It's a non-starter for me! I am extremely jealous of you guys!

I have thought of ordering one and having it mysteriously "APPEAR", but seeing I did that trick for the xb1 in December I can't do it again.

I don't want to spend the rest of the year sleeping on the couch, mind you I will be close to the xb1.

My wife is okay with it. As long as I get my stuff out of the living room (where my PC is atm)...
This means I'll have to go in our currently empty room, which I have to refurbish first - and I hate to paper the room and then paint it... Even if this will be my own gaming room then.

Told my wife there's an opening special on household at the new opening centre and off we go. Bought her a good range dishwasher and she hinted I should get something for myself too. Just told her I already did - and back at home out came my TX and playseat. No complaints [yet].

When I was a married man I used to collect guns, lots of them. My wife was somewhat concerned at the amount of firepower I had sitting in my gunsafe. When I would accuire a new firearm I would set in my display case and not touch it for at least a week or two. Make sure she saw it in there. She would eventually ask me if I had bought a new gun. I would say "Why no Dear..I've had that for a while now".

Remember it's always easier to ask forgiveness then to ask permission....

Gotta love the wheel, cockpit, big TV and surround sound! I'd sleep in the chair - but it's meant for racing so I just race. I'll sleep when I'm dead. Or leave the sleeping to those joy stick jockeys. Racing with a proper setup is SOOOOOO worth the expense!

I bought the TX and told her how much of a bargain it was compared to a new fanatec... Then slipped in the Th8a and T3PA pedals under cover of darkness... Unfortunately the delivery people left the TM rim with my neighbour who now has me over a barrel... I am expecting blackmail notes slipped under the front door any day now...

Please everyone... Remember to eat this message once you read it... Don't let her find out...please!

Wife walked in the gameroom and sees me on the computer looking at a Simxperience Stage IV.
"Where do you plan on putting that thing" she says
I just point at the big fancy treadmill and the elliptical trainer she just HAD to have and has not used if forever...

"I'm sure we can make room" I say smiling

The look on her face while she was trying to form a argument in her head was priceless.

MikeyTT

MikeyTT Whats the fanatec like? Better or just different to the thrustmaster? No pedals?

I came from the T500 with an upgraded spring. The pedals are IMO much better in being able to keep a consistent lap time. With the brake being pressure driven and not distance, as with the T500, I found I was quicker at being able to gauge a brake point and put in a fast time. I'm 100% sure I could do that with the T500, but it would have taken more time.

The wheel is another world tho. Whilst I liked the T500, and I'm not sure if mine was having issues, but as soon as I ran on the Fanatec, it was just so much smoother and the feeling in the detail was greatly enhanced. Gone was any notchiness I used to get from the T500 and I could suddenly really start to feel what the FFB wanted me to. It's an expensive purchase, certainly with a wheel or two, but personally I think it's worth it. I've not started to play around with the settings either yet, I'm just using it as it came and I've yet to have the time to look at Jacks FFB tweaker stuff yet, so I would imagine I'm missing out on extra goodness on top of what I already feel.

I haven't had a shifter before so that's all new, but it really does add another dimension. I've been thrashing around Oulton with the Caterham on full manual mode and it really does make the experience and the drive much closer to reality. Having driven a lot of laps there in real life races it's worth the extra.

I'm just mulling over getting the Fanatec handbrake for when I get chance to do some rallying, but it's a lot for what it is.

Hope that helps...
