I use a T500rs wheel and PS4 and race most of my time online. My problem is there are only 2 USB connections on the front of the PS4 and I need 3 to run my headset, wheel and Shifter. I really want to be able to use the shifter online but at the moment I'm unable. I have used a 'standard' USB hub before but it either effects the wheel ( it doesn't work properly) or the headset doesn't work and others cannot hear me. I wonder if using a powered hub will allow me to use all 3 devices together without problems? If anyone uses a USB hub successfully with the wheel, shifter, and headset which one do you use? Thanks for any advice.

I was using a Logitech powered USB hub in combination with my T100 on my PS3 at the time. It introduced lag that hindered my racing.

This one is very good:

I switch it between PS3 and PS4.
It powers my TH8A, a USB backup stick and a BT transmitter for my Pulse headset. The remaining connection is for charging the headset and the controller.
Never had issues with it.

I've been using a 'Plus Com' one for years now without any problems at all.

Last Night, I just picked up a 4 port Insignia USB 3.0 Powered HUB. NC-PCH5431 $39.99
Doesn't work with the PS4.

Ever since I hooked it up,
The PS4 drops USB connection to everything once every 5 minutes..

Even to the Port where the HUB isn't plugged in..

At First I connect the Wheel, Shifter, and Head set to the HUB, and was ONLY using the HUB in Port 1
everything kept Disconnecting.

So then I moved the Hub to the 2nd port, and plugged my Wheel back into Port 1

Same thing, every 5 minutes, the USB ports loose connection.
Wheel, Shifter, and Headset.. all disconnect..

So I removed the HUB, and No More disconnects.

Not all Hubs are the same.. Don't get This one... Insignia NC-PCH5431 $39.99

Thrustmaster say to never plug you wheel using a powered USB, only non-powered ones...
and if possible, not use extension cables

Using a controller connected through a HUB is not recommended AFAIK.

LOL... I have always used an extension and a powered USB Hub.... go figure.

Oh, I entirely believe you! Just quoting what is on TM manuals :)

Yeah but it's common that it's recommended for most wheels.

My T500RS is connected to USB port 1 on the PS4.
The powered USB3 hub is in port 2.
Same with the PS3.

Thanks for the replies so far guys. I was thinking to have the t500 plugged into port one and the powered hub into port two and then on the hub I'd have the headset and the tH8 shifter. Has anyone used the official ps4 ones that look like the front of the ps4? I take it these aren't powered?

I am using one of these none powered hubs. Cheapish from ebay. Around the 6-8 pound mark. Working fine with my wheel (t300) and sony headset 2.0 (weird little usb dongle). Bought it as i wasnt sure about the th8a needing a usb slot or not, which it didnt, but still able to charge a controller and the headset now without having to yank the wheel or the headset dongle every time.

Thrustmaster say to never plug you wheel using a powered USB, only non-powered ones...
and if possible, not use extension cables

So with a Wheel USB, a TH8RS Shifter USB, Pedals and Adapter USB, Head Set USB, and Video Camera USB
5 USB items, but Only TWO USB ports..

how do you plug it all in, when Everyone of them Say NOT to use a HUB or Extension?

And the USB Specification is that Every device, on the USB Bus, is treated the Same.
So per the specification, a device on the HUB should be the same as a Device plugged in to the port.
it's a packet based Digital communication Protocol. packets are sent and received to and from the Device.
Doesn't matter where on the USB line it is.
USB 2.0 is 4 wires..
2 Wires for Device 5.0v power
and 2 Wires for Data Flow.

USB 3.0 uses 8 wires ( ok 10, there is a 2nd Gnd or drain and an overall Shell)
The Same 2 for Power
The Same 2 for Backward 2.0 Data
And (2) new Super Speed Data Channels Tx+, Tx- and Rx+, Rx- each using 2 twisted pair wires.

Now the PS4 is supposed to use a special type of handshake on the USB bus.
So maybe that is why Every so many minutes, I'd get disconnected..
The hub Might have blocked this Special Handshake.
( maybe it's sent over the power lines as a sub carrier? )
(humm, might explain why the Powered Hub didn't work. this Hub Blocks the Power Lines from the Host, and uses it's Own Powered lines, there is no Electrical Connection between them )

I'll have to experiment by using a DS4 this time..
Maybe the DS4 will provide the handshake, to keep the Connection Active.

I have my CSR Elite pedals, CSS SQ Shifter and me T500 all plugged into the USB Hub and never any problems, out of curiosity what is the reason they say not to :?

I have the PS4 camera and it's connected to the console by the AUX connection on the backside.:)

i wasnt sure about the th8a needing a usb slot or not, which it didnt
Depends on the wheel you are using.
I'm on T500RS and the TH8A does need a usb slot...
If you have the T300 f.e. the shifter can be connected to the wheel by means of the DIN connection.
