Mostly pure engine sounds.

If I want some music, then it is something like Metallica, Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin, def leppard, Dragonforce or Blind Guardian

I'll listen to pretty much anything. Lately it has been a lot of Attack Attack!, Ill Bill, Dinka, August Burns Red, and various trance mixes on youtube.

No music while racing.

If on road trip then I'm really into Irish artists - The Cranberries, U2, Damien Rice, Glen Hansard, Enya, Snow Patrol... I don't know why. They just all happen to be Irish :/

I detect Irish blood.
I'm a tad partial to The Chieftains but not while racing, while very drunk.

No music for me while racing, either. Although, it might help my focus some, so I might give it a go.

Anyway, road music (lately, anyway):

Jane's Addiction
Amplifier
Tame Impala
Melody's Echo Chamber
Soundgarden
Opeth
Wolfmother
Nirvana
Alice In Chains
Yes
Steven Wilson (also Porcupine Tree)
Seven Impale

It depends on my mood really tbh. Myself and my friend "Panzer" actually race online whilst listening to music..but we tend to miss our braking markers and crash more than usual. We can't judge the engine braking cos we tend not to be able to hear it.. I wonder why? :hopelessness:

GT2 introduced me to Super Bon Bon by Soul Coughing and it's my go to if I'm taking a RUF on a tight street course. Other than that, it kinda depends on my mood. If I just want to drive; Explosions In The Sky, Blackmill, Patrick O'Hearn, Craig Armstrong, etc. If I'm in an attack mood; Avenged Sevenfold, Alexisonfire, or old school Linkin Park.

No music during racing, for driving I prefer hard rock, stoner rock, and classic heavy metal. Fuzzy and thick stoner riffs and pounding, slowly rolling rhythm makes a relaxed drive:

Listen to this track and you'll believe you drive a '68 Camaro in Arizona (instead the Fiesta/Corolla/Astra you're actually drive :)

Music while driving? how dare you suggest such a thing! :p

I won't listen to anything but the engine while on any game, but in real life as my van doesn't have a beautiful sounding engine AC/DC is good option :D

The Doors, Hendrix and Joy Division are all really cool bands but I'm a bit worried about listening to Joy Division at speed. Joy Division might slow my reactions down a bit..which might be tad "problematic".

These seem vaguely appropriate also I feel..

It has to be played loud enough so that I cannot hear my own screams above the melody of the music though..otherwise no point.

Title says it all really, I know some will say why have music the cars sound great, if you are one of those then perhaps a tune that gets you fired up and ready to race..

Bonus points to any song that actually mentions racing etc!

I am going to open up with two

Gilrschool cover of race with the devil (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8eb4zw5gfg)

and Saxon Warriors of the Road (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yCRIrsbZashttp://) which is actuallly a tribute to Senna

All my choices are too weird and about space..lol..being a fan of psychedelic rock music and a Hawkwind fan. So none of my suggestions would even get close. No way. Hippy-chicks not allowed..

If in the future SMS do "Project SPACE" here is one of my suggestions though..

I've found it harder to concentrate listening to music while using a wheel compared to a pad. I think I've gotten more used to both going at the same time but game sounds definitely have to be higher than the guitars lol. Hard rock heavy metal thrash and classic rock will get me through a race.
