I'm having a problem with manual gear shifting.
When changing up, the car sometimes stays in the current gear and won't change up. At worse, it shifts down!
Xbox One with standard MS pad controller.
Anyone having same issue?
Particularly prevalent on the start finish straight at Oulton.

Might be worth checking that AUTO CLUTCH is set to ON.

Yep, checked.
Got so bad today, the Ginetta junior got stuck in 1st and wouldn't change up. Cost me a win. Garbage.

I can confirm that I've experienced this as well on change up .. thought it was me not hitting the button properly the first couple of times, but after making sure, nope ... it's a bug. I've also had issues on manual down shift taking me from a high gear (5th or 6th) straight to 1st and causing me to crash. I've mentioned it elsewhere on these forums ...

50 well spent on another untested race title. The games industry loves muppets like me.

Sounds like you broke your gearbox through out the race.

Have you tested the shifting if you turn off "Mechanical Failures" in the options & Settings??

This would eliminate the possibility of a simulated gearbox failure.

Hi, thanks for the suggestion. I checked this yesterday to make sure and yes, I have it turned off, so its not that.
It's like driving a car that needs the gearbox oil changing. Maybe I should fill the controller with sawdust.........

Can't believe beta testing didnt pick up these issues. Must have spent a lot of time gawping at the pretty visuals and not actually racing!!!
I mean, this is really, game breaking basic stuff, isnt it?
"Put car in gear and drive. Change up. Oh, I can't. Maybe I should mention that?"

I'm using manual gears w/Auto clutch, everything drives ok, but the display for the current gear show N as the gear changes. Maybe that's how it's meant to work as the gearbox releases one gear and then picks up the rest. Just a strange thing to get used to.

OK, quick update:

Have changed the controller preset to option "3" and turned on traction control.
The result being a much improves gearshift and much improved steering response! Still not perfect, but at least the game is playable and good racing is possible.
Regarding the gearshift issue, turning on traction control seems to have improved it. I can only summise that it was due to slip or wheelspin under acceleration???
It's still present when upshifting from 3rd to 4th in the Ginetta Juniors, but it's not as commponplace as it was before I changed these settings.

Starting to love this game and can see the huge potential it holds. Already consigned Forza 5 to the bottom of the pile!
Hang in there guys and gals, it'll be worth it I'm sure!

Good spot there mate. I'll try the Ginetta in Free Practice and report back. Never considered the possibility of it being a Career exclusive!

I have mechanical failures turned off and auto clutch. I like using manual on controller with the right(sequential)stick as my gear shift. Car shifts well for awhile but seems like it starts to fail if I shift down too early in the revs too many times like it would if the mechanical failures were active. I am consistently having issues when downshifting and say I am in 4th gear then brake and try to go down to 3rd or 2nd. I is always jumping straight down to 1st gear and breaking the ass end free. If I am braking in a straight line which I try to do it does not seem to break free but still jumps 2 or 3 gears down into 1st. Occasionally it goes into neutral and cannot find a gear for a period of time. I am wondering if this is a penalty for my driving errors which are plenty. Gradually I want to get to full sim in the game but I need to learn the tracks first so I know what gear for what corner works best without taking me out of races in the beginning. I want to have fun and DNF's are not that fun.

This seems to be a glitch in the game that needs fixing RUsh. It has nothing to do with your driving. I just got a brand new fanatec clubsport H speed shifter and it does the same thing. at first i thought it was the shifter being defective until i played it with other games and it worked fine. SMS needs to fix this as well as the other issues before this game is thrown out by the racing community. Oddly the last game they did on console before this was shift 2 and it had potential to be a great racer but they didn't get the controls right and then things went south with EA before we could get the last patch and dlc

on xbox 1 I have also had problems with shifting up and down on the right dual stick or whatever you call it you know what i mean it wouldnt do it smothly or it would stick it into the wrong gear or becauuse of this the engine would blow on me so i had to switch over to the y and a controls as my shift up and down what a joke never had these problems playing gran turismo or forza slightly mad studios sort all this rubish out they should of had people like us testing the game out for them before they flung out a non tested piece of kit. they had 4 years of development?

Patch 1.3 appears to have fixed this (massive improvement at least - I still had issues notching 5th on the straight at Zolder in one lap in the Jaguar LMP3)

Shifting with the right analog is a pain because of the stick sensitivity. If you let go of the stick its so sensitive that it will shift again in the opposite direction as it bounces back to zero. 1.3 helped a little by adjusting the deadzones of both analog sticks but its still a little too sensitive for shifting. An added deadzone adjustment for the right analog stick in control options would be nice. That or just an overall decrease in secondary (non steering) analog input sensitivity.
