View Full Version : Project CARS causes wheel sales to soar

As with any racing simulator, Project CARS is best played with a wheel such as the Thrustmaster T300. Unsurprisingly, since the release of Project CARS demand for wheel peripherals has soared significantly - particularly on console where wheels aren't as commonplace as PC, with many retailers currently sold out of popular products.

German site Computerbase reports that Thrustmaster's T300 RS, for example, has been in particularly high demand, with some retailers reporting more than 100 preorders out of stock.

It's a similar story for German manufacturer Fanatec - their flagship CSR wheel is currently out of stock in Europe.

Here in the UK, a quick look at Amazon UK reveals a similar situation. You can currently buy a Thrustmaster T300RS for 250 on Amazon, but the dispatch time is currently listed as one - two months, indicating a shortage in supply. It's the same for the T300 Ferrar GTE edition.

Still, this combined with Project CARS' strong sales shows that Slightly Mad Studio's plans to proliferate the console sim racing market is working, as more players are realising the benefits of a wheel setup on console as more racing titles start to support them.

No wonder I can't find a cheap second hand Logitec DFGT within my price range:)

I bought a Thrustmaster t300rs because of this game. Never had a wheel before and played tons of other racing games.

Yep, I am going to need a wheel soon :( Need to find room for it amongst my HOTAS setup for flight sims.

Me to. Bought a FFB wheel for the first time in my life (T100 works great) and would never play a racing game without one ever again. I have seen the light!

I'm pretty sure im going to sell my Fanatec CSR wheel and pedals as they are not compatible with my XB1. But it works fine with XB360, PS3, PS4, and PC.

I also bought my wheel specifically for this game. I bought it months in advance expecting them to be in high demand. It was my first wheel purchase as well (T100) and i cant imagine racing without it now.

I'm a statistic too. T300 is just too much fun.

I'm a bit opposite - I have a DFGT (which I got for GT5), now I just need a PS4, which will come next year. Since I already had an Xbox One, I bought that version of the game.

I get so immersed when I play this game, that it creates desire and urgency to buy a wheel. And I'm pretty good with a controller. I played so many racing games and never felt this desire to get a wheel.

Time to sell the T300 & add-on wheels then;) I'm building a diy wheel which I'm hoping will be the last wheel I'll ever need

I just received my new Thrustmaster T300rs - it's a big step from the Logitech G27 (I'm using the G27 pedals with a $20. adapter). Absolutely love it.... lots to learn but I love the feel of the tires - especially on a formula car as they bounce through a corner at high speed.... terrific... just do it... it's worth the money.

I use to have a Fanatec CSR but only used it twice before selling it on Ebay. It was dumb but I had more fun at the time playing Forza 4 with a controller. If I would have had a rig it might have been a different story. I then found out a buddy had a spare wheel (DFGT) when I started getting more hardcore into gaming on my PC so he's been letting me borrow it until I get my new setup. I currently have a few of the pieces but am still waiting on my base, rim, and pedal combo from Fanatec but it should be here in the next couple weeks. As long as it doesn't get delayed, again. Can't wait!

That was also my problem. How to FPS, Race with sequential shifter or H-shifter and fly all together from one seat without much hustle to change controllers. In the end i created my own seat. You can also look at this: http://obutto.com/index.php/gaming-cockpits/
