With the PC version of Patch 2.0 now rolling out, here are the final PC specific patch notes.

Project CARS – PC Patch 2.0 – Release Notes

Performance Improvements
* Up to 5% frame rate improvement when using Ultra settings

Online & Community Events
* Multiplayer search filter 'Skill' now finds games based upon certain lobby game configuration criteria. For example, “Pro” setting now searches for Full Damage or manual-start Engine or Forced Cockpit or Mechanical Failure, and so forth.
* Community events page – when an event cannot be entered, it will now display the reason why: ‘Coming Soon’ along with a countdown, or ‘Expired’.
* Online – Ensure that vehicle light repairs are synchronized in MP races so that repaired headlights are visible by other racers.

Controls
* Adjustments made to the gears system, to prevent gears being skipped under certain conditions. This addresses an issue where gears would at times jump straight down to 1st, potentially causing engine blowouts.
* Steering wheels – reduced the centering rate of the steering spring. This improves the feel of steering wheels at very low speeds.
* Added support for the use of all active controllers for menu input. You can for example now use a steering wheel to race, and a gamepad to control the menus and photo mode.
* Gear shifters – when using an H-shifter on a car that has a sequential gearbox, the gearbox will now switch through the gears until the gear selected on the H-shifter is reached.
* Fixed an issue in Force Feedback calibration that would prevent a player from setting "Soft Clipping (Half Input)" back to 0 after modifying it from the original value.

Physics & AI
* Slowed down the AI opponents in the rain when using racing tyres, to make racing against them better balanced.
* Adjusted the AI tyre wear rate to better match the player’s tyre wear rate.
* Adjusted wear of Slicks and Rain tires to more realistic levels where needed. Typically GT/LMP/Formula cars will get slightly more than a full fuel load on soft or default slicks (depending on fuel load amounts).
* Adjusted the heating of slicks and rain tyres to more realistic levels.
* Adjusted tyre temperature sensitivity on several cars.
* Adjusted rain tyres to generally be more sensitive to overheating, and less efficient in the dry.
* Improvements to AI navigation to lessen collisions during cramped race starts, improve detection of other cars during cornering, and improve clean overtaking
* Improved the AI pitting logic during practice and qualifying so that the AI cars run more realistic stints before pitting.
* Reworked the AI’s fuelling logic during qualifying sessions where no refuelling is allowed, so that they don’t always fill up the fuel tanks and negatively impact their qualifying ability. The AI will now deliver far more competitive lap times during qualifying.
* Fixed an issue where the AI would set impossible lap times during races with pit stops.
* The AI will now pit as soon as possible when low on fuel to prevent them running out of fuel and retiring from the race.
* Reduced the effect of damage to the car’s cooling system when suffering aero damage. This prevents engines from overheating and blowing at an unrealistic rate.
* Fixed an issue that prevented bump starts from working properly on some cars. An example case – with gears and clutch set to manual, take an Ariel Atom out on Brands Hatch. At the first right hander, stall the car, ignition on, 2nd gear, roll down the hill up to about 15kph and drop the clutch. The car will now bump start. Exact conditions for a successful bump start will vary slightly by car.
* Fixed an issue where at times some AI drivers in a race would use much higher skill levels than the rest of the field.
* Fixed an issue that prevented the AI from pitting within the final 3 laps of a race
* Further tweaked the AI ability in wet races to more closely match the player car’s ability in the wet
* Improved the AI’s efficiency in pit timing when needing to change tyres due to weather conditions.

Pitting, tuning, setups
* Fixed an issue where wet tyres were fitted too long before the rain starts, causing excessive overheating and wear on the tyres.
* Fixed an issue where, when running low on fuel, the Pit Board would appear to tell the player to do a scheduled pit stop when the player did not schedule a pit stop.
* Fixed an issue where flat tyres were fitted to the car during a pit stop, by ensuring that the tyres are correctly inflated.
* Fixed an issue where the car’s bump-stop value decreased after leaving a race session and joining it again.
* Reworked the brake bias display information so that changing the values is more intuitive.

