit monitor option will only be available when you where on the track for once at least
2. The retire to pits option becomes available after ~1 lap

You don't have to. It's not explained anywhere. I just know it from experience playing the game (which you can't have obviously). :)

I do have one question; I know career mode at the moment is primarily single player, although I've heard rumours here and there of the mention of co-op career. For me, and friends I play with, the biggest disappointment for us is the lack of drivers we can have on track when playing together. We both play on the Xbox One, and online you can have a maximum of 16 drivers, either players or AI. In single player however, you can have more than double that, making the single player far more appealing to play. It would be nice to see either an increase in the number of AI allowed in private matches online, or to implement a co-op career feature to allow two players to play either against, or with one another whilst in a more dense grid of cars - which was actually one of the factors within the game that caught so many peoples interest.

Is there any news on anything like this being implemented or in the works? :) Would love to know!

I'm going to guess that increasing the field number online might make for a less smooth experience and that's why there isn't more. I'm sure in an ideal world, there would be more.

Who knows though, maybe in future.

For online I could imagine this being an issue, for co-op career, or even just allowing additional AI cars in online private races - it would be nice. Having 40+ players in a session I can imagine causing huge problems, but AI drivers? - Even 2 player career with AI, I can't imagine much problems with that. I don't know though, just something that would be awesome to have. Multiplayer feels a bit empty at the minute.

Hi,

I just completed both carts in career mode, but I accidentally chose the 125cc again. Is there a way to quit the series so I don't have to do it again? also will that ruin my stats?

UPDATE:
Once I completed Nationals I was able to abandon the season, I should be able to do it from the start...

Quick question - how do you enter invitational races in the career mode ?
I have unlocked two but no clue how to join.
Thanks !

You just go to it on your calender when it's your next event I believe. You don't accept it from your emails like you do with offers.

So I'm not really sure what I'm missing but I just finished the whole Formula Rookie season and I'm not sure what to do anymore ? Only thing showing up on the calendar is the same ford escort invitational that I don't really want to do again. Do I just have to create a new career for every season I want to enter ?

Just started my new career, decided to start in karts instead of jumping to the Clio (I think it was) like I did last time. Great fun so far and just missed out on the championship by 1 point due to a mistake in the last 2 races that dropped me down the field.... But that's racing for you :)

I started my Career last night. Love the game by the way great job by the developers.

Started off with the Renault Clio's UK Cup finished the 5 race series. Won the Individual Championship and also the team Championship was proud of my Team mate he pushed hard to get points.

I have no accepted a new offer from another team, and will be competing in a cup i am just a tad unsure what it was called again LOL but will keep you guys posted.

So far so good :)

I hoped that I'll find a career mode with the capri... I like these old cars. So now I hope we will see it in the future - maybe with more cars like that.

And I hope we can store different Setups (per name) in the future. Would make things easier.

The contract offers for the next season will come when you finished all the left events (including Invitationals).
You can filter your Emails to contracts or invitations only, for a better overview.

Some people will have an idea about this. Which championships use Monaco (Azure Circuit)? Want my first laps at a track to be in career, have only done karts and invitational events so far. I'm guessing Monaco will appear in a lot of the Open Wheel championships.

I am a little confused by career mode. I won the championship with GT in my first season and now i am playing the exact same season again with the same car on season 2.This seems to be abit pointless. Is there not some kind of career progression or do i just keep playing with this same care on the same tracks season after season. I find the lack of information provided with the game to be most disappointing.

At the end of each season you're getting contract offers per email. You have to choose yourself where you want to continue in the next season. There is no auto-progression.

You don't always get contract offers. I won the Gianetta G40 championship and got no offers and season 2 was the same car, tracks again. I did get a contract offer for GT4 after my second season.

You should at least get a contract renewal offer by your current team. I always filter the mails to contracts only to easily see what I've been offered.

Two technical issues should be addressed to improve career mode.

1) Be able to limit number of Ai oponents - at least how many appear on screen, so as to improve framerate performance.

2) Why not allow us to set weather in a career race ? Again, this is not just cosmetic as bad weather AND LOTS of cars, cripples the pc performance.

Even if I get a monster PC, I'm gonna have to reduce graphics settings just to run career races compared to single player where Ai car number and weather can be controlled.

I have had invitations and it seems to be getting better each season..
I was wondering how many seasons there can be in Career is there a Limit???

I am now about to start the GT4 Series with the Aston Martin :D Cant wait.

Just won the Euro class with the A CLASS AMG love that car

My advice is avoid career altogether. Stick to multiplayer. 100 AI is too slow, they keep braking too late and getting bad exit. And that means you can't have them within a second behind or they'll pile into you. My first two weekends were the same: pole, 1st race win, 2nd race with reversed grid I get hit from behind all the time and grab small points.

My career have so far ben Gokart, superkart, formula rookie, LMP3/prototype 2 and now LMP2. So I hope to win LMP2 and then get a offer from Formula A or B...But I have still not goten a better offer then formula rookie in open wheel and don't understand why...Won everything in gokart, superkart and LMP3(with win everything I mean every championship you can win there, not every race...) And won nationals on formula rookie, and 2nd in the world championship 1point from 1st.

So now im in tier 2 for LMP2 and if I win this and still dont get a good open wheel offer then I start to give up on open wheel...

