Note: I have posted this exact same topic 3 february 2013 at the WMD Forum (http://forum.wmdportal.com/showthread.php?12638-Trackday-Touristenfahrt-Mode-(DLC-)&p=372318&viewfull=1#post372318). Where I got some great response, feedback and 112 likes (so far). Unfortunately no official word on this. Now I wonder what you guys think!

Hi everyone,

Last week I read the newly released 'Race Weekend Design' document, it got me thinking again. Several months ago I mentioned the addition of a trackday mode, it could be a good way to use the street cars. These aren't of proper use yet (except for simple leagues) Besides, I'm a big fan of these days. The unconstrained atmosphere and cool cars makes it very fun to visit. Here's what I had in mind:

BASICS
Trackdaymode could be considered as an online practice+ mode, with several additions and restrictions. The session will be permanently open with possibilities for the players to join and exit whenever they want. The pitlane can be used for setup sharing, chatting and simply taking a break. Join the race whenever you like.

CARS
Obviously all of the streetcars are allowed at these events. However in real life it is occasionally allowed to take your race oriented car as well, in moderation of course. For example: a Z4 GT3 would be too extreme but a M3 GT4 (which is a trackready streetversion) would be tolerated. Same goes for the Group A M3, Radical SR4, classics etc.

(Interesting detail: Since this year racecars such as VLN contesters are not allowed during Touristenfahrten)

TRACKS
Apart from point to point tracks every circuit can be used for trackdays.

TOURISTENFAHRT
In case my concept of trackdays isn't as popular as I thought, I have another similar idea. The Touristenfahrten is a concept in itself. In fact, the Nurburgring-Nordschleife got it's notoriety because of the infamous trackdays held there. Almost every weekend the track is open to the public and ready to be raced on.

The same rules as normal trackdays would apply. But now we won't have a normal pitlane. Dottinger Hohe and the Adenauer Bridge will be used as start point. Dottinger Hohe will also function as 'pitlane'. Park your car for setup changes, quick break etc.

Just like in real life: Drive up to the gate, past the pylons and let the fun begin!

This has never been done, so please let me know what you guys think :D I think this would fit perfectly in our game and push the boundaries in simulative motoring. Cheers!

For clarification, a quick feature list:

- Session is always open
- Use the pitlane whenever you want
- Streetcar and mild racecars
- Realistic realtime weather
- All tracks can be used

- For Touristenfahrt - added parking, automatic gate and pylons (not crucial, could be awesome)
- Availability to kick players (through voting)

And a possible carlist. (click here for the cars within these classes (http://forum.wmdportal.com/showthread.php?13424-Latest-Car-Career-Proposal&p=409790&viewfull=1#post409790) )

I'm not allowed to share the complete list in the public forum due to upcoming DLC cars, but here's a brief selection...in total you'd get around 70 cars to choose from. Everything basically except Le Mans proto's, GT3's and Formula cars.

- Historic Touring/GT
Ford Escort RS1600 and similar
Ford GT40 mk.IV and similar
- BMW M1 Procar
- Group A TouringCars
BMW M3 E30 and similar
- Touring/GT/Super 2000
Renault Clio RS Cup
BMW 320TC and similar
Ginetta G40 and similar
All GT4's
- Prototype Semi-Pro Series 1 and 2
Radical SR3 and similar
Caterham SP/300.R and similar
Streetcars
Everything with a license plate ;)

And this could be a very extended version of this mode:

Just like in real life actually. Eventually, the mobile toll booth could be removed to create a lane for those who don't want to stop.

edit: Fixed images.

I was hoping for something like this with official release. Sign me up on the list of people who want this!

Thanks Greenie! Please click 'like' so the developers have a quick oversight of the popularity ;)

Even Assetto Corsa has a similar mode now:

And for Project CARS, I even made some skins to go along with it:

All (and even more variations) are available in the download section of this forum

Ah yes please!

In AC all I drove on was TOURISTENFAHRT. If pCars had this, i'd most likely only use TOURISTENFAHRT, too.

Heck I'd even pay for it as a DLC!!!

yeah, you have to be a WMD Member in order to see that Page Unfortunately, but mostly its 13 pages of people saying that they would love for this feature to be added.

What a great OP! I am totally behind this feature, Id love to have a proper track day system introduced.

Is there any way to become a WMD member? Im sure theres some really interesting threads in that section of the forums! even if it was view only. Its annoying as I wanted to become a WMD member not long after it was shut away from new members and even now , after a couple of years and paying for PCars Im still denied access to something Id still like to be part of.

Thanks guys, I really really appreciate your comments! And no need to become a WMD Member, I made the carlist more complete. Now you know which cars I meant. That way, you'll get around 70 cars to choose from. Everything apart from Le Mans Proto's, GT3 and Formula cars basically.

I really hope your idea will become a reality soon! I would like it booth online and offline against AI.

I also want TOURISTENFAHRT !

I smell an interesting idea there so it'll be interesting to find out if it's in with a sniff of a chance of being included. Hopefully they'll include an option to allow us to wind down the windows, though.

I also second this trackday -never ending practice- online mode idea.

On his second point, the tourist layout of the Nordschleife is my best memory from rfactor. Spent many hours there. But having the original pitlane is pretty awesome as well.

YES!!! I would pay extra for this as a DLC!

I personally love trackdays, they are social and have a wonderful aspect of "chance" to them (something this game desperately needs - this game it almost too formal sometimes).

NB: there is only one rule I suggest the DEVs include in making this happen for us (please!!); if you wreak your car you're restricted to the pit lane for 30 mins (do not pass go - do not collect $200); same applies if you wreak another drivers car (crash into another car with enough force).

Also would like to see this ingame, beacuse many teams in reallife use trackdays as a small test BUT: Please, please SMS bring us first the feature to drive ourselves into the pitlane. Its simply adds that touch of realism, when you drive into the pitlane take on the pitlimiter and have to be careful of people there walking around, photographers, other cars standing around or a little bit in the way, or yourself standing in the pitlane or box and want to explain something to your engineer. That all adds a a lot of immersion to the game and would be the icing on the cake. What i really want is to capture the hecticness that goes around in the pitlane at a test/trackday or full raceweekend and that first start with driving yourself in or out of the box/pitlane.

Hope you guys working in this.

I think that would be awesome! I don't think it should be paid though. It's not like it's a whole new track, Your just adding a couple things on to the track and a small parking lot. Then include it in an update.

Yes please! Great idea, esp. to have it running permanently online.

Before pCars war released I hoped to have some Kind of "normal traffic" on the Point-to-Point tracks. But youīre all on your own there, if not in race mode. But I donīt like to race the Point-to-Point tracks, Iīd prefer to go slow and enjoy the landscape. Would be a good way to relax after racing in career mode. I had another idea like having a bit of an "open world" for the road cars. Cruising from a City centre out to the Country side in a convertible would help me over the Long cold winter months, while my real convertible is sleeping down in the Garage, waiting for next summer to come...

So yes, please devīs read this thread and implement it asap! :-)
