Joining the whisky club after a few beers too; nothing beats a few cold beers after a hard day of development (and pitching the game to the big boys) and then moving onto some warming whisky as the summer here in Finland is quite there yet :)

As for questions, favorite beer and/or whisky, Ian?

For beer I'm going with the home advantage. Guinness it is. But only one or two else your stomach complains.

Ooh, Guiness has to be my favorite as well, sucks that it costs 7€ a pint at the only place you can get in on tap here, but it's definitely my favorite. Kilkenny is pretty good as well, though. The 10yr Macallan I've tasted it 's pretty good, but I'd say Laphroaig and QC in particular is one of my favorites for the bleak fall in Finland.

3 Sam Adams, 1 Dos Equis, 1 Bud light (piss water), and a fireball shot in. We've got a few more bars to go to. I'll try to get on pcars later and see if I improve lap times.

I'll just edit this post. I'm pretty drunk right now, after way too much drinking. I'll probably be embarrassed by this tomorrow, but oh well. I managed a 2:01.178 on Nurburgring GP in an a R8 LMS Ultra. I am absolutely plastered and I am impressed with that time. I wouldn't dare drive a car in real life right now. But meh it was an alright time. I could barely keep the car in a straight line down the straights. I think I had the braking zones right, but probably not.

I was going to ask if Ian could also pour Andy a few glasses, as Andy seems best at spilling the beans after a when lubricated with alcohol (I have rewritten that sentence several times and it still sounds like a Julian Clary line)

I was never much into Guinness till I moved to Belfast 3 years ago but now it's all I drink when I go out. Amazing!!!

Tried it once, first impression was it tasted like water mixed with soil. Should try it again, see if it grows on me :)

I'm a 25 year old Macallan man.

Excellent choice. Unfortunately that particular bottle (the big one not the 3cl sample) is kind of.. unavailable... AHEM.

But Macallan is one of the Highlands (lets not argue about the highlands/speyside theme here) top class brands for a reason :)

I usually end up on Balvenie when it is ME buying something more "expensive".

Speyside single malt FTW :D

PS: Speyside - the brand not the region - is something really unique to

Am I the only one who saw the pun? soil... grow

mister dog
02-06-2015, 21:58
So i made good on my promise and opened up a can of Guinness this evening (they didn't have bottles).

First thing i noticed is that they put something in the can so it rattles like a graffiti can (let's hope it's no production error in the factory or else i don't know what i've been drinking tonight). The soil reference was wrong, maybe they didn't wash the glasses properly last time i tried it, but what struck me is that there is absolutely no gas in it. Us Belgians are used to a little sparkle in our pints so to us it tastes like its the end of the barrel (when they need to change it for a new one). Taste wise it was a bit sour.

Goes to show beer culture differs a lot sometimes. I am still going to finish it and it was nice to try it again, but Guinness is not for me :)