I started a new career in clio cup. My first career on retail project cars!

In the first race, I qualified on the pole by over a second at Donington National. Full race distance, 100% AI
The race start was seemingly good, but the second placeman and about 6 of his closest friends begin fighting with me for the initial 6 laps ^^; I could take the old hairpin faster but I was overall slower through the rest of the lap with my controller +aids and car setup. Making it easy for them to catch up by T1 which is historically my worst corner here...

Eventually one got around and drove into the sunset. I dueled with the others with passes/repasses for about another few laps until lap 9 or so when a driver divebombed into T1 slid out wide and onto the grass and gathered it back up for another bold divebomb into the old hairpin, slowing the cars behind me (and picking back off several of them) and I managed to get a 3 lap reprive.

Laps 15 and 16 were tight between me (P2) and P3 with the leader seven seconds down the road. I managed to hold off the challenge and finished P2 from Pole in my first race and claimed fastest lap somehow!

The second race was more trying. Starting P20 I worked up to P8 by lap 3 after a fantastic launch at the start. Called into pit but had a comparatively slow stop. Fought some minor battles through the cars on cold tires and ultimately salvaged 9th with fastest lap again. ^^;

4th in points and on to Snetterton....I love this game ;-;

You can choose whichever tier you like! But, if progressing through them as the game provides, you should have an email contract in your inbox for the next (or similar) tier.

Set race length to 100% before the session start ^^;

Edit: Update -
Getting into qualifying in Clio Cup at Snetterton. One of my weakest tracks. 15th of 20 in practice.

15minute qualifying. Leave the lane first. By turn three raindrop on screen. Then another. Next lap will have to be the one. Hustle the car to warm tires best I can. Come around to start the lap. Rain begins falling pretty consistently after the line. Track falls away throughout the lap. Sliding off the final corner. Cross the line. Pole. Everyone else way back. Come in and watch monitor while time ticks down. No chance. Way up on the time sheet. Track is totally wet.

5mins to go rain stops. Track begins rapidly drying. I decide with 3mins to go that I have to cover my time. Set out on a fresh set of slicks. Track still damp and cold. Slide around on my outlap way too much. Nearly lose control at the start of my final flyer. Delta is pointless. Lost too much time. Enter cruise mode. Times drop rapidly.
End of session win pole by a tenth.

Sigh of relief.

Finished both the kart series. Took a bit to master them and set the controller settings.
Had great fun in the invitational Ford Focus races (1 each season).
Had a huge wrestle with the Ford Escort classic, that was a pain and the drivers were pushing me around quite a bit...

Now to chose my next step: got offerings for open wheel, Clio and a GT3 (McLaren) offering... What to do.....
I honestly don't know....

I started out in the Clio Cup and it's been a blast so far. My first season went with up and downs and I eventually ended the season in 8th. No other contract offers but a contract renewal, so I went for a second season.
It's going much better now as I got more comfortable with the car. After 3 rounds I'm leading the standings, but with a narrow margin.

Starting the second season revealed a major bug in the game though: The weather patterns are exactly the same as in my first Clio season. This is really annoying as you exactly know when it's going to rain and when it's going to stop. This removes a big part of the fun of doing a second season in the same series. Hopefully this gets patched soon...

I started with Karts, which I was desperate to get out of, I kind of hated it. Now I'm in Formula Rookie, and I am enjoying it.

I found that car races are more difficult or competitive than Kart and Open Wheel races? With Karts and Formula Rookie I am thrashing the rest of the field, but when I do a invited car race, it's a tough battle, sometimes I finish midfield, other times it's a battle for the podium.

That's not a bug, that's a design decision (handcrafted vs. random).

It was a major topic of debate before release. I think the official response went something along the lines of 'currently the way we are building the career experience does not accommodate random weather'. It was also said that, because technically you won't be replaying the seasons very many times in a row, you would theoretically not remember the weather pattern of the season. (I don't necessarily agree with this, just relaying what was said).

To play devil's advocate, I can see where the Devs are coming from. They clearly wanted to showcase their weather for certain scenarios, and a random weather pattern could obstruct that. Hell, if it were totally random you could end up playing through the whole career without ever seeing any significant rain.

One other point, climatically places tend to experience similar weather at certain times of the year. For example, a race at Brands is probably going have some level of precip if it's held in October every year.

Maybe we'll get random weather later on.

Fryto
12-05-2015, 07:19
Maybe they should add some more scripted weather pattern sets then to the career, instead of having just one.

I see the point that completely random weather could compromise the career experience, but so does having the same weather patterns when doing the same series twice (imho)...

If the series were longer, it would be less of a problem I think. But seeing that most series are only a handful of races, you remember pretty well when it'll start or stop raining.

I started out in the Clio cup, found it fun. Then progressed to Gianetta Junior stuff. The I realized that the GR.A class cars were not a league its self in career and started a fesh career.

Now I am racing open-wheels. Have to say it has been very fun thus far and very competitive in Formula Rookie.

Lets hope so, i do like the career mode but i am a little dissapointed by the lenght of the championships. A lot of classes (fi formula rookie) only has 2 races.
Or is there a setting somewhere that i am missing?
To be honest i dont really want to switch classes everytime. Currently in the Clio Cup and planning on doing so next season (its 5 races so thats not as short as others). The weather thing kind of kills that indeed!

