View Full Version : Telemetry bugged?

I'm not sure if this is a bug, but it seems completely nonsensical. I'm referring to the little white/red indicator that appears over the suspension scale next to each wheel in the telemetry HUD.

This is a clip from the Xbox version at Brands Hatch in a Formula C car using the standard tune:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwZcDe4SB9Y

At 2 seconds I get a couples of white boxes on the left front, but as you can see I have plenty of travel and ride height available on all four wheels. I checked every frame of the clip around all of these screenshots btw:

At 6 seconds I get a red box on the left front but again plenty of travel and RH left all around. This could possibly be indicating a grounding of the car as I drive over the apex:

At 8 seconds I do run out of both spring travel and ride height on the left front, and out of travel in the left rear, yet no indicator appears:

Another red box for seemingly no reason:

And again I run out of travel and RH yet nothing happens:

Also - the indicator only ever appeared on the left front, never on any other wheel. I thought that was just a symptom of driving left-hand drive cars but obviously that's not the cause here. I'm 100% stumped as to what that thing is supposed to be telling us.

Could mean you're hitting the bump stops. Not sure, will get someone to review. Goood report, thanks for posting

I've see this all the time. Even on the straights (depending on the car and track). But, it's almost the Front Left no matter what spring rate/ride height I try.

[edited because I don't know my Left from my Right -- duh!]

Yeah it should indicate that you're hitting the bump stops, but that does look a bit odd.

Thanks for bringing it to the higher-up's attention:)

I thought it must be bumpstop related but as you can see in the screenshots I run out of travel a few times and nothing appears. And sometimes it appears when I have lots of travel. I also own the PC version of the game so I will see if the "issue" is the same on that.

EDIT: Just tried it on the PC version and it's the same.

I have this problem too, front left always

Yep I see this on the PC version all the time. I tried for 2 hours to see if I could stop the red with different spring, bump, sway bar, etc.
Nothing makes the indication stop showing red on the LF.

I finally just gave up trying at this point.
Nothing I did would stop it from turning red.

Its NOT a bug, or a puppet lol
Check out my R18 leveling thread for the answers. Your looking at the bumpstop touching mode, hit a bump and the stop will compress, some cars are more sensitive than others, sometimes it depends on the damping and how the spring rise their rates and the amout of travel your running. Hope it helps someone, thanks.

Mate, we know all this. Read the thread before you post. The indicator only ever appears to show up on the front left, and it appears to have NO correlation whatsoever to ride height or suspension travel.

totally agree, front left no matter what, sorry to bring this back up.

Yup I feel this may be a bit of a bug to hit the stops so easily. Also if you notice that car itself doesn't 'feel' like it hits the stops when this red marker flashes up.

would it be a bug on left front going red or a bug of the other three not registering?

I have this bug with every car on every track no matter how the car is setup. Sometimes the front left indicates it is bottomed out and I am just leaving the pits in 1st gear on a flat tarmac. I'm not sure if it is effecting my car other than the fact that my front left tire is always hotter than the other 3 but clockwise tracks will always cause this to happen.

I forgot to add that I have started running zero mm bump stop on all cars. If it is bottoming out on full ride height there is nothing more I can do but It couldn't possibly be bottoming out on every car. I have just been ignoring it and if the tune feels good, I feel good. Project Cars is non stop fun driving.

I think it's just a graphical bug guys, as it does not effect the ride.

Just confirming that this is still a bug in 3.0 (although the telemetry HUD in general is MUCH better).
