Im fairly sure i got a nice concise reply from Ian when i asked if any of the console stuff would delay the pc patch.

To paraphrase it more simply it was "no" :) so things habe changed? Or i didn't ask the question in the right way, lol.

It's still no :)

The patches are going out at different times.

Well I just saw on a RSS feed that it's available to download elsewhere. Unless it was leaked to the group that released it.

There's apparently a pirate 1.4 patch out with DLC for PC, but given that 1.4 hasn't been released the chances are high that it's a virus/trojan instead :).

EDIT : For PC users, if it's not on Steam then it isn't legit and you only have yourself to blame if you get infected. Just wait for the patch to hit Steam :).

The Pirates don't have Access to the Patch :) They only will make Peoples think they have it.

I assume it's a nice Trojaner or Virus in such a pirated (not even Released) 1.4 Patch...

MysterG
10-06-2015, 08:18
Indeed. If we started a 'fake' patch 2.7 thread, and enough people joined in asking/requesting/demanding it ... one would probably appear somewhere on the net ;)

Bealdor
10-06-2015, 08:40
Why would pirates want to put a fake patch full of trojans for download and ruin their reputation? It doesn't make any sense.

Maybe someone is abusing the "poor pirate's" reputation? Is it so unlikely that anyone thought "Well why not name my next trojan 'Project CARS Update 1.4-RELOADED'"?

Because we're reacting directly to customer requests and issues. We therefore need to collate them and fix them as they come in.

i am not a torrent specialist but as this patch signed reloaded is available on very reliable private sites, i would bet it is real and there was a leak somewhere. No leechers seems to complain at the moment btw.
Just a guess, i have the original installed on all my pc and dont feel like testing the craked version ;)

Well, nothing important, it just means we will have our patch soon now :)

It's the DLC (Iconic Pack) ...they named it "1.4 patch", because they believed the patch was contained in the DLC (while it is not).
The crack of the DLC was expected (everything which hits Steam nowadays is cracked soon after unfortunately).
It's a shame tho: we placed the DLC at a honest (cheap) price, there's no honor today... neither for a pirate. :)

CDPR are better at their work, they work harder i guess :)

If every patch fixes differt issues, they work good.
If every patch fixes issues of the older patches, they are under pressure and have a weak QA.

i prefer having big, well testet patches.

Hi Ian, first i would thank you and your team for this great game. I'm sure you will fix the few bugs that the game have at the time. I just can't wait for the release of the patch because of comming full support of my fanatec 911 turbo s wheel.
i hope you and your team will support this game for a long time because i do not need a Project Cars 2 (take the time you guys need to release a perfect game) in one or two years if the support of PC 1 is good, yesterday i bought the new car pack, thank you for the bentley gt3! It would be nice to get more desings for this car, i love it! I have no problem to support you if you guys do a good job, and maybe i am a fanboy? but i think you do a great job!
Sorry for my bad grammar, greetings from Germany.
And please, release the patch fast ^^ i need my wheel working perfectly😁

Just want to say a big thanks for making a great game and eagerly awaiting for the update so I can finally put this game through its paces.
Fanatec Deadzone has been killing me but everything else in the game is truly amazing.
Love how I can turn the Hud off and still find everything I need in a motec dash display.
That feature has ruined all my old games which are now in the bin.

Looking forward to seeing this game develop over the coming months/years

I know it mentioned updates for controllers does this include fixes for the T500? I played for 2hrs last night online and only completed 2 six lap races without wheel issues so it would be really great if this was addressed in the patch.

Sorry for quoting myself but I've asked and seen this question being asked and ignored in a number of threads. The wheel issues with my t500 are getting worse so I would really appreciate an answer to this question as Thrustmaster and the t500 is not specifically mentioned in the patch details unlike Fanatec. Thanks in anticipation of some clarification.