Will there be a mod or patch to change amount of races?

The Ai and the Ivites are a bit silly, I do Shifter Karts and bombarded with invite events signed superkart season and have done 5 invite seasons and still havnt raced the the Superkart yet, planning of this is a bit stupid im currently doing the Lotus Historic 98T 7 race invite championship fresh out of shifter karts before Superkarts kicks in, in 2 months, yeah right.... And the Ai in changeable weather is a JOKE, Lotus at Zolder took Pole pretty comfortable considering gap at most tracks, race starts lead by 1.5seconds then lap 4 rain starts I think ok hot slicks ill stay out....ummmm wrong move slide off wreck car.. so I watch Ai lap times they stay on slicks and only lose .5 per lap WTF so first time ever restarted the race and planned to pit end of lap 3 knowing rain would fall... good plan however AI don't pit and I cant even match their pace on wets in pouring rain.... HUGE oversite that's gonna kill this mode for me and wanna bin it. Its all good to add in all the dramatic weather to the game but if the AI don't drive to conditions especially changeable weather whats the damn point...

This is just the local championship. If you're good enough you'll advance to the global series that has 3x2 races. That's 10 races in total (and you can start in a different local series every season) in one season not including all the invitational events.

That scripted weather is terrible. I know the AI can be off in changeable and wet conditions which will hopefully be adjusted, but scripted weather? I'm honestly stunned that it's been done. I wish I hadn't found out. Certainly makes me look at career a bit differently if weather can be scripted throughout.

What a start to the LMP2 World Championship... It at Monza, a track I know and should have a fight for pole and wins, but...Qualy lasted for like 0,5laps, I went out got 1 wheel in the gravel when I was about to accelrate, so I spun hit the wall and lost front right wheel. So I decided to try and get the car to the pit with 3wheels, but before the last corner: Engine blown. Great, start in 20th(last)posision in the 2 first races of the season(I know I can hit return to pit and continue, but thats not fun and realistic...)

So to easy sum up the 2 races:
Race 1: Engine Blown
Race 2: Engine Blown

Im not 100% sure, but I do think that this race weekend did not get me closer to my goal, Formula A...

Nice! After finishing GT4 US yesterday I decided to take a seat in the Endurance Championship in an LMP1. The first race (100% times/distances and 95% AI) was pretty brutal near the end. In the 3 hr race I took the first half, and expected my co-driver (the AI) to take the race. Well, he was 15 seconds slower than me, unfortunately. I had to retake the car and try to drive it to the finish for the last hour. We had pace for the top step, but my co-driver needs a little more training as he thinks about how we ended up 5th :D
Tomorrow morning we have Sonoma (100% everything), which should be an easy win, but you never know.

I love the career mode, but I wish there were a way to either disable or modify the difficulty scaling. In the 125cc Karts, the AI is competitive at 80 or 90% in a single race, but in career mode they're 4-5 seconds off my pace at 100%. It's also confusing in general to have a difficulty slider that isn't the real difficulty the AI will be using in the race.

Without a doubt this is the most disappointing and worst decision I've heard of yet it's this game. Scripted weather? So every time I do Silverstone in the GT5 it will be heavy rain? That just sounds astoundingly shortsighted and so disappointing.

Don't know if this was mentioned before:

AI drives way faster in Practice than in Qualilfy (ie. Lotus Class of 86 are up to 10secs faster in P, than in Q). Which makes Practice with the AI a bit worthless for finding the right difficulty setting for Q/R, as AI speed is currently very inconsistent (track/car dependent).

Also at the end of a event, the cursor is placed (randomly?) on different positions (sometimes Restart, Exit, even on Abandon Season).. should always be placed on first position (Continue).

Happend a few times to me i "restarted" a perfectly fine Q/R unintentionally.

Hello
First of all sorry if do not write in the right Thread, that's my first forum trial.
I enjoyed Formula R where I started my carreer, but the position during qualifications seems a bit strange to me.
If I do good then I get the pole, which is clearly understandable, but if I am not that good then I get always the last position. I never got any position else than first or last !?
Did I forget something in the game tuning? I tried all menus but did not found anything to tune.
Did anybody experienced the same behavior? Is there a way to change it and get intermediate qual position?
Thanks a lot

I noticed this as well, currently i am doing a career on 80% difficulty, but i up it to 90% in q to get decent times.
Otherwise the ai is much faster in the race then qualifying! I think the devs know since it has been discusses, they are working on it!

Thats brilliant dude. Sounds fun. I cant wait for the endurance racers!!! Hopefully get an invite sooer or later :D I would also ask whats the longest and differents types of endurance racers your getting? How long are they taking.

The American Endurance Championship has a 3hr, 3hr, and then a 6hr. I am not sure if that leads to the WEC, which has 6hr, 12h and 24h races.

Anyone here experienced a career race where your car lost its power on 2nd to the last lap? I had a race on clio 15 laps 85% AI, i was leading for good 2 seconds then on lap 13 my car lost its power and i was 4 seconds slower. on that lap i didnt even reached gear 6 where i used on previous laps. lap 14-15 all my power returned and finished the race in 6th and lapping same time on laps 1-12.

Class of 86, 5 Lap race

Lap 1: Whole field starts on rain tires (but it isn't raining yet).

Lap 2: Half of the field comes in for slick-tires (great for me, as i'm staying on RT).

