View Full Version : Blind spot warning planned?

I find it really hard to know if an opponent is on your left or right side in the blind spot. I really think Project Cars needs some kind of warning for that, either graphically like the arrows in GT6 or some kind of audio warnings like in iRacing (would be a nice addition tho the DS4 audio from Ben Collins). Playing with realistic field of view (44 in my case) it seems almost impossible to do clean close racing.

That would be so handy, especially considering how most drive online :p Driveclub did this well, used an arrow pointing to the direction of cars coming from behind. Helps so much to avoid unnecessary collisions. I hope they can implement a feature similar to this.

do you not use your rear mirror and map to see this?

This is certainly on the devs radar - it may even be a 'coming but not sure when' thing. It's been widely requested (by the community and, in hindsight, some of the SMS team.

Ian Bell (Boss at SMS) has stated that they will implement a Spotter Function later...

How exactly is not defined...

I have mapped the buttons for look at left/right. When I know there is some car on my left that i before saw in mirror I'm just stay in my right racing line and left him some space on track until i have see him in my mirror again or in front of me. So where is the problem?

Not enough buttons

I concur that this feature is very useful on Driveclub, the indicator arrow fades in and out to give an idea of just how near they are too.

Its more when opponents are in a blind spot, to the side and behind slightly, you can only see directly behind with mirror. You can look right with right stick, but this only has a certain angle of movement and hard to do when cornering.

Sounds good about being on dev's radar. Hopefully they will implement this soon :)

If I had a choice I would choose a better surround sound mix over a blind spot indicator.

+1 This feature works well in GT6. I'm able to use bumper view off the line in online races without causing a multi car pileup, lol.

Not enough buttons

Yeah I have run out of buttons as well on my T300. Can't assign the look left or right, so I am just going on a guess of were the other person is and just hoping they don't take me out!

Would also be handy for exiting the pits, not sure about all tracks but I raced monaco last night and mirrors are useless until your out on the straight and the map doesn't show the cars until they are practically on top doing 150mph+ whilst your doing 40mph so had a few accidents exiting the pits. I don't think this is a game error by any means but could be something the dev's might want to look at improving.

People will just use it to block your line. No thanks

If your running a league and it is being run properly then this is not the case.
In real racing you get to defend your position with one move, not several! The same is implemented in leagues!

So these detectors are not needed in league as well...

It was useful in the formula 1 games, but Forza 4 did not have it and managed ok. I think for me the big thing that needs to be worked on is deterring drivers from actually punting people off. It seems much more important that people are punished for going off track. Don't get me wrong, I like that, but why should you lose out because some rams you through the Corkscrew at Laguna Seca and they carry on with no penalty?

There is an excellent app for Assetto Corsa named "Helicorsa". It was made by genuine effort of the community members so that close online racing be made possible.
It works very well in providing opponents position when out of viewing range. I am on PC but something similar in Project cars on all platforms rather than usual arrows will be much better.

Helicorsa (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-QYiXwAUOM) is fantastic. Would love to see something like that in pCARS.

Spotter will be added in the future.

Looks like we should move this discussion to that thread as the devs are thinking of something along the lines of a voice prompt which doesnt appeal to me....

It might be worth mentioning the Helicorsa app to them, incase they arnt monitoring this thread.

It's a bad idea, unrealistic and people will just use it for blocking

That's great! But one request please let it be a visual indicator on screen not something through the DS4 which for a lot of people using headsets is unusable.

Thats not the impression i got from the other thread. He doesnt like "arrows". He wants voice prompts.

Hahaha. Morpheus is for porn goggles bro. Game developers can hardly keep up with the schedules dictated by Sony or Microsoft. I laugh at people thinking these are going to be integrated by the developers. There's a big difference between the content going on porn goggles, and the gaming market. The hardware is independent of the software I think. Two different things. Maybe on PC. But as it stands, we can't even get core app support on playstation. The Morpheus will be a gimmick for gaming, no content. Plenty of porn content I'm sure for those that know what it will be. But these are not even on the radar of the major game studios I don't think. The demos they run on that crap is like Jenga or some other basic software. Nobodies porting the major hits to Morpheus.

That's going to be as hard to implement as accurate flags? Can't see them getting that info there in the right and timely manner needed if the yellow or blue flags get communicated so slowly/poorly currently.

I don't like informative indicators either though. People will use them to block. I think a better audio mix is the right answer. Should hear it coming. Or maybe just a red indicator at rear of car that changes intensity as car gets closer, but does not give away right or left position, just behind. That would work in place of a good audio codec.

We're all living in Matrix already and many of us enjoying it.