Tracks
* Performance optimisation pass done on: Brands Hatch layouts, Cadwell layouts, Oulton Park layouts, Bathurst, Azure circuit, and Zolder. This helps improve the overall smoothness when racing on these tracks with large grids of cars.
* Track cutting tolerances reduced on all tracks where it was too forgiving.
* Fixed an issue where a pit crew character would at times appear floating above the race track on various tracks.
* Silverstone Stowe – fixed render issues on some tyre stacks, and addressed an issue with cars driving through certain objects.
* Road America – fixed an issue where a line of grass line appeared in the air near a concrete barrier.
* Spa Francorchamps – fixed an issue where cars under AI control would bump into the pit wall when exiting the pit lane. Fixed an issue where the AI were running too wide over the exit curb at the Bus Stop Chicane.
* Brno – fixed an issue where cars would at times start in the same grid positions, fixed garage six to prevent the AI from getting stuck on the right side wall when exiting the garage spot, fixed an issue when running more than 20 cars in a race would cause the car in 21st to slide into the pits.
* Le Mans – fixed an issue that would at times cause the car to crash while in the pit lane, leading to a disqualification. Improved the AI race line for better speed, and improved the AI behaviour on curbs.
* Laguna Seca – improved the AI performance as they were running too slow in some sections.
* Imola – Improved the pit lane AI navigation, and fixed an issue with a section of the fence at the pit entrance that appear to float.
* Bathurst - fixed a render issue with shimmering edges in parts of the track.

Career
* Added a new RUF RGT8 GT3 contract to ensure that the player can enter the RUF GT3 series on contract renewal and not just when starting a new career.
* Fixed the unlock details for the Supercar Ardennes Club Day Invitational.
* Fixed an issue where skipping the session during a race caused the player to move up in the session results.

Vehicles
* Group 5 cars – adjusted the gearshift timing tolerances to fix an issue with the gearing when pausing and restarting a session.
* Gumpert Apollo – fixed an issue with the livery sets that caused the livery selection to display wrong liveries.
* Aston Martin Vantage GT3 – tuned engine lifetime and brake cooling parameters for better accuracy.
* Lotus 98T – tweaked turbo to improve AI estimation of top speed.
* McLaren F1 GTR – modified the default setup and reduced front bump steer to improve straight line stability, fixed an issue to ensure that the car’s specific HUD motec display is used
* McLaren F1 - Fixed an issue that caused the car to use the wrong default tyre compound.
* Ford GT40 MK4 – Reworked in several areas to improve handling and match the real car closer - Bump stops settings exposed in setup with better tuned setup defaults, increased wrap around stiffness of the tire carcass, rebalanced base vs tear grip, rebalanced player vs AI rain performance against the AI.
* All Formula vehicles – Stop brake light reflections appearing on cars that don’t have brake lights.

General
* Fixed an issue where the player position would at times change to last when player crosses the starting line during rolling starts.
* Fixed an issue that could cause the game to crash when selecting the ‘Edit Tuning Setup’ option in the ‘PIT BOX’ screen.
* Fixed an issue that could cause the game to crash while watching a saved replay.
* Driver Network Profile – fixed an issue where entering Free Practice mode would count toward Races Entered.
* Audio – rebalanced the volume of skid sounds to make them a bit more audible.
* Oculus Rift – added Oculus 0.6.0.0 SDK support, enabled positional tracking in non-helmet player camera views, implemented initial menus and HUD support, auto reset player view position at the start of a race, and disabled all non-VR-friendly scripted pre-race camera sequences.
* D-BOX – fixed an issue that caused cars to lose power when playing with D-BOX connected.
* Updated the achievement "I am the 5%" to ensure that it can be achieved in non-Pro-modes as well.
* Fixed a game crash issue caused by an overflow of the email inbox when the player received above a certain amount of invitational emails.
* GUI – fixed an issue where the controls configuration arrows in Options would not respond correctly to mouse input when attempting fine adjustment.

I know this the PC version, but I didn't see a fix for the Online issues that don't let you drive in sessions or change the camera when it isn't locked in a session.

So, the FFB is fixed now? I mean, that weird problem, where the FFB was clipping horribly, when Tireforce was set above 10. It isn't mentioned in the release notes...

Anyway, FFB feels really dull after a 1.4 patch with tire force set to 10 after a Controller reset.

Taking a break from a BBQ and this ludicrously good UK weather to allow the install of the new patch.

Would love to test this tonight but i think i'll end up a becoming one with the leather chair so i'll have a try on the next rainy day we get
For those trying to get this later on tonight, Steam goes down for maintenance sometime around 11:00pm - 12:00am UK time

Having troubles searching for individual posts that mention the keyword 'version' on this forum, as i only see the search results listed as seperate threads (not posts), so i'm going to have to ask again i'm afraid:

How can i check my version of the game again? Not sure if 2.0 downloaded automatically or not.

Thanks in advance.

The FFB is still clipping and very heavy. Reducing the tire force (to 40) "fixed" it for me.

You would see it in the completed downloads section of your Steam Library.

Although I think there is an error in Versioning. 2.0.0.0? I would think it would be 1.0.2.0 using previous version conventions.

Some people like me and others reported that the game would enter a non-ending loading loop(the clock and music stay playing but the track never actually finishes loading, Clearing Steam Cache helped for a while but even that stopped fixing It). That´s why I said that, hope this patch(which I haven´t downloaded yet) fixes It. Or i´ll ask for a refund...which I hope It´s not the case because I love It but I want to be able to play It.