Lap 3: Surprise, rain is starting.

Lap 5: I'm getting easily passed by 3 cars on slicks in heavy rain (really HEAVY), which pitted in Lap 2.

(Not) good fun! :D

Interesting. After winning GT4 I had two Formula B offers, four GT3 offers, and one LMP1 endurance offer.

I just finished the 3hr Sonoma endurance race in somewhat odd fashion.
I was at the wheel for the first two hrs and then handed it off to my AI co-driver to finish the race. I knew there were some odd things going on with the AI in general because there were damaged cars driving on the track for a few hrs. The AI did a decent job of keeping the 3 lap gap I had made. We were in 1st with 20minutes to go. With 8 liters in the tank I told the AI to come in and pit. "No!, I can make it!", he seemed to say. Ok...maybe he will come in next time. Nope. He ends up running out of fuel with 7 minutes to go. Wow. I was just blown away. Luckily I had those few laps on the other guys. But, plot twist. On the last lap of the race (I am watching from the garage at this time), all the AIs go bonkers and try to drive through the walls of the last hairpin over and over again. The race never finished.....

So, I had to exit, then I entered the race again with the lowest time and AI difficulty so that I could just get my car points. :/ it's unfortunate that I had to do it that way in the end.

Next up, 6hrs @ Road America. With all the crazy stuff that has gone on those last two races, I don't trust my Co-driver to be honest.

Similar thing happened to me but in a 3 lap race, started on slicks, started raining 2nd lap no time to pit, tried to stay out- disaster. Restarted on wets, car too slow against those on slicks, race is lost by the time it starts raining and seemingly the Ai can drive on any tires in any weather! No other cars pit, ever.

No, it is not necessary. I kinda wanted to have that "extra" bit of endurance racing feel. I am starting to rethink my decision.

To the guys doing endurance races. Have you noticed a dip in engine performance over the length of a race? I am thinking it's due to some engine damage. No biggie.

No, month was march and last event was "Class of 86@Sonoma" (which was a good race anyways... because it wasn't raining) ;)

All april events were greyed out.

Edit: Probably this isn't really an issue, as i didn't had any regular events in april. Maybe switching to may would have worked out... i will also keep an eye on this issue (for sure i had other "invitationals" in april which were greyed out).

I just had a terrible evening today. I just wasn't on it at all.

It all started on Sakito(no clue how you spell it) International in the GT4 class, my qualifying times were terrible. They were around 4-5 seconds behind the best times. So I start at the back in 9 lap race, fine. I get a great start off the line, pass around 7 cars. Then I come to that horrible downhill section and totally lose it. That was pretty much race over. Nigh on exactly the same thing happened in the second race.

Then came Bathurst, a track I know very well. Same thing happened...Qualifying was terrible, racing was even worse. I even had to retire on the second race.

That is pretty much season over

I miss two major things form the career mode:
1) Consistency. It is great that AI drivers vary their ability from race to race and that would be wonderful in a multi make championship, but PCars championships are usually single-make events and thus the huge variance of AI abilities makes it easy to win. I just won a three race cup by finishing three times in 4th position.
2) Immersion. I'm just doing one race after another but I can't feel that I'm becoming more famous or more popular among the fans etc. There are no random events, collectibles like cars or flats/houses/mansions, contract negotiations. Basically there is nothing that would make me feel like being a racing driver...

Yeah it's a bit hard to describe:

Within the current Invitational-Event the "Jump to next Event" menu-entry is greyed.

However i can switch to the calender, move on to the next month and can enter my next Regular-Event without a problem that way (so after all it's possible to "skip" my unwanted Invitatonal).

But it's NOT possible to enter my next Invitational-Event via the calender (if there is another one before the Regular), which i perhaps "want" to enter.

So skipping events works currently a bit inconsitent/puzzling...

Edit: Made a little photo-story (happens also if all event are in the same month)

203715

1. Historic@Oulton: entered, ran practice, didn't like (which in fact is a lie, but as an example :P), can't jump to next event (anymore)

203716

8. Historic@Brands: moved to via calender, can't enter

203718

12. GT4@Zolder: moved to via calender, can enter (skip my unwanted Historic@Oulton to GT4@Zolder... but why i can't just enter Historic@Brands, the in between one)?

As soon as you joined a session of an invitational event series you are no longer able to skip them. As you can see, it is round 1 of 4 and you already drove the practice session. You can't skip the race sessions now because you already commited to participate in this series. No bug!

The only bug is, that you can jump to your regular career race through the calendar.

In fact i quite like this bug then, because i want to be able to skip every event i don't like (instead of running "sometimes" through two Q's and two Races).

Btw, i had also two other "invitationals" inbetween (Kart on 3th and M1 on 4th which you are only able to recognize if it's the current day).

I know this aren't high-priority issues, but little/confusing design flaws your'e thrown into at the beginning... just like the initial "player-tayloring" (confuses everyone!) :).