The specific issues are:-

FFb suddenly not working - unplugging wheel resolves
Wheel going crazy after a race and at the start of a race - unplugging wheel resolves
FFB suddenly stops working in one direction only - unplugging wheel resolves

Obviously there are work arounds but as mentioned its getting silly having to do this and restart races.

I'm not gonna lie. I got majorly frustrated playing this game yesterday. Running the lotus class of 86 champs in a car that's very setup dependent (or else massive turbo lag and/or spin crash into wall). So everytime to try to make adjustments only to have all my adjustments reset - JFC! Then I realize while I can abandon a season (which I have accidentally) I cant abandon a series. So I was forced to enter and quit each race because I just could not drive the car in its default setting. I had to count ten. I logged off really upset.

But then..... I came back later that night and resumed my GT4 contract in the Aston. Enter Sakitto circuit - dear god what a great track. Just like that all was forgiven and I was all smiles again. There are a few tracks in the game I've been introduced to by SMS but this one is by far my fave so far. What a track.

So there are 2 things Im really looking forward to in 1.4: settings staying put and AI in the rain. cant wait.

Sorry, what I actually meant was, will this fix reduce the ghosting on all your PREVIOUS screenshots that you've got, or will it only reduce ghosting on any you take after the patch?

madmax2069

Sorry, what I actually meant was, will this fix reduce the ghosting on all your PREVIOUS screenshots that you've got, or will it only reduce ghosting on any you take after the patch?

said screen shots that have already been taken and stored by the system itself and will not change, because it doesn't use the games engine to take said screen shots. But it will reduce the ghosting in any new pictures and video after the patch that the system saves.

Now if you save a replay using the in game save replay feature (not the share button) it will reduce the ghosting you see in that because it uses the games engine to replay said saved replays.

The share button and trophy screen shot uses the PS4 system itself and doesnt rely on the game engine to view or play back

The G29 drivers will not be very different from those required for dfgt or G25/27 so if they do not support them it's because they don't want to.

Ian already answered probably why, ours is taking longer than "Witchers". I don't want to have to search. Basically he said, Our patch addressed problems that were brought up by the community and quickly fixed, then sent for approval. Wichers was probably its regular roll out of fixes of problems on a long existing list.

why so cryptic... i'm dieing to buy a playseat but will only buy it if my G27 will work... otherwise that's going up for sale and i will buy another wheel... .. could SMS just give us a yes or no please... especially as the cat is out of the bag on the G29... please?

Ian's confirmed that pCARS will continue to be patched and improved beyond 1.4, so why not get a bunch of patch slots pre-booked now, say one every fortnight until November..? :)

'Beyond' 1.4? There isn't even a 1.4 to go beyond!

Cats out of bags does not release people from NDAs.

fair enough... i take it the NDA relates to informing users that G27 is compatible... Logitech want to build up the demand for the G29 so SMS are not allowed to say hey everyone G27 now works? :)

SMS aren't restricted here either way - it's a well known fact though that the G27 doesn't work with current consoles. That's Logitech's decision, nothing to do with SMS. We've no idea if they plan to change that (if they did, we'd do the work in-game to add it), although you can easily draw your own conclusions based on the release of the new wheel.

You could always buy a seperate usb adapter -> http://www.leobodnar.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=188
Cheaper than the new Shifter and you'd have even more buttons as the new shifter doesn't have dpad etc. :-o

Cool man, might use that since I have a G27. But also doubting if I should sell my G27, if I look at the 2nd internet market, they go for 200-250 euro's. That's 50% of a new G29.

appreciate it... however i asked once.. then speculated... so no need to get defensive with me. The fact that the wheel is known to work on other games such as Warthunder for example renders Andy's comment incorrect... Just to add Fanatec wheels are also "not compatible" but the drivers have been released and embedded in to pCARS. He also mentions "SMS aren't restricted here either way" restricted to what exactly the NDA or adding support? seeing as you have no affiliation with SMS and are speculating about what they are or are not bound to on the NDA i'd rather hear it from them...

Does it definitely still work with War Thunder? As far as I know Logitech dropped "legacy" support some time ago (which for us means we simply can't get the wheel to work with their latest SDK).

