View Full Version : [It didn't] Patch ruined the game!

Oh yes the Stick movement fix is sublime, now though, there is such a reduction in detail that I'm shelving it along with Forza.

My guess is it was to improve frame rates. Here's a few things I noticed:

The blue bridge at Sakitto has no detail.

The race marshal huts at Brno have no detail.

Car interiors have less detail and or lighting effects.

Car exteriors have less sun iridescence effects.

Frame rates have settled down to a more reliable steady rate but now not as close to 60fps as before, but V-sinc is still clearly off as I still see frame taring.

IT IS A RUDDY MESS!!!!

I feel better now after that rant. I think it's time to build a kick ass PC and play the all singing all dancing version of the game and or Assetto Corsa. I'm off the look at porn now! When I say porn I mean YouTube clips of guys playing Assetto Corsa on three screens, FFFWWAAAAR

No changes were made to graphics so far as anyone is aware. If you had missing textures or other graphical issues it was a bug.

Patch 1.4 will have a 5-7% performance increase for Xbox One next week on Fri. Do your homework before making a pointless thread. Ian Bell himself said performance increase is in patch 1.4, not patch 1.3.

I know what I saw and I saw a major change graphically.

I should say that it ruined the game for "me". Maybe I should have said that from word go. It may have something to do with being a photographer and videographer and having a good attention to detail. After all though it is still the best driving sim on a console.

Project CARS is a racing game, maybe you should try Horizon 2 instead, in that game you can drive around and look at the scenery and take photos.

1.4 is not even ready. When it does get ready it will go to Namco (2 or 3 day certification process) then MS (several days process). I don't see this patch coming out in the next couple of weeks...

Thats exactly what i'm trying to say.

It was their intention to release patch 1.4 before DLC (5th june)
but it's not approved yet, maybe not finished yet (not confirmed anywhere)

So we'll get the DLC first next friday, unless they postpone it, along with the community event that needs the DLC

I thought my steering wheel had stopped working after installing the patch, but went into control options and found the steering deadzone was at 15%! I moved it back to zero and increased the sensitivity and it now works again.

However I seem to have more framerate issues now. Driving round Azure Circuit (Monaco) it stutters whereas before the update I didn't notice any problems.

I still would like to be able to increase the steering lock to get a Formula A car round the hairpin in Monaco without hitting the barrier most times. Watching the race at the weekend, the real cars have plenty of clearance.

We may get DLC on the 5th, but this is not related to the 1.4 patch. Yes, it is been confirmed by a senior engineer that they are working on the patch and that it's not been finalised yet. You will find his post in the official patch thread...

Hence I said APPARENTLY. Please learn to read rather than give, rude, hostile and insulting replies when all over the forum, MANY people have been saying there is a patch out on June 5th which is next Friday.

"There are 2 patches coming. Patch 1.3 on May 29th, this Friday. Next week on Friday is Patch 1.4. Both patches have to be released in time for the June DLC (June 5th?). Free car & a DLC car pack. From controller fixes to 5-7% performance increase, to the sound bug, to crashes in multiplayer, etc. A lot will be fixed.

Ian Bell has said after the patch 1.4, the Xbox One version will basically be on par with PS4 version."

"You're gonna be disappointed until patch 1.4 on the 5th of June."

"Let's clear this up before the questions get asked.

Patch 1.3 DOES NOT include any performance tweaks/optimisations. This patch should arrive next week to address controller issues.

Patch 1.4 DOES include the performance gain mentioned by Ian Bell and other developers, this patch is due to arrive around the same time as the Racing Legends DLC, which is due for release on or around the 5th June 2015."

"Either way the sound stuttering bug and the sound vanishing bugs will be fully cleared up in version 1.4 which will be out around the 5th June."

"OMG, if people would just read. Patch 1.4 will have 5-7% performance increase of game engine. Among other things. That will be on next week, June 5th"

See quotes above from a multitude of people across many different threads.

Where is all of this information coming from? It's all over the forum that APPARENTLY there is a patch coming out on the 5th of June.

And just for you Bealdor as you seem to not understand what apparently means:

This is a fact, seeying I'm still stuck at the same race for 5 days now because it is in a thunderstorm (undrivable in GT3) I can compare it easy before the patch and now.
And the framerate is worse, also does the screen get stuck for 4 seconds or so.. So it is definitly worse. I didn't have this issues once before the patch on that particular race.

