I was driving the BMW 1-series M Coupé on California Highway, and Azure Coast, and I noticed something "odd", at leat to me.

The Car hase a lets say given volume during like 90% of the RMP range, and then on those last 10% (High RPM) it gets very loud.
This seem for me to be a bit unrealistic, as I never encountered a car, that has such exponential increase in the noise at high RMP-s.

Is this really how that car sounds?
And if yes, I would be interested what makes is sound like that, I mean its like if you would open up the muffler, os something.

Thanks for reading :)

Yes - Its the variable valve timing. And yes it is sorta akin to opening up a muffler.