(I was referring to NDA restrictions, as per the post I quoted.)

It is 100% up to the game developer to add support of a non-licensed wheel.
I am still speculating the G27 will work with the PS4 with the Project Cars 1.4 update.

PS4 War Thunder and G27 Racing Wheel (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOvStB09LUo)
It is 100% not (as in, if the SDK we have to use doesn't support a particular wheel on a particular platform, there's zero we can do about it) :)

It's been a three way blaming game so far, wheel manufacturers vs Sony/MS vs the developers. I always knew it couldn't be the devs as i see no reason why they wouldn't want as many wheels as possible to be compatible with their games.

In any case it's a faul move of Logitech to basically re release the G27 at double the price and without a shifter, instead of doing their existing customers a favor and make their last gen wheels compatible.

Exactly this. It's frustrating to see posts saying or implying that we've decided not to support a particular wheel - there's no logical reason we wouldn't (well, perhaps if the cost of implementation was huge, but that's not the case for any current or past wheel that I'm aware of, or if the ROI doesn't make sense on extremely old wheels with very few users), because it increases the appeal of the game to more people. I have a G27 myself as well and am disappointed we can't support it.

Note though that I'm not casting blame on anybody, just anti-blame on us (!) - we're not privy to the whys and wherefores of these decisions, some may well be for solid reasons we're unaware of.

Suggestion:

Can you update the original post with the current best known ETA?

Maybe just a simple line like

"Here are the release notes for the upcoming Patch 1.4. The patch is pending approval by Sony, at this time we hope to see the patch released around the third week of June. We will update you with a release date as soon as we have the date confirmed by the various external parties."

Currently we have to slog through 900 posts to figure out that info. I know its just an estimate (whatever that estimate is, I can't even find the relevant posts again) but I think it would still be appreciated so long as its made clear its just an estimate and especially that its out of your hands.

So newcomers will find that info right away, and all of us waiting eagerly can just quickly check the first post.

I'm against this, because the truth is we don't know. If a critical issue is found then the whole schedule can be set back by days, even weeks. We're as frustrated as you by the process, but the answer imo isn't to make guess promises only to disappoint.

I would think notes on progress are always appreciated though..? Even something like "The patch is pending approval by Sony, they have not given us a timeline but in the past it has taken a few weeks"

This is what I've seen for a lot of other games, and yes sometimes subsequent updates come out saying "unfortunately the patch has been delayed a few weeks due to issues that came up during testing"

But at least it shows progress and movement to keep people happy.

Personally i can understand that you guys are just as frustrated as we are by not knowing when the patch will hit. I rather have a good patch worth waiting for than having a patch now, and seeing the forum getting spammed with unfixed issues.

Please guys SMS/WMD I've asked a number of times and I'm getting nowhere with this. Is there any information you can share please??? My original post is no.812.

Thanks

Edit:- sorry, technically a 1.4 update thread and not a logitech screwed us thread, only just realised. Wouldnt have said so much had i realised. Apologies to all, teach me to check rather than go straight into a reply.....

I dont like logitech anymore. As the manufacturer of my last force feedback wheel for the ps3 I blamed them for my expensive paperweight when it didnt work on ps4. The whole logitech, sony, devs argument has gone on for ages, but in the end, we all decide who to blame when we are the ones who feel genuinely aggrieved and there is no clear indication or proof of who is actually to blame.

BUT...... There is the additional thought process that says its in the interests of none of those interested parties to withhold legacy support from the party without a damned good reason. Personally, I believe that somebody somewhere wants to squeeze more money out of one of the parties. Not the devs, they are at the wrong end of the chain for that. So intheory sony want money to let the legacy wheels work, or its more detailed and its an issue with logitech. But as said earlier, its not in logitechs interests to alienate the legacy crowd. In a market of dedicated racers who have likely come through older platforms and have supported the logitech brand, hamstringing the older wheels will cost them a lot of previously loyal customers. Yes, there is the argument that supporting the older wheels might affect sales of the new one, but would it be as big a hit as losing customers who feel they were burned in their last wheel purchase? Project cars has likely done wonders for wheel sales, but lets not forget there have been games on the ps4 that would have benefitted from a wheel option long before pc came out. So logically, even though logitech were not supporting ps4 or making wheels for it, there was no benefit to them or their name in not finding a way to fix the problem.