Was really hoping the FFB bug was fixed in v1.5 (aka 2.0) , can we get a hotfix released for this please? I haven't played PCars since v1.4 because of this bug and don't really feel like going back to my gamepad :/

I would like to address my compliments to the SMS team for a job well done.

I kind of benchmarked pCars using its worst performance scenario. That would be the lower than usual FPS at Monaco/Azure Circuit with sudden FPS drop (below 60 FPS at the Nouvelle Chicane) and lack of smooth gameplay. I can now report a staggering 120 FPS using Adaptive V-Sync on a GTX 980.

(I understand that 1080p isn't that much of a computational challenge and since I really don't observe the benifits of ULTRA settings I pretty much prefer high stable FPS, and yes I DO notice the difference between 60 and 90 FPS as far as fluidity is concerned; also, using my config sweet spot, GPU occupancy typically can spare 10-25% for some busy grid or intensive weather)

Regarding CPU, and this may be some placebo in action, I see some pretty decente multi-threading over the 8 logical cores. I can only dream what DX 12 would do for this game. And what about if I throw it an hexa-core i7 and twin GTX 980 Ti (probably not in SLI since DX12 will take the most of GPU abstracion)?

Oh my... and the Occulus CV1 in Q1 2016...

Such exciting times...

Thank you SMS for patch 2.0!! Improvements that stood out after a quick quali/race and a time trial:

- AI drove like they had a family (not too harsh, not too kind)
- Tire scrubbing made the appropriate sound for planetary atmosphere
- Two wheels off under low-G conditions did not require a restart
- Slight touch of cars did not result in the crazy glue coming down

My tone is in jest. The game was very interesting before. Now it's very fun!

Alan Dallas

I don't think so - the last patch was 1.4.

Last patch was 1.0.1.4 and the one previous was 1.0.1.3.

So my original statement stands. 1.0.2.0 would make more sense than 2.0.0.0 on a versioning standpoint, being this is pCARS1.

I'm just guessing, but I think I had this issue previously when I had multiple weather slots selected but the same weather conditions for both, i.e. Clear, Clear. Changing it to 1 slot or two types of weather seemed to fix it for me. Sorry if completely unrelated!

So I still can't 'complete' the game :(

I thought I'd be able to after the inclusion of the missing RUF contract but the win 2 and 4 team championships are still unfixed, no it wasn't in the patch notes but I thought this would have been a given for what I would imagine be an easy fix.

Oh well, my bucket list still has a couple of ticks missing.

Apart from that, good patch - I noticed the cut track warnings more often and a noticeable improvement in the AI.

I agree it's a bad default (since v1.4) but why call it a bug?

EDIT: Ah, I see. Apparently there is a bug which is when you press the controller reset button you get strange clipping. Since I constantly switch between two wheels I may well have had the bug and just assumed it was related to new tyre force defaults.

charliev69
01-07-2015, 11:06
I've had to reduce my TF but it doesn't mean it's a bug. Just because your TF isn't on a 100 doesn't mean it's wrong, the TF even goes to 200 so you have a wide scale to adjust. Mine is on between 30 and 40 as I keep tweaking to get it right.

If SMS had told us all about the TF / FFB changes introduced in 1.4 and the need to reduce our TF force to compensate all this would complaining would have been negated !!
Maybe the BUG term isnt correct but something was changed and not for the better.

Alot of people need help understanding FFB, there are alot of threads on here to explain it and help you do so, stop saying FFB is bugged, just because it's too strong for you, I'm sure there are resources on the forum that can help you if you look, instead of following Ian's posts around saying stuff is bugged. It diverts attention from actual gameplay problems and bugs, like Multiplayer and stuff, not to mention probably drives the Devs away. Just take a breathe and search the forum people

turning down ffb/tf makes no sence at all since you lower all effects, you get rid of the centre rattle/shaking (talking of the g27) and the clipping stops tho but the ffb is way to light then.
it was possible until 1.4 to use ffb 100/tf 100-200 without any issues.

Hi Ian , the problem that a lot of us have since 1.4 is that with default settings we get clipping and a bad driving experience , this can be fixed by lowering our TF values accordingly and use Jack Spades Teaker files.
But a new inexperienced user who doesnt frequent this forum isnt going to know about this easy fix and might well give up on the game .
The default FFB settings therefore need adjusting , mainly for TM and Logi wheels as the Fanatec wheels seem unaffected .

