Hey guys, I have a question im hoping someone can answer for me.

The projectcarsgame website FAQ, says the Xbox One version is running at 900p 60fps.

But when I play, my xbox one setting is 1080p, and my TV says its in 1920x1080 60p

So the question is: What res is the game playing in?

It's correct, it only runs at 900p.

The game engine renders at 900p, the Xbox One scaler upscales/downscales to whichever resolution you have selected in the settings app.

Xbox one cannot achieve full 1080 its well documented, 900p is best. Apparentely down to the O/S reserving some gpu/cpu power.

So would it help with frame rate loss, if I were to select 720p?

Would it be less of a strain on the Xbox one's graphically challenged video card in 720p?

Not entirely true. There's been plenty of 1080p games on the console; Forza 5 was 1080p at launch with a locked 60fps, however it is true that the console GPU is under-powered compared to that of the PS4.

No, the console will still render the game at 900p internally and then downscale to 720p.

Ok, so its getting scaled regardless.

Would it look better being scaled up, or scaled down then? Or is that just dependent on how good someones eyesight is?

That's when it starts to get a bit complicated! If you let the console downscale to 720p, your TV will then scale the image to fit the resolution of the panel. The image would probably be blurry and softer, but some people prefer that. For me, sharper is better so I let the console upscale to 1080p.

Yeah, Ive just been playing it set at 720p, and it definately seems softer and blurry. It still looks good though, but I'm going back to the 1080p setting. As that is the sharpest of the two.

It seems ridiculous to me, that the Xbox cannot simply output in 900p.

Thanks for the help @SeanSAFC89

Hey Xbox hater, why not learn your facts.

The XB1 most definitely can run games in 1080p. Dead Rising 3, Forza, Sunset Overdrive, The Crew, just to name a few.

As to the locked memory you're talking about, once again you're wrong.

That memory was reserved for Kinect functions, and was "released" to developers over 6 months ago.

If a game isn't running in 1080p on the XB1, its because the dev involved doesn't know how to accomplish it.

So, don't blame the XB1.
