Hi guys,

some Feedback from you would be really helpful for me that I can improve the rights things.

Some questions come into my mind:

Any performance issues with the App?
Does the automatic track selection works in race mode?
Is the usage of distance mode clear?
Does the slow motion mode helps in analyzing the gaps?
Are the recorded AI-Trainer useful for analyzing your own laps?

It would be great to hear your opinions.

One month ago I released Race Trainer App for Project CARS. Time for a short review:

Unfortunately it's very quiet here in this thread. I am a bit perplexed that there is neither positive nor negative feedback.

From my point of view there exists 2 possible reasons for that:

The Race Trainer App is junk and useless for most users.
The App is unknown for most users.

I have already achieved my learning objective during developing Race Trainer App, so I am not really disappointed if reason (1) is the truth.

If you think the App is commonly unknown but has some potential for having fun and learn racing, it's up to you and the community to use and discuss Pock Race Trainer for gaining more popularity.

An active thread would a great advertisement!

One more Thing (Swatch Patent): (http://appleapple.top/swiss-watchmaker-swatch-has-patented-the-legendary-phrase-of-steve-jobs-one-more-thing/) :)
It would greatly help if real racers or fast drivers use Race Trainer as background task and provide some of their laps to the community here for leanring from the Pro's.

Maybe some of you guys have a good connection to a Pro racer or know well fast drivers to persuade them to use Pock Race Trainer. That would be cool.

Sorry mate, you did an excellent job with this app and it looked great :star: but I never really got to use it because since last update I have not been playing pCars as I only race on the dk2 Rift and have had issues with it. Hopefully at some point I will be back racing and will give you some better feedback. Surprised that others have not picked up on the usefulness of this as a racing/learning tool  Is it possible you make it an Android app that can run via a sli setup ?

pock1910

^ unfortunately it is not that easy. I did some experiments with Android but this will exceeds my possibilities.

I have to say I never looked into this since yesterday its the first time I found about it. How does the trainer function works? Do you get a ghost car in game?

EDIT: Forgot to mention that it looks like a very good and useful app. I suggest you continue improving it and try to make it more known to the masses.

You have a lot of alternatives in using a trainer:

Select a trainer from the orange Trainer Box
Train with the ghost of Time Trial
Train with an online member in multiplayer
Train with an AI in an offline race
Use your previous recorded laps as trainer reference.
Record an AI of your choice (Track/car combo) and use that AI as trainer.

Currently only the trainer from the Trainer Box (1) and your recorded laps/AI (5, 6) have all details of telemetry data available (shared memory restriction).

Algo
06-09-2015, 15:22
Is there a way to record/review ghost cars? I can get it to work on the live screen but its kinda hard to see anything while you are driving on tt. I want to do what you can do with your own laps/ai trainers but i did not find a way.

pock1910
07-09-2015, 00:14
You can record ghost data with the following steps:

Race Trainer: Please select <Race Mode> and the option <AI-Ghost-MP>.
pCARS: Choose in Time Trial a track and add the ghost you want to race.
pCARS: Race some laps in Time Trial mode.

=> the gost is recorded and you can analyze the ghost in replay mode or you can use the recorded ghost as trainer for your next race sessions.

Unfortunately we have the following restriction with the current API:

Only Raceline and Time is available for ghosts and members from online/offline race.

I know that's a big obstacle for Race Trainer, but this gap can be filled with recorded trainer laps. In these laps all needed telemetry data are
available.

An example for Brno and RUF RGT 8 (Laps from radyz/ghost and pock1910/recorded by Race Trainer):
217570

Unzip the file into the folder <TrackData/RaceLine>. Use these laps as Trainer reference and you see the huge difference.

Achilles' heel of Pock Racer Trainer:
It would be great if the fast guys/real racers use Pock Race Trainer for providing useful trainer laps. Unfortunately, this is currently not the case.

I have just downloaded this app and have done a few quick laps of Sakitto GP circuit and it looks to be fantastic. I managed to record some laps and play them back and I've had no performance issues with it at all.

Will post more feed back when I have used the app more, and I'm just going to post a link to it on our web site as more people need to see this!

@SpeedDog, @Querty:

I have a question: What culture do you use on your PC?

Your laps are uploaded, but the filename has not the correct name and I get an error if I use your laps as reference trainer.

@itsatrap:

Your recorded laps work fine as reference trainer on my system.

Thanks for testing!!

Can you please zip and upload some of your raced laps from the Folder <TrackData\RaceLine>?

Currently I am working on a monitoring feature for Race Trainer. You see all members on track during a race or replay.

It will also work for replay after a finished race. It is possible to jump to different racers during the replay and so you can analyze crashes or driving behaviour of different racers.

You can zoom in/out or select your track perspective. Here a screenshot from replaying a race at Nordschleife:

Wow Pock1910, can I just say thank you - I've just discovered your amazing work and this going to be such a useful App. I can only think that you've received limited response because many like myself were just simply unaware of this. I've literally just worked out the function of it and am seriously impressed. For me this is going to be most useful in analyzing my personal recorded laps and identifying differences with alternate lines taken and the effect on laptime. Personally for me slow chicanes are my nemesis and there's a lot of time to be gained when you hook it up correctly and consequently lost when you get it slightly wrong both during the corner and on exit on following straights. This is going to be such a great tool to identify the best method to tackle things.