To my mind, there is something proprietary in the older wheels that prevented and still prevents that backwards compatibility. Whether its a hardware or software component,I am inclined to believe something in those older wheels is outside the control of logitech. Somewhere out there is a lawyer sat by a dusty phone waiting for the g25/27 to start working on a ps4, and the moment it does he will dust off the 800 page licensing agreement and pick up the phone, at which point logitech will get hit with a bill for a further cut of the money for every single wheel they manufactured.

I read a story years ago about the guy who invented intermittent windscreen wipers. One of the big car giants screwed him, took his idea and used it while trying to squeeze him out altogether. When he finally won his case he got a payout and if memory serves, something like thirty to 50 pence from every car sold that used an intermittent wiper. Whichever big company screwed him ended up paying out a lot a long time after they screwed him.

For anybody who has ever read apples terms and conditions, they will know its a nightmare or restrictions and rules. Any of which are effectively written in stone. I believe logitech have likely signed a similar document somewhere that relates to something in those older wheels. Who knows, maybe it had a non disclosure agreement attached? Either way, with the current announcement of g29 yes and everything else no, its probably time all the g27/g25 owners faced the fact that their old tech has gone the way of the vcr and moved on or gave up hoping for a fix.

All that said, I still blame logitech for my older wheel not working as they took my money and i need a villain to blame. I am now a happy tm customer.

What I don't understand is why you guys couldn't have told us earlier? This is the first piece of info stating one way or the other. Also why did Ian Bell say a few things in a couple of threads that made people think (or presume, myself included) that support was coming? See quote below from earlier in this thread:

http://i.gyazo.com/3710a4624925fcb4f0d0e13dce804db6.png[/QUOTE]

How did he answer his own question? By stating that the NDA had been omitted for now? What did he think was meant by "us poor Logitech users on PS4"?

And also in a thread titled "NO Logitech G27 - Blame Slightly Mad Studios?" he posted:

I hate to play devil's advocate, but keeping existing customers happy is a decent benefit. Those customers are then more likely to upgrade to the next Logitech product rather than switch to a competitor.

(But as I said, I don't know their reasons - it's possible they're technical rather than financial, who knows?)

Exactly, I think sms would like to support every wheel in existence if they could. I think it`s the wheel manufacturers (and console manufacturers?) that hold the support on legacy wheels back. Don`t blame the studio for lacking support of older wheels.

Speaking personally I'm not sure I could - we clearly state which wheels we support, and the absence of the G27 in that list means we don't support it. That's pretty clear, if not the news G27 owners want to hear.

I don't have the time unfortunately to read everything in the forums so wasn't aware there were questions about whether that support would be added in future (and again - the current situation is we can't add it because it's not supported on the platform(s), if that changes, which is probably unlikely but I honestly don't know, we'll most certainly do what's necessary game side to add it).

EDIT - crossposted with Ian, as he says we certainly couldn't say anything about the G29 before it was announced.

Hi Andy & Ian,

I got Project Cars since yesterday, maximum difficulty togheter so it was me and my PS4 controller. And, in the corner of my room is the G27 which I hoped so much for to get supported.
I already love the game, great job, I hope to see with the new Patch ( I don't care when it comes) it becomes even more prettier.

The sound is the best of all, I started Shareplay with some friends and let them hear the BMW Z4 GT3 from the outside, mind-blowing.

@Andy, I'm happy you just said you have a G27 yourself and say it won't get support and that's a sad case, but I understand the situation from your side. It's impossible to support a old pheriphal while Logitech just kicked in the G29 in the market.