But I think contracts offers need looking at there is just a lack of contract offers

Or even info about said offers

I got offers for gt4 to drive a vantage, rapide, ginetta and mustang and 2 formula c
Picked the rapide even tho I knew it will be abit slower turns out its a pig of a car
Finished the national races 9th
Now my only offer is to renew no lower formula etc just renew a contract in a car that's a pig to drive
I might even have to start again after 6 season

i would not call a bug but last weekend i notice something that in my opinion is not correct.

in the end of 1st year i received a superkart contratct and a kart renew, i went to superkart. In 2nd season i receive invitation to gt3 or clio cup, i went clio cup. in the end of 3rd season i have gt5 invitation, so far so good and nothing wrong.
but in e-mail if a go to the "contract offers only" menu and scroll down i have yet with chance to accept the old offers that i received in the end of first season and secound, including the 125 / superkart renew contract and the old gt3 offer. yes, it was the same offer from end 2nd year (as well as the renew kart contract) and not a new gt3 contrat.

in my opinion this is not correct. An offer should only be valid in the end of the season. if i do not acccept it, the offer should disappear and not be possible to accept in next year. there is no sence to accept a kart renew contract when i am not anymore in kart last 2 seasons.

Started my career with Clio Cup. Was wildly inconsistent, starting with 10th, 12th in Donington, 1st and 6th at the second race (Snetterton?), can't remember for Silverstone, 4th and 4th for Oulton. After 2 rounds I was fifth, and was able to clinch it with double victory at Brands Hatch. Accepted offer to drive Ginetta next season, but haven't done it yet as I'm doing invitationals. Completed karts, winning the championship sharing the same points amount with 2nd place, and won the M1 Historical Race. Probably going to do the one where I drive the BMW 1M before starting the new season.

Wow this Career Mode sure is weird. Now not sure which path to take for Season 3. During Seasons 1 Karts and 2 SuperKarts ive done 17 Invited events/seasons including Lotus 98T and Lemans 24hr in LMP2 and Historics in Sauber Merc. with 19 Accolades. Little far fetched for a " Kart Racer " but anyway. Season 3 Contracts have popped up and after thinking it would only be Formula Rookie or Clio Cup to move forwards I was surprised to be offered these
Kart One ( again )
SuperKart ( resign deal)
Formula Rookie ( 3 offers )
Clio Cup ( 2 offers )
GT3 in McLaren
Formula C
LMP3 rookie ( 2 offers )
LMP3 Semi Pro
LMP2
Now not sure which way to go LOL. Kinda guessed to get all achivements you need to do them all eventually.

This feature is designed to allow you to go back and race in other tiers without having to start a new career. If you progress to Formula A but seriously suck at it and every race you finish last, then this feature allows you to go back to Formula B, Formula C, or Forumula Rookie, etc. the following year by signing a new contract. The alternative is that you would need to start a new career but I like the method they chose.

The problem I have are with the invitation races, they are simply greyed out, can't seem to enter event?

I started out in the Clios and got to Formula B in about 5 years I think. However I wanted to get the achievement/trophy for getting and winning the LMP1 championship within 10 years so I started a new career, 5 years in and have gone through Karts/Superkarts/Formula Rookie, LMP3 and now LMP1 Endurance which I'm guessing is not the same as the LMP1 championship?

I really enjoy the career mode, I just watch out for bad weather where I'll then do more laps and tweak the Ai down a bit otherwise its a bit poo.

I haven't started a career yet because I'm still not happy with the steering and brakes and also because of the AI shenanigans I've seen in doing 5 lap quick races. If you get into a career and get fed up with what's happening, the only way out of it is to delete that career and start all over right? I guess you could scale back the AI strength so you might have a chance to overcome it.

Started the WEC Endurance Championship and not having a good time so far! First race in Spa (I set to 4 hours) I lost what could've been an easy GT4 class victory after my engine blew up and had to retire. I think it's the result of me slightly tagging a LMP1 car when it did an emergency brake after Eau Rouge which caught me out after it had trouble lapping another GT4 car! Though the car didn't blow up until 2 laps after the initial contact, strangely on replays it showed smoke constantly bellowing out but I don't see this while I was driving? I would have pitted in otherwise if I seen how severe the damage was!

Second race in Le Mans (set to 12 hrs) was going fine and kept out of trouble for the first few hours. As I needed to do something in between I changed to the AI driver during the pit stop and let it do its stint. An hour and a half gone I was readying up for the change as it was approaching the pit lane with 0.5 litres of fuel... but then it proceeded to carry on to the next lap! "Noooooo pit in!" I yelled as I was scrambling to find the pit in button but it was too late, the car spluttered to a halt at the Dunlop Curves and blew yet another potential class win! :hopelessness: Thanks a lot AI Driver!

My question really is whether the AI Driver is aware of needing to pit in automatically when required or does it need manual intervention to send it in? Obviously on really long Endurance races it would really help if the AI knows when to pit in case if I'm not available for say like 2-3 hours and then resume after. Otherwise I better switch the auto-pilot off for the future races (and in turn crank down the hours of the race).

In my case it is rather random if the AI obeys your pit request fall. 90% of the time he/she ignores the request, or pits when not told to. It is quite frustrating as a few of my 100% endurance races have met an unfortunate end this way.

Hard to say for sure as it appears quite random but every time I've finished lower than 2nd (2 times) I've had offers in the same tier next time around.

I got flags when people approached during practice, do they move over in higher classes or in multi class events??

