View Full Version : AI issue in azure circuit

For formula A and formula B with AI difficulty set to 100% when a AI car doesn't have any others in front of her this car hits systematically and hardly the wall in the last corner of the circuit. The AI cars don't respect the guiding(right) line(see attached screenshots).
Consequently, the AI cars lose a lot of time.
But the worst is that after a while their cars are damaged and they must make a stop.
There are other car models like "ariel atom 500V8" concerned with this problem and generally the fatest cars.
This phenomenom is present during qualification and race in a weekend quick race with a clear weather.

For information i play on PC.

They shouldn't be sticking to the guide line like its a rail anyway, and what's to say its the air making a mistake in that corner which does happen at Monaco?

More instances would help identify the problem.

I fully agree that they should not be sticking the guide line but here it is like they want to take the pit line. And unfortunately due to the speed(AI to 100%), the crash can't be avoid.
In addition, it is interesting to see that the best lap time is obtained by a car which is just behind another because in that case the car is closest of the guide line and doesn't hit the guard rail.

Another instance on video with AI difficulty set to 90% for a Formula B race of 21 cars (30 laps).
I abandoned voluntarily from the start to observe the behavior of AI cars.
It is the first race lap and the "orange/black" AI car is forced to stop only after 3 laps.


I asked myself if this problem occurred only when i was spectator of the race but apparently not. In the screenshot below i am behind the lead car that has just hit the guard rail(Formula B witg AI 100%).

There's a completely new Azure circuit AI on the way soon. Stay tuned. I guarentee you one thing. 90% AI will be hard to keep up with in the new version ;)

After investigation and several tests, I think it is not possible to play with enough challenge against AI cars for the azure circuit (Monaco circuit). The behavior of the cars driven by AI in "Project cars" which for me is one of the best is not suitable for this kind of circuit. Indeed, i understand that the strength of AI is to simulate as much as possible human behavior. And for this purpose the AI cars don't respect the ideal line like a "normal human".
But for this kind of circuit it is important to follow this line as much as possible or wasting time or worse to cause an accident. This explains why in Formula 1 it is very difficult for professional drivers to overtake in Monaco.
The same problem would arise in the Singapore Grand Prix.
A solution if possible would be to adjust the AI cars behavior depending on the nature of the circuit but I'm not a programmer. I'd like to know the developers' opinion on this subject.
Here are more screenshots illustrating my remarks with other car models showing the lead car out of race in the first lap (AI at 100%).