I already put my G27 on the 2nd hand online market and will buy the G29 with shifter, it's a expensive (460 euro's) decision, but it's worth the racing in Project Cars, and at this point my financial situation can allow it. I also understand, some of the guys here on the forum can't afford it, and that's a shame. I bought my G27 a couple of years ago with a 40% discount from Logitech itself, if they are still willing to do that, take that opportunity.

Let's say the G29 and shifter will be 460 euro's, and it will be used for over 10 years, that's only 46 euro's a year, still cheaper then a life insurance on monthly base :-).

Keep up the good work, thank you for this game.

The sad part is the G29 is 80% mechanically the same as the G27, same motors just some different buttons (which happen to magically work fine on the old PS3).

I wonder if some brilliant guy will be able get the G27 to work at least to a A- or B+ level now that there is G29 support. This is just unfair to G27 people (me, but i am on PC so immune from these antics)

Or, fortunately PS5 Comes out in 4 years and you'll have to buy the new G31 :)

If you are going to spend almost 500 bucks replacing a wheel that works perfectly and isn't much different from the one you want to buy, please take my advice and spend 200 extra on top of that and buy yourself a gaming PC. You can keep your G27 and won't have to bother with these silly compatibility issues ever again.

But has there been another delay announced since the one Ian informed us about around 2 weeks ago or are we still waiting for that one?

Default FFB on my G27 shows massive clipping on telemetry (could actually feel clipping without needing to look at telemetry). Will lower some settings and report back.

[edit] this is on a new profile save btw.
[edit] Even at 50 tire & 50 'force feedback' telemetry graph is clipping, but now wheel feels light and lifeless.

The Xbox One will work with Oculus Rift but just not in a VR state, you can use it in a "Cinema Mode" they are developing, shame as I would liked to have seen Rift being used to its potential on the console too

This isn't "PC master-race fnar fnar", but I'm really doubting the experience the current consoles could offer in VR. I'm not sure what Sony are planning to do to make Morpheus a viable system, but on PC, running a decent VR experience even on the DK2 requires rendering two sets of scene geometry, to an oversized render target that's not far from 2560x1440 res, and managing to do that at a *minimum* of 75fps to avoid stuttering, which in VR isn't just an annoyance, it totally throws the whole experience. The consumer release ups the res by ~20%-again, and requires 90fps rather than 75.
Expecting that from consoles that both traditionally have great trouble pushing current AAA games at 1080p/60, and often knock it back to either 900p or 30fps... I just don't see them being able to cut the mustard. I'm certainly interested to see how VR pans out in console land though. Ultimately it's going to be a lot of people's first experience of VR, so I hope they manage to pull it off reasonably well.

I hate to play devil's advocate, but keeping existing customers happy is a decent benefit. Those customers are then more likely to upgrade to the next Logitech product rather than switch to a competitor.

(But as I said, I don't know their reasons - it's possible they're technical rather than financial, who knows?)

I suspect Logitech's problem is they made their stuff too reliable ;) ...it would make them money mid to long term supporting legacy, if old LT stuff broke and you replaced it with a g29, but if it doesn't, then it will actually cost them money from the most likely people to buy a g29.

Anywho, buy a thrustmaster, fanatec or Logitech and start having fun :)

If you look at the patch notes, this patch only addresses AI speed on slicks in the rain. I remember doug posting the AI was also a bit too fast in general in the wet (even on the correct tire), and he was in the process of adjusting their pace. I'm guessing that will be in the next update. Also, if there's only one tire available for a car, I would think it's an all weather tire and not a slick tire. That would mean the slick tires in rain fix in this patch doesn't affect the Escort.

Seeing the replies to my comment, I really should clarify - We submitted a complex patch for approval (just check the XBox One specific entries in the release notes). It takes time to test this thoroughly. It's better that it takes longer to test properly and approve, than that you all end up with a broken patch! So, if anything, be thankful that they're being thorough :)
