So with Oculus Rift finally hitting the shelves in Q1 2016, I would like to find out about Oculus VR support on XB1/PS4.
Will it work on consoles? or is it to be a pc only vdu?

I read they're making an anouncement at e3, but other than release date thats all I know.

Ive seen some Oculus/Project CARS vids on youtube and I almost lost control of the ol' man gravy, visually stunning and more immersive than i could possibly imagine.

So far it has been I tended for PC only as MS and Sony have their own ambitions in this direction I think it will stay PC only.

It would be nice, but I wonder if the current consoles might lack the grunt to push out the necessary resolution and framerate (I think oculus needs about 75fps to be tolerable)

Fingers crossed then i guess lol

Has anyone got any info, yt links ect on msofts device?

No news on a MS VR device - they've instead been showing off Hololens which is more an AR device.

By chance have you also seen the HTC Vive device for PC? At first I dismissed it but it also seemed like a very good option (+ it's not owned by Facebook, haha)

Augmented Reality (i.e. placing graphics between you and your uvision of real life). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qym11JnFQBM

VR completely blocks out and replaces real life.

You guys talking about porn goggles? The future of these goggles was foretold in an 80's VR movie called brainstorm. These will be porn content only. We can't even get good PC ports to console or vice versa. Cracks me up when people think these will do anything but porn for the next decade.

I keep seeing that but personally anything over 30 and i can't tell the difference. I think its a personal thing, and maybe psychosomatic as well:)

The refresh rate is probably easier to notice an inch from your face? I see it all the time on big screens at distance.

If you move your head then your brain needs to see the scene move quickly and smoothly, any sensor lag or anything less than 75fps and 99% of people get nausea in less 5 minutes.

So I've heard, therefore I must be in the very lucky 1%, I have zero issues with mine. Felt a bit odd the first few times I used it but not at all now. Framerate in the low 30s then it starts looing a little jerky when I move my head, but to be honest, while racing, I don't move my head that much, more my eyes.

You clearly haven't used them. Maybe spend a bit more time researching rather than searching for gifs. They wil take over the entertainment industry within the next decade. Until you've experienced it you are in no position to comment, and I can tell you haven't from your odd statement. I love some decent porn, haven't even bothered to look for 3D porn in the 2 months of rift ownership, spending too much time playing Project cars and others.

Hardly anyone has touched them. Period. Doesn't mean I have not heard people rave about the concept. Or about one of the manufacturers being down with porn. Does it work like a standard peripheral? Can I use it with call of duty? Or gt5?
Who's developing what for what for it? Do you think it will play every other game including project cars. It might end up being a PC thing in the distant future. Just don't see it on consoles or any proprietary platform. It's going to be its own development thing with a very different to integrate construct. IMO. All anyone has seen is demos as far as I know. There is no working title per say even developed for them yet. Just concepts. I'm sure it feels pretty cool to play Jenga on it or some other type of slow paced RPGs or something. But it's just not gonna do real frantic paced gaming without people puking for a long time. Probably get to neural implants before people figure out how to code what has to be a very complex algorithm, and likely individual for different people as to how much motion will induce sickness for them.
I just think there gonna be a laid back tour kind of thing. Which is all they are demoing. Nothing is going to be coming at you fast in VR this decade. I'd bet money that they just end up being porn goggles after the hype dies down and no serious games are ever developed for it.
Porn and facebook games? Yes. It will do that.

I watched a few vids of it. Saw alien isolation demo'd to teens on teens react or whatever. Can't help but notice, the longer people play, the more they limit their head movement and just sit still and burn their eyes out. Good luck with that. Saw plenty of disoriented players when they chose to move head to look at things. Then they learn just not to move as much, and rely on controller more. Meh. Seems like a gimmick that could destroy your vision and give you headaches if you use it too much.
I watched the video of some guy playing mirrors edge too. He gets 20 minutes in before he gets sick and has to stop. Noticeably when the action is frantic and their was a lot of head movement. Says it makes games harder. Harder is not a recipe for success. Not with real games and real action.

Alien isolation and mirrors edge are not made for vr someone has mod them to work on it so they are not the best example, just like you were saying games like call of duty are not built for vr which is right. So yeah games will have to be built from the ground up for people to get the best experience. And yeah they will need to come up with a new way to move in first person view because it can make some people motion sick with how we currently move with analog sticks on a flat screen.

Also games like project cars or any game where you use a cockpit are more comfortable in vr for some reason, i think its because it gives u a frame of reference.

I have heard that the lenses they use for vr are better for your eyes then staring at a monitor aswell.

We will just have to wait and see but i can tell you that it is amazing and i strongly believe it will be the next big thing and not a gimmick. Maybe not the first generation but it will take off eventually when the resolution improves etc.

;) ;)
Ya. It's cause of the reduced movement. In a car you look straight ahead. Racing is as good a fit for it as you will find. No player movement except blind spot. Perfect for VR really.

We shall see, but I promise the porn content and usage will be HUGE and drive more sales than any games might. This first generation for sure.

For the record. Current ground up builds look pretty crappy. One I saw involved watching TV sitting on the couch. No joke. The game is sit on you couch, watch TV while checking the surrounding windows for monsters walking up, kinda like 5 nights at Freddie's. That's where the technology is at now. Slow tours.

Hahaha, lol, checkout some of the ones on here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_games_with_Oculus_Rift_support). But seriously, there are some pretty good games available via third party drivers. Have a look here (https://www.vorpx.com/supported-games/).