Indeed there are numerous threads explaining FFB principles. I love the game and its abundant tuning options, but I regret that these threads were not written or even confirmed by SMS, there is no manual and screen informations are not enough detailed or are missing. Many threads indicate SET FFB and TYRE FORCES TO 100 but we don t know if it is the good way to start the tuning since it is not the values of the released game... I still don't know neither what is the difference (if any) between setting high Master Scale values/low individual Forces or low Master Scale values/high individual Forces. What are Per Wheel Movement?, Per Wheel Movement Squared?, Relative Adjust Gain?, Relative Adjust Bleed?, Relative Adjust Clamp? and so on...

Believe me I know. There have been fourteen billion posts about it.

We're going to add three predefined settings so people can choose what they prefer without having to fiddle excessively.

I'm with ya bud, I had to practically go to night school to understand it at all, and I still don't lol. I'm using mostly defaults.

that's good news Ian, is it possible to have an external ini or xml file similar to Jack Spade's car files to make finer tuning for controller's?

If this is impossible I understand

Hopefully we can still fiddle if we want to though? And they won't override the settings we already have in?

I would be seriously thinking about packing it in if i was one of the sms devs reading this lot.

Loads of fixes and a few minor niggles, be constructive and try and help get them fixed ffs. Depressing bunch of *****

Hooray, I'm back on track. After another session of testing, reseting and adjusting I found the problem of my set-up. May be it can help some of the people who suffer from central spring. I do not know if this is related to my system, but I realised that after reseting my wheel ingame and recalibrating it, the settings were not saved properly.
I deleted the Project Cars document file, calibrated my wheel after binding the keys. I lowered the tire force to 13 and left the rest default(soft clipping(0/0) and deadzone removal(0/0)). I added the tweak files of Jack Spade, and what should I say, it feels perfect again. In between I checked several times if my values of calibration changed or were saved the way I set them.
By the way, it means a lot that I could not resist to stop testing. Project Cars is awesome and although I was a little bit frustrated yesterday i just hope you guys from SMS do not get affected by the amount of negative posts. Keep up the good work. :)

You would see it in the completed downloads section of your Steam Library.

Although I think there is an error in Versioning. 2.0.0.0? I would think it would be 1.0.2.0 using previous version conventions.

??
You know what that means, right?

We'll get a downgrade next... ;)

Very similar here, Gt2 wheel, reset controller and only adjusted tire force to 20 in my case, rest default, jacks files, and all seems pretty good. With the ffb side of things

Yes for Sure, someone got it all wrong...

Ian's post was a bit of Sarcasm.. He Never once said that pCars1 was to be abandoned..
He was replying to some other sour post, and being sarcastic..

What he Actually said was that a Team of Their top 40 devs are working Night and Day to sort out all the issues..
He also said he was investing like 400,000 a month just on updates to pCars 1

can't find the posts to Quote him on it..
but Man, that's commitment...

Patch 2.0 was just because, PC got a patch, Xbox 1 got a patch, and Ps4 got a patch, so instead of 1.5, 1.6, 1.7.... they combined them all into one roll out and called it Patch 2.0

Just the timing of the Patch announcement, with opening the funding for pCars 2, fell so close together, that too many members jumped on the Rumor Wagon, and are spreading wrong information.

Ian Bell, and SMS are Committed to continued Support of pCars 1, and future enhancements and DLC's

Their Transparency, Openness, and Involvement on these forums, Should more than enough Speak for their dedication to it...
This is their Blood, Sweat and Tears, and Years of their Lives invested in this...

Does anyone really think they would abandon it? Seriously?

edit: got treed by Bealdor while looking for Ian's post to quote.

Was really hoping the FFB bug was fixed in v1.5 (aka 2.0) , can we get a hotfix released for this please? I haven't played PCars since v1.4 because of this bug and don't really feel like going back to my gamepad :/

Try my temporary solution. I have no problems at all driving the cars now. The bug can be worked around and still get awesome FFB.

The key here being that you lowered Tire Force down to 13.

Everybody should start by lowering the Tire Force to very low levels. It usually helps.

Unfortunately adding presets isn't going to fix the problem as this bug was introduced in patch v1.4 and is still present in v2.0.

Using default values, ffb with the G27 is way to heavy with massive clipping. Turning down tire force to 20 isn't really a proper solution and still doesn't give the same ffb feeling we had in v1.0 to v1.3. :(

tpw
02-07-2015, 23:13
Lowering relative adjust clamp to 0.2-0.3 instead of lowering tire force gives reduced wheel heaviness and removes clipping, whilst retaining other ffb effects.

Anyone not using direct drive or csw v2 wheels should really consider using the soft clipping settings to be able to up the tyre force and get non clipping, strong FFB.

Will the cars getting stuck together from slight contact be fixed? It's really annoying trying to have close racing in a corner and suddenly neither person can steer until you both end up off track.