A little off topic from the original OP so apologies but Alanmax, you can adjust the settings on the car to easily get round the hairpin in Monaco. I raced there on Monday in Formula A and what helped me was changing the steering rack ratio under the car tuning settings. I can't remember whether it was faster or slower that turned the wheels quicker but that helped (it tells you in the info), but also increase the aero to max for Monaco too.

I also made other adjustments around gear ratio's and suspension but just the above two things should help massively. I was getting around that corner without any issues. It's a great feeling when you hook up a great lap in Monaco in Formula A, love it. Good luck!

Yes, I agree you said "apparently", but the user quotes you posted didn't.
Most people will simply overread that word and will then be disappointed if there is no patch on June 5th. Then they'll start to argue and maybe (falsely) blame SMS for lying, the discussion gets ugly and threads will get closed. At the end of the day it will help nobody and this is all I want to prevent.

Why are you arguing so agressive? There's no need for that. I'm not rude to you and I don't have a problem with you.

The patch has worked wonderfully for me and my crew. I'm a long time Forza user, (even co-authored the Prima Games Forza 3 guide by Microsoft), and I have to say SMS has done an excellent job all things considered. PCARS has the right ingredients and flavor to get a good taste of the racing culture and its dramatic ups and downs.

It's been the refreshing experience with a return to racing, that has re-energized sim-racers I know who originally came to this genre of gaming because of competitive sim-racing. This simulation is a real watershed moment for console users, and offers great potential going forward. Over at www.IFCAracing.com we will be conducting league racing with PCARS, and a computer world ratings/rankings leader board.

My guess is that others will soon follow SMS's lead, and begin to develop or add more and more racing features to their simulations rather than just making car show games. It's about time.

So is this true or not, has game detail been taking out of the game or not ?

I should have said so will you be making changes, as the original poster has noticed reduced detail, alot of gaming companys do this to get better fps, its the only way it can be done really, myself i have not noticed any difference but i aint been looking, but if future patches will include this, thats not good news.

Thanks for your suggestions, but having tried adjusting the steering ratio all the way from one end to the other I still can't get round the hairpin every time, more like 20 percent of the time. although the adjustment alters the sensitivity of the steering it doesn't seem to change the angle of the front wheels on full lock. I'm starting from the far right at the entrance to the corner, clipping the apex on full lock, and touching the Armco on the exit. Changing the steering sensitivity in the control options doesn't help either, nor does altering the settings on my wheel (Thrustmaster TX). If anyone has any settings that work I would be grateful.

Yea I think they reset the sensitivity higher for the people who weren't expecting the extra stick movement in the hope it would make the transition smoother. I too set it back straight away.

If you want to increase the lock on the your steering you can adjust the steering rack ratio. Make it faster. It's just above Castor.

Project CARS is a racing game, maybe you should try Horizon 2 instead, in that game you can drive around and look at the scenery and take photos.

I love the racing too, I just want my cake and eat it. I want mega real visuals and physics.

i don't think they will lowering the Graphics for Performance Plus...

IF something will Change then perhaps LOD Distance or something like that.

And i can't see the changes which the OP sais...

Yea they even said they where gona change pop up of some things on um what was it Cadwell I think. But just off the top of my head one of many could be the mip-map distance for the open wheel tyre surface texture, I definitely saw some improvement there.

I know, I know, I know it was all done to improve the game, but after trying it again today it still seems to me that after reducing some detail to improve frame rate, they've just now increased frame taring and boy do I HATE frame taring.

Have fun you wont be missed, but you will miss out on a great game that they are fixing everyday. Now you can go play COD where there is no skill lmao

I never said I was leaving I said I was going to change to the PC version.

Lord give me strength.

Seriously Mr. Bell, reading some of your posts is almost as fun as racing in the game!

Wow I joined formula c and with the patch the game is like a new game. Plays awesome but I need to get used to finally playing without any driving assistance. It feels slightly awesome! Thank you all developers for providing this patch. The game is now worth every damn euro I spent for it! Thank you!!

OK so maybe they didn't ruin it. Today I had an awesome clio race at Spa.

So I am moving platform, but not because the game is ruined but because the game is brill and It's motivated me to spend some time and money to play it on the PC. May even treat myself to an Rseat and Fanatec wheel, Lovely!