I've highlighted this elsewhere as I wanted my Ai driver to pit in during a race on Le Mans but there appears to be no manual way of doing it and seems to be pot luck, after he proceeded to follow GT3 cars without overtaking around the track for several laps (I'm in an LMP1 car!) he lost several places so I wanted to take control back. Luckily he came in after about 12 laps but an option to force the Ai to pit would be useful- sadly it was only another 20 laps later when the game crashed :grumpy:

Sadly I've had 4 game crashes now in the Endurance Championship so I decided to abandon the season which for anyone wondering simply moves you to the next season with a load of new contract offers so I opted for LMP2, I worried it would start me in a new career but I can confirm it simply moves on to the next season.

Can anyone point me to a list of the track variants used for each championship in sequence? I've started career in Clio and like to free practice before I go to the race weekend. Unfortunately, and perhaps I am overlooking it, but I can't find the track variant for the specific track. Case in point, Snetterton. I practiced on the 300 only to find the race on the 200. Next up is Silverstone and again, I really don't want to practice and fine tune my car setup only to find that it's not right for the track variant. Is there a master list posted somewhere on the internet? Thanks.

+1 I've requested knowing the track variant in the Ultimate Suggestion thread - definitely would be sensible and useful to have it shown on the race title page. :) In the meantime I've realised you can see the track variant if you "enter" the first part of the career race weekend, i.e. usually Practice - the next black menu screen (drive/tune etc.) shows the track variant in the top-left corner. You can now exit and get on with your own free practice. When you decide to return to your career you will be in the same place and will be able to start the actual race weekend practice session.

For the first time ever in a racing game/sim I actually like driving off line in the career ! so good job their SMS :beguiled: (coming from the PC side of gaming from win 95 and janes flight sims to Falcon4-BMS ,then racing from 2005 rf1 to (toss in some FPS's to AA,COD,BF4 ectt ..bla bla ...but mostly ,AC & rf2 and finally pCars I've simply been MP only ,no other game has got me to play off line so that's surprising to me haha ..

OK I have a question regarding career and the first season with the karts,
Do any of you get a practice and Q session in your kart career ?? I never get a practice session or a q session .. is this correct ?
in a thread on steam forums a guy says he has P & Q in his kart career ?? so rather than start a new thread I thought I would ask here as it seems a lot of career players here ..

as long as im here on a 2nd note I wondered about "free practice" since I did not have P or Q in my kart season the only way to practice was to use one of the other modes ,so I pic free practice I get the right track and my shifter kart ,, now I go into practice take a few laps and need to adjust the set up BUT I CANT ? because the ecs button only allows resume or exit .NO return to pit so I can't get to the tuning pages ?? if this is by designee I would suggest allowing the player to adjust sets in "Free Practice" in a future patch !

I ended up starting a MP session with the kart/ track so I could tweak my set ..

Now if I had P and Q in my kart career this would be a non issue for me ..

Thanks for any help , Loving the game so far :eek-new:

Won my first full race @ 100% difficulty today wohoo

I did qualify at 85% though. Don't think I would've made pole position on 100% and they were faster than me in the race. But not fast enough to overtake me in the curvy sections and I was blitzing with lower downforce and good exists every lap at the straight at Hockenheim :)

If you use the AI in the pit stop will it be equal to the difficulty setting you have. So if at 100 will the AI actually keep a good pace or start falling back?

So far I've done.. Clio cup > Ginetta Junior > GT4 > GT3 > Endurance

Now I'm pretty much at the end of the endurance been doing the WEC just got 1 more session I think at Road America. Any ideas on what the next options will be? Think I might go LMP1. Already had an offer but wanted to do endurance first.

NO!!! you do Season 1 Kart One Tier 8 once season is over and all invited events are raced or skipped at end of November a message will show saying end of season so check your emails for contract offers.. clearly you will get a Renewal for Kart One and Superkarts Tier 7, as seasons on one you will be offered more and all over the place especially if you do well and around the Tier 6 and 7 area. I suggest do the Tiers in order if you want Zero to Hero honour as I jumped from Tier 7 to Tier 2 for season 3 as I got LMP2 offer but that was mistake and have to go back to Tier 6 Formula Rookie in season 4 to get Zero to Hero back on track.

I've played through the 125cc karts and can confirm that there is no qualifying and also for some reason, there is no 'return to pit box'on three kart free practice. I assume that's because the kart tracks do not have a pit lane, nevertheless it is annoying

I kicked off my career in the Clio Cup. Nothing better than getting to grips with touring cars by focusing on some production car racing first. First rule of sim racing...set your car up properly.

First season was a real struggle - had to learn the tracks, braking zones, etc. Finished in 8th and was really happy to see that the game did not take the same approach as many others by sending crazy contract offers. Yeah, I was disappointed to not get an invite to a higher tier, but then again I did only manage 8th... and if I was the race boss of a higher tier, then I am am not looking at racers finishing 8th.

Resigned with my team and managed a 2nd place overall. Got two contract offers - one in karts, but that is not for me - so resigned with my team for Clio. Season 3 will start tonight and it is simple - win, win, win and take that trophy!

The races are much longer and I chose a different car, Aston V12 for GT3 and the 12C for Endurance. Locations are different too and you will have a 2 hour minimum at Le Mans. It was a different season and contract offer completely.

I find some of the offers skip a lot as I had offers for Formula A after the LMP2 which imo is too fast of progression so I went back to some old offers and chose Formula B.

