View Full Version : Struggling with T300RS

Struggling with my wheel. It's really heavy, and the force to take the wheel back to the centre is too high. After coming out of a corner I'd like to let the wheel slip back to center as I would in a real car, but it's far too strong and ends up snapping back so hard that it counter steers in the opposite direction. I've set up the FFB settings as per my own spreadsheet, so it's not that...

More serious issues are that the wheel isn't central - when pCars starts, the top blue line on the wheel itself is maybe 10 degrees to the right. I launch the calibration and when it says to fully lock the wheel the calibration says '96' - I have to force the wheel past it's soft lock to get it to 100. Driving an Audi GT3 car I expected my wheel to lock to the same rotation as the GT3 wheel itself, but it doesn't - when the car in game stops being able to turn it's wheel, my T300RS will carry on turning and it leaves me with about a turn and a half of no control whatsoever until the wheel gets back to the physical limits of the GT3. I thought the wheel would stop at whatever the in game car can do?

I've never used a wheel before so not sure if it's just because I'm getting used to it, but it feels extremely heavy and stupidly hard to control compared to a DS4 controller.

On top of this, can anyone give some deadzone/sensitivity settings for when using a wheel? I'm not fond of how it handles by default.

Try this https://doc-0s-c0-docs.googleusercontent.com/docs/securesc/ha0ro937gcuc7l7deffksulhg5h7mbp1/4gq29c8j23olp9uehv66l1q5v83v82ej/1431626400000/06069516248532666377/*/0Bw5ulCOYvLckYUlFOURuX2RRU1U?e=download
If it's too heavy try turning down the FB to 75. When calibrating the wheel on the 90d one make sure it reads 900. Hope this helps.

I'm not with the ps4 to check any figures but I'm very pleased with my t300.....none of your issues with mine, so it will be the set up rather than the wheel itself that needs attention

Realignment instuctions here. You need to do this in the ps4 home screen not in game.

I'm sure it is, but aside from following my own FFB spreadsheet and doing the calibration as the game tells me, I don't know what else I can do.

Did you actually try this? I tried yesterday but I absolutely don't understand the instructions. How am I supposed to press start and select at the same time with this wheel? Start / select should actually be "options" / "share" on PS4 or not? But the problem is, options / share is the switch on the bottom right and you cannot turn in two direction at the same time.

Is it me or is it the manual?

4) Make sure that your racing wheel is perfectly centered ; while holding it in this
position, press the START, SELECT & MODE buttons simultaneously :
* PS & GT WHEEL = SE + ST + MODE

@ Wootball - Try setting Tire Force = 65 and FFB = 100. I find that this gives a more realistic general turning tension/stiffness whist still allowing yu to feel bumps in the road and rumble strips.

I did read that but what is the SE-button or the ST-button? There is no such button in the PS4-mapping and I don't know what they mean

See the mapping in the manual: http://ts.thrustmaster.com/download/accessories/Manuals/T300RS/T300_FGTE_manual.pdf.

I was having the same issues, for me it turned out I did not have the wheel calibrated right. If it isn't calibrated from the start the whole process will become VERY frustrating. Here is a clip on how to calibrate the wheel the right way....

It is :)
And it works fine. It's just a little off center to the left.

This won't help, as my question is specific to the T300.

I don't mess around with settings as I like every car to feel different and as it was intended. It seems to me there is definitely different code for each cars ffb. Tuning the wheel would diminish the experience of what each car is. I know I could dial out some tension and work less hard over curbs and go faster, but I like sawing at the wheel and the occasional tank slapper and realism and for every car to feel like it's supposed to. Dialing the twitchyness out of an atom just doesn't seem sporting, but I know it will help you go faster.
But to your question, Left or right on d pad plus mode button changes the rotation up or down in four steps. 900,1080, I know. probably 270 and 540? That's what the inside simracing video said anyway. Was not in documentation.

See the mapping in the manual: http://ts.thrustmaster.com/download/accessories/Manuals/T300RS/T300_FGTE_manual.pdf.

You've got the T300RS right? If so, look on the wheel itself. At the bottom in the middle is the PS button. To the left is the SE button and to the right is ST.

As for me, I've made a few tweaks tonight and centered the wheel and it's like night and day - really pleased!

Press, OPTIONS, SHARE, and the MODE button.
The way I do it is press and hold the OPTIONS button with my little finger(right hand), then while still holding the OPTIONS button, I press the SHARE button with my index finger(right hand), and then while still holding OPTIONS and SHARE, I press the MODE button with my left hand.

Please note that I am having the T300 GTE Ferrari wheel. The Options/Share-Button on this wheel is accessible via a rotary switch. You can not turn it in two directions at the same time.

Anyway, I found the solution. For the GTE version, you turn it all the way to the left, all the way to the right, center it and hold the mode button, click the button that is labeled "scroll" and pull the right shifter.

Ah, gotcha.
Give me a few minutes, and I'll post the instructions on how to calibrate your wheel.

OK, for your wheel, its BO + WET + MODE.

1) Connect the racing wheel's USB cable (on PS3/PS4or on PC), then wait for the
auto-calibration phase to end.
2) Turn the racing wheel fully to the left (until you reach the stop).
3) Turn the racing wheel fully to the right (until you reach the stop).
4) Make sure that your racing wheel is perfectly centered. While holding it in this
position, press the BO + WET + MODE buttons simultaneously. (If you are struggling with this, have someone else press the buttons for you, while you hold the wheel centered.)
5) The racing wheel's LED briefly changes colour, then reverts to its initial colour. This means that the wheel's center value has been reset
and automatically saved to the device's internal memory.
(you do not need to repeat the procedure every time you connect the racing wheel)
This applies to all of the T300's wheels (PS, GT, F1, 458 GTE, etc.)

Here is the link to the instructions -

I know it isn't a t300,that wasn't my point,it just shows the proper way to calibrate a wheel including the t300
