*Warning, the following thread is not a rant.

On numerous occasions I have been what appears to be fouled in play. When reviewing these incidents I can't help but think 'Jeez...that looks really intentional.' I was wondering if anyone else knows if tactical contact is a feature; I'm not complaining about it as tactical fouls are present in other games like FIFA, I'm just curious. - Dat Brit Gamer.

theres no such thing as tactical (contact) foul in road racing, so the short answer is -- no, they shouldnt be.

however i have seen AI veer into my car when side by side & such things.

Watched the Porsche cup race today. Honestly, our AI are angels compared to that. Every other overtake was by pushing the opponent off.

Yeah it's carnage at times.

Haha.. A destructive mix of "money is my entry requirement" and giving the cars back to Porsche a year later. A family friend that races in many PCA classes and Cup, has actually passed people in the grass out of anger.

If you're referencing the Catalunya race today then I'll never complain about the AI again.

Yup, that's the one. I think I saw two clean overtakes among about twenty 'not so clean'.

That's the art of touring car racing. Formula One at the moment is a Saturday afternoon friendly cricket match whereas Touring and GT races equivalent to a rugby cup final!

Touring Cars has got to be one of my favorite sports to watch.

i like rough AI, they fight for lines and will run you off if you don't give them room. I think it's far better than the passive AI in the codemasters F1 games or the drivatar shit in forza that can't even take the first turn.

That explains where Codemasters got the model for their AI then - Grid 2/Autosport LOL

If AI knocks you off it's probably because you're to slow or have set their strength to hard. Or are you taking a dump in the middle of track.

It usually happens when I'm on a good lap and on the racing line, that's why it seems deliberate or competitive.

If they're that close then you might need to switch the 'racing line' for the 'defensive line' - should stop them dive-bombing if you move over early enough.

You have to adjust your driving attitude, if you will, depending on which series you are in. Open wheel for example is far less forgiving than cup/touring cars. You have to give the AI respect and space in some cases just like you would in a real race. Yes it can be frustrating at times but so is life. I'm sure the AI would have a discussion about us humans if they could.

I thought the same then when I looked at the replays I realized i'm all over the place and times where I thought I was on the line I'd veered off so they were well within their rights to come through and it was me causing the issue as im so twitchy on the steering, hoping that gets better next week when I get my wheel :triumphant:

Well they certainly don't think about their spacial awareness.....

Not trying to make a "scene", but thats kinda strange answer from a head of studio??? For me whos not a top racer, the cheating from AI makes career pretty annoying to play seeing they have twice my acc and is "allowed" to send me off even though I was first into corner. Not to mention the skill AI have in rain.... or how they can drive on the grass faster than I on road, in addition to that there has been lots of question about this, and the answers are not remotely answering the questions, rather makes fun of buyers that suggests this. Have you maybe been a politician before getting the position as head of studio?

Ok you have a point there. Pretty good example. I have wondered if turning up the opponent skill helps this at all? (I am not trolling by any means here.) I am playing on 80% and I have noticed the AI being less than courteous when re-entering the track in these situations.

This! I've seen a few YouTube videos where quite average drivers on Project Cars are complaining about the AI knocking them off, when in fact they are dive-bombing the AI, veering across the road etc. I've done the same, blaming the AI till I view the replay and see it was actually me at fault much of the time. Watch a really good Project Cars driver on YouTube (e.g. Yorkie) against AI, who is paying real attention to where they are in his mirrors (and even judging where they are when they go into the blindspots) and treats them like human opponents, and the AI on Project Cars is most of the time absolutely superb.

BTW, enjoy your wheel. You will love it! :)

There's a known bug with the over-excitable rolling Escort! ;) Not got the link but it's on the forum and due to be fixed.