With patch 1.4 doing practice and qualifying sessions in career now count as a race entry and restarting in any of the two also count as a race entry which is adding unnecessary race entries to my affinity. It may not seem important, but it is when their's a trophy/achievement built around it.

I was afraid of that. Oh well. Thanks!

Just finished race 1 at Brno in the GT3 Euro Championship. Led for 6 laps (out of 19), got passed, then was able to repass the next lap to take the lead again, which I held until the last lap. First time ever racing using manual tranny, but still fared pretty well aside from redlining before shifting several times. The gap between second place and I was never greater than 2 seconds. Start of the last lap it was about a second. Going into turn 12/13 messed up my shifts and shifted into 1st on accident, killing my line and my drive out of 13, losing the race (2nd place). Infuriating!!!

I am going for zero-to-hero and finished the first kart championship in Tier 8. Now, somehow I'm doing random championships and see no way to get back to the 250cc karts. I looked in the inbox and found a message that said I had changed affiliations and the new team owner said I was going to "make our 250cc Superkart sing", so it appears I was accepted. What the hey?

Edit: Abandon Season was the answer. Not the wording I would have chosen.

I just had a pretty dramatic race at Nürburgring with RUF GT3 career (90%) :) . I had qualified pole position and weather forecast said light rain so I put on Intermediates on. That was cool for two laps, but then the rain hit harder and I had to defend almost constantly, grip getting worse by the minute. There was just too much water and I couldn't hold them and two cars passed me and ran off. The rest were not fast enough although they were faster than me, and so I held them behind for a few laps. But then, as things grew more desperate, the sun started to glimmer through the clouds so this gave me hope of drying conditions if I just held on and this happened around lap 9. So I stayed out and tried to make good use of my intermediates in the drying conditions. By then, most of the field had pitted although I stayed out to race by myself for some laps, trying to hammer down as much as I could. On lap 17 it was clear to me that my tires had worn out in what had become dry conditions and I was losing time so then I went in to put on softs.

I exited the pit as the leader so it seemed my Intermediates strategy had payed off and I knew I was faster in dry conditions. Only, then I saw my fuel and was seriously wondering if it would last me the whole race. I started to change gears early to save fuel and the pack started gaining on me again. I realised it was probably not enough and so I started coasting on the back straight and start/finish and took defensive lines again. Again I managed to hold them although they were faster since I worried about fuel. I made a mistake on top of it, constantly being pressured from behind, and one car slipped by. This was lap 27 and on lap 28 I though "two laps to go, I should have enough fuel to race normally the last laps" and started to push hard to regain the position. I'm pretty confident I would have overtaken the leader in two laps (only just) but then I realised to my horror that I had calculated wrong ("lap 28 out of 30, that's two laps"...no it's not :)). I had 3 laps to go, not 2. I entered last lap with like 1, 4 liters of fuel left and I knew I had to save as much as I could and had to let off the throttle completely for long stretches to even hope to make it to the finish line. It was frustrating to see 6 more cars pass me by on my final lap due to this (telemetry shows zero fuel Before sector 3)! I ran straight over final chicane since I was litteraly running on fumes and I held my breath as I ran out of fuel completely after final corner... and rolled silently past the finishing line! Phew!

Got 4 Points still for 8th Place. :)

I'm having problems with FRookie.
If anyone here went Zero to Hero with AI 100% and Duration 100%, please take a look at my thread and see what am I doing wrong.

I have a quick question on fuel - can I change the fuel level before entering the first race?

I qualified poll positions for both races.

Yes. You can adjust the fuel for race and qualifying sessions separately in your tuning setup.

You can in Solo but not Online IIRC. When Solo you have the option to change your tuning options prior to each stage of any given event before you click to start the stage, whereas Online the stages automatically begin after 20 seconds of the previous one ending and there's no option to enter tuning between them.

Yes. Before selecting Drive, go into Edit Tuning and flip to the last option screen where you can change the fuel load.

With patch 1.4 doing practice and qualifying sessions in career now count as a race entry and restarting in any of the two also count as a race entry which is adding unnecessary race entries to my affinity. It may not seem important, but it is when their's a trophy/achievement built around it.

about 3/4 of my total race entries are because of restarts, its not giving an accurate picture at all on the driver profile.

is there a way to see if you have already completed an event when you are in the career mode calendar? Rather than having to check if you have the accolade in the driver profile network? When looking on the calendar it should tell you that you have already completed this event.

I already have read my problem somewhere on the forum, but did not found an explanation for it.
After viewing the nice golden cup for winning the kart one championship, I hear the voice informing me to look for new contracts in my inbox.
But there is nothing to find there. I only receive invitationals in the mail, tab contracts is as empty as a bucket with a hole in it.

someone got any ideas what went wrong?

Thanks

New contract offers will only appear when you finished your season (including finishing/skipping the invitational events).

No it does not help. I can drive the "Tri Nations 1000 GT Endurance" (and I have won it several times) but cannot reach the "Tri Nations 1000 LMP Endurance".
So I finished every GT Endurance Championship, including die Madness Endurance Races at the end of season (Green Hell, Le Mans & Bathurst). But there ist no contract offer for any LMP Endurance Championship. I just can repeat the GT Endurance Chamionships (two contract offers from different Teams). I am still missing:

a) Rising Sun 6 HR LMP Endurance
b) Nordschleife 12 HR LMP Endurance
c) European Endurance Championship
d) Tri-Nations 1000 LMP Endurance

Is there anyway to restart my career from the scratch?

