I actually watched the game intro trailer for the first time last night. I then thought this game looks so good!

Something then came to my mind.....

Why can't we have those replay angles in the actual game? The replays are pretty shoddy and don't showcase your races as well as they could. Are there any ideas to improve the replays at some point?

The replay cams are based on real life coverage. I wouldn't call them shoddy.

The free cam Ed uses to get the cool shots for vids wouldn't work in a dynamic environment. Clipping etc could be a nightmare without manual control.

Ahh fair one. I don't know the technical requirements that are needed for replays.

Im just saying it would be better if they were more dynamic. Switching between different battles and views like the cockpit or bonet/bumper view for example. Like say how F1 is televised etc. Something to work towards maybe....

I hope the replays are work in progress, I think as a must you should be able to switch from car to car to see other events that happened in the race other than only focusing on yourself, an opportunity to break into photo mode to capture a specific moment (Again not only focusing on your own situation) and the ability to view telemetry details for after race reviewing

For anyone who has severe OCD :culpability:

There is actually a little aspect ratio inconsistency with the XBO Intro ;) watch it closely
On the first run intro before you start the game, notice the black bars ...
then enter the game ...
Wait ...
WAIT ...
It will then automatically replay ...
Watch it again ...

Now You will see the correct aspect ratio on the second run which matches the PS4/PC ;)

It's a little Easter egg that eats away at my soul like an out of place coaster or an unfluffed pillow ;)

The difference is a few pixels, but my OCD goes full tilt when I see it :D

I would also highly welcome improvements in replays. Not just in terms of features, but quality too. The quality improved heavily just few months before release, but I still see big room for improvements. People with 4k screens and high-end graphic cards would deserve a perfect 60 fps visual experience. Apart from already reported issues like stuttering camera movements (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHHuEJfx5yA&feature=youtu.be&t=643) (these camera movements shown at 4:08 are almost everytime choppy (https://youtu.be/3-r9prT3WhU?t=249)), stuttering cars in replays (http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/showthread.php?22315-Known-Issues-Collective-Thread-%28PC%29-Not-for-bug-reporting!&p=889935&viewfull=1#post889935) and inappropriate drops of water on TV cameras' lenses (http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/showthread.php?21846-PLEASE-READ-How-to-report-issues&p=884822&viewfull=1#post884822) or lights leaking through solid objects (https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-RY11lKXC8YE/VUiOvSHqjMI/AAAAAAAAJ0w/jhB6PwmYV3I/s2048/mask-light.jpg), it would be nice to fix issues listed below (all of the video links have a time chapter in the link, but YouTube Center or similar browser add-ons may override it):

- unfortunate camera framing reveals there are no camera dollies or rails around the track (https://youtu.be/eU1lKczv_io?t=424)

- framing the player's car sometimes looks too much precise and center-oriented (like it is a robot, not a camera guy holding the camera)

- more onboard camera shots would be highly appreciated, it would make replays more diverse

- car gets out of the frame (https://youtu.be/eU1lKczv_io?t=507), even though "camera guy is decided to follow it" (https://youtu.be/3-r9prT3WhU?t=278).

- shots from a helicopter could be accompanied by helicopter sound and should differ from one lap to another (it is impossible to make identic moves with a helicopter), framing of car to the center should be even less precise (https://youtu.be/oFx7oiGieSY?t=450)

- wrong timing of cuts, too rapid acceleration of a camera movement (https://youtu.be/3-r9prT3WhU?t=52) (another example (https://youtu.be/-TuJtooCXXU?t=654))

- camera collides with a branch of a tree (https://youtu.be/-TuJtooCXXU?t=810)

- camera almost collide with a tree (camera guys should avoid breaking their camera) (https://youtu.be/3-r9prT3WhU?t=147)

- obviously unreal shots (where could the camera be placed here?) (https://youtu.be/16dFtoZluqQ?t=11)

- camera shows low quality (https://youtu.be/-TuJtooCXXU?t=597) or empty places in great detail/focus (https://youtu.be/16dFtoZluqQ?t=62)

- I haven't seen slow dolly shot a single time (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZpxYbJojUQ)

- Depth of Field effects are almost missing (I see some only far away from camera)

- camera shots could exchange a little from lap to lap

- missing lens-flare effects in night caused by headlights (https://youtu.be/AUFYtgNan6E?t=90)

- framing is sometimes completely wrong (https://youtu.be/-TuJtooCXXU?t=581)

These are just a few. These are not an individual cases. Such imperfections are present across all tracks.

Those beautiful cars would really deserve a little bit more love. Replays are part of a reason why I think presentation qualities of pCARS are not as great (http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/showthread.php?29558-The-pCARS-v-Forza-discussion&p=967896#post967896) as they could be.

On the other side, there are some really beautiful replay effects, especially in chicanes. The shake when car goes around is also nice. I love camera exposure compensation effect in cuts (effect similar to fade-in). Camera at the start of the race is mostly (http://gifmaker.cc/PlayGIFAnimation.php?folder=2015042121eCIHXHdtIMzN18Ak5ftzhX&file=output_4WYjcT.gif)perfect. And lastly, all of your pCARS trailers had amazing cinematography. Give me more of that! :-)

*snip*

That's a very detailed and expertly-crafted post full of constructive criticism and suggestions. Thanks!

I too am a big fan of replays, and finally seeing them at 60fps in pCARS is amazing. I agree with a lot of what you say, especially increasing the helicopter noise from the helicam and mixing up the views from lap to lap. Hopefully the devs will find the time to tweak the replays once the major bugs are dealt with.

I would like the ability to jump from car to car in replay mode. I did a race today in Formula Rookie where both my teammate and I started on the third row. I was focused on taking P1 and didn't pay much attention to what was happening midfield. Long story short, I won the race but my teammate crashed and DNF. It would be nice to see what happened to him.

I love that the replays are like real life coverage, I think PCars replays are some of the best I've seen and once the stuttering and other glitches in them are fixed (hoping they will be fixed :D) then they will be epic.

I'd just like to have more 'sets' of replays so that they're not exactly the same lap after lap. GT seems to have 3 sets that repeat. But I believe that requires a lot of work.

I'd like more wide angles that view interesting battles between a two or more cars from a larger distance (zooming in and out) over a larger portion of the circuit.

In real life, you'll often get one camera guy capturing cars coming down a long straight from a distance, zooming out as they come closer, then following them round a few bends before they disappear to the next camera guy.

Currently (and in most games) you'll get a narrow angle view of one car fixed in the centre frame and everything else flying by in the background. This does vary from track to track in pCARS though.

Certainly like to see more life-like "coverage" of a race - moving from battle to battle, with much more information available about who is doing what laptimes, who is catching who etc.

I haven't played a game yet that has made me feel like I'm watching the race like I would see on TV. Must be hard though.