I really didn't give much thought when I first started Pcars and have found since patch 3.0, which has settled down some bugs and improved Pcars, I would like to just restart my career.
Sorry if this has already been answered earlier somewhere. :D

I am on my first career after a few false starts and its really great. I started on the Clio Cup (dont like the carts) and the cars and circuits are superb on that career although I am having to vary my AI slider a little bit - for example the cars are beatable for me in Donnington on 60% but they are completely unbeatable around Silverstone at that. Seems to depend alot on how well they can take the corners of the circuits - Silverstone is a short course and the corners are mostly fast, whereas for some reason at Donnington the AI seems to struggle around a couple of corners. Snetterton is a brilliant track mind. Looking forward to Brands Hatch now which is one of my favourites.

I am wondering though - if you do the same circuits with the same cars in season two (which I dont mind at all - its realistic) does the weather stay the same as season one, ie will it be completely predictable or is it different for each season?

Also do the AI names remain the same as Season 1 in Season 2?

I'm trying to like career mode but I'm really struggling to get into it.

Don't get me wrong. I like the idea of career mode. I like the direction its going. But there 1 thing that makes me not want to play it.

AI - There too slow. Even at 100% diff. I'm in season 4 atm, gone through karts, superkarts and Formula rookie and now in GT3. Won every race in Karts except Glencairn races. Won every race in Superkarts, won every race in Formula rookie except the Donington races because it bugged out. Started pole, green light and I was last and had to spend the entire race catching up (which I didn't). Now in GT3 in the Asia Pacific championship. Sprint race at Sakkito and I won by 20 seconds and pretty lonely just hot lapping it. Making me ask myself should I bother to do the main race or continue career mode.

And I know the AI isn't slow like this. I had 2 great races in quick race weekend during the week. 100% AI both times. GT4 at willow springs and LMP3 at Imola and they were bloody great races. Fighting for 4th in LMP3 at Imola was best experience I've had in this game. Back and forth between me and 1 other AI. Faster down the straights I was but lose the small lead I made during the twisty section. Made for 20 laps of really enjoyable racing.

So I don't know why its so easier in career mode but its feeling really grindy and I just don't enjoy it.
Quick race weekend on the other hand is great. Races with AI I've had have really made the game enjoyable.

Ive seen a few posts like this and I just cant understand it. Admittedly I play the game with a joystick atm but I struggle to get about 60% and still get anywhere near winning (usually in the middle of the pack) and yes that is in the career. I cant understand it. Are you playing the PC game or console? Because all I can think of is the difficulty in the console versions must be porked to hell! I have been playing the Clio Cup, I get ahead in some corners and the AI takes other corners a bit better than me, we are driving pretty much level speed on the straights - so it pretty much evens out. I usually qualify first (by a second or less) but then in the race I struggle to get more than about 10th-15th. I usually spin out on a couple of corners admittedly.

But even so that doesnt explain the massive difference between some people who seem to have little challnge at 100% and myself where I have a major task to get anywhere near winning at 60%!

Of course this is with no aids on. Can anyone from the developers clarifiy if there is any variation in difficulty levels between the various versions. I would really like to know.

The AI is identical on all platforms. It really comes down to personal skill when racing against them. Although there are a few classes where the AI is particularly slow (GT5 for example).
But I have to agree that 100% AI is still a bit too slow. Even I am consistently winning against them and I'm by far not as quick as those alien drivers out there.

PC version. G27 wheel.

I have a theory it might be this adaptive AI thats slower in the lower tiers to simulate new drivers and the numbers might just be a little to extreme. Because to me they do seem allot more aggressive as wheel. Might go replicate career races in quick race weekends. See what the results are.

I can allways set the weather the same thanks to the scripted weather so I can eliminate 1 variable (I would give my opinion on scripted weather but its been written before)

Is there a list of all career events and the tracks used in each one of them?

I won my first season in karting, and got invitation in which I drove a Seven. I came sixth in the race, which I just accepted thinking it would be good enough to continue with. It seems you needed to nail this though to get more events/contract for road class... I this the case? Will I need to finish a full season of karting to get out of it? I mostly wanted to try it out, but I feel like I've had my fill with it :S

No, I don't think your results in the invitationals affects your contract offers. You only get new contract offers at the end of the season. So if you don't want to race any more invitationals at the end of the season, just skip them until you get to the end and then you should have some contract offers waiting for you in your inbox.

I know this is an old post but I've just figured most of these out.
First make sure you pick a GT Endurance contract with a LMP1 or LMP2 car. (If its not then you will need to skip through the calendar until the first championship race and skip straight to the start grid, wait for the green light and select "retire to pit" then select "skip to end of session". Then once your back to the calender go back 1 screen and end the career/contract).

To unlock:
Rising Sun 6 HR LMP Endurance - WIN Tri-Nation 1000 LMP.
Tri-Nation 1000 LMP - Becomes available when selecting GT Endurance Contract with a LMP1 or LMP2 car and it appears on the 12th Jan.
Nordschleife 12 HR LMP Endurance - WIN Rising Sun 6HR LMP
European Endurance Championship (EEC) - As someone already stated it will already be available on the calender but you have to select it as it takes place on the same day as another endurance event.

Hope that helps.