In answer to some of your questions:

Any performance issues with the App? Not that I've encountered with my limited use.
Does the automatic track selection works in race mode? Not Tried
Is the usage of distance mode clear? Yes
Does the slow motion mode helps in analyzing the gaps? Yes it's a big help as is the increased speed feature.
Are the recorded AI-Trainer useful for analyzing your own laps? Personally no, I always race with no assists so will be using this for analysis against ghosts from time trial that I've previously checked also run without assists. Even without the telemetry of ghosts from TT the replay line traces and speed adjustment are user friendly enough identify any gains to be had.

Once again thank you, I expect to be using this a lot and good look with the race monitoring feature.

... I always race with no assists so will be using this for analysis against ghosts from time trial that I've previously checked also run without assists...
Unfortunately the information about the used assists is not available in Shared Memory. Therefore I cannot store this information in saved laps. I know this would be an important additional information, but currently it's not possible.

Is this a tool that could be used with PS4 at some point? This looks really useful and would really help me learn racecraft. I would go as far to say that I would pay to use this tool. If any development does take place for console use then I would be more than happy to bug test ect. I know some quick drivers that would be more than happy to put some laps in for your database.

hi Pock!
Wonderful app, my congrats. This feature is still in development right? I can't see the players and AI on track map nor the list.

Yes, the monitoring feature is still in development. I will release it within the next 3 weeks.

The "ideal line" is not available via Shared Memory. Therefore it's currently not possible to develop such a feature.

Nevertheless, Race Trainer is a Windows application. Do you have a MS laptop or a MS tablet to use Race Trainer on that hardware together with PS4?

This is the perfect tool that you have so graciously come up with and offered. I have a windows PC right beside me and was able to download your app (it's the only one, and in my opinion, the best one, because it's a trainer...the ultimate goal of these things). I also have an XBOX next to the PC with all the proper wheels and connections. I run one league and compete in many more, so I'll be happy to do my utmost to spread the word and get some laps in the database. If I'm lucky, some may be mine! Okay...one maybe. I'm very excited to use this and help market.

One thing...although console racers are not as PC adept, many are, and they far far outstrip PC racers when it comes to numbers. Of the many I know, all would die to have an app like this or similar. There is only one other app right now that works on the console that is run from a PC. But I believe yours is better. Much better.

Question is -- when can you open the floodgates and let the UDP steam work with your program? I tried several times via hardwire and router. I was at all times conected to the internet, so I know my laptop (recent model) is getting a signal. Also, my Android phone works with the UDP stream too. Any time frame?

Great work. And thanks again. I'm sure you will be flooded once the console crowd gets wind of this. Feel free to ask me to test anything or submit any laps (some of us are pretty good, myself excluded).

I downloaded the updated ver 2.0.0. Then I unzipped it and ran the main file to bring up the program. My UDP was set to "1" and the project cars "button" in the upper left never said "connected". When I went on track (Brno), this didn't change. Oddly, it was calculating fps in the upper right, so it "saw" my system somehow. Also, I was connected via Air Port using Parallels emulator on a Mac Book Pro. Then I set to "5" UDP and got the same results. I can also see many (as promised!) are contributing "training" laps, but I could not get my pCARS game on xbox to be recognized. Android apps, such as pCARSDash, are working fine via UDP. Any ideas? The FPS in the upper right corner has nothing to do with PCARS connection. It shows only the UI update rate and the internal update rate of Race Trainer.

As I understand you are using Windows in the Parallels emulator on a Mac Book Pro. A good way to test the PCARS connection on the Windows system is the application Wireshark: https://www.wireshark.org/

You should see on your Windows system UDP entries on port 5606. If you can see something like this in Wireshark the connection PCARS - Race Trainer should work:

Can you post a picture of this issue? What value have you set for UDP? I did most of the tests with UDP value 1. It would also be interesting which hardware specification you are using for Race Trainer.

I will mate next time it happens , Also i can't seem to get the replay option to work i'm using a windows 8.1 tablet so that might be the issue. I'm using udp1 no issues with the app running it's smooth no lag , Also does it automatically record fast lap times so you can add them to the list.

Some questions here:
Can you select the <Replay> option?
Can you select the <Play> button from the blue racer box?

Yes i can select the replay but there is no play button everything is there on screen once i resize it to fit but i couldn't see a start button any where.

Edit here's a screenshot of the replay options for me.

^ It seems that the resolution of your Tablet is too low for Race Trainer. Currently Race Trainer has a resolution of 1920 x 1080. I agree, this is not fine for tablets. I will deliver a workaround for this in the next few days.

Here is a hotfix for PC's, tablets and laptops that do not have Full-HD resolution (1920 x 1080):

Download: Pock Race Trainer 2.0.1 - Link is no longer valid

Now there are several ways to change the size of the application without to lose some content:

Clicking on the max-screen button at the top right (the rectangle button)
Pull the grip control arrow at the bottom right
The desired size can now adjusted with: Options ... | Layout ... | Edit Size ...

224574
224573
224571

The controls are now automatically adapted to the size of the application. Therefore, it can't happen again that controls are outside of the visible area.

I want to thank here especially <notanuva>. Without his tests this circumstance would not be noticed by me.

I have looked at the trainer laps but I can't reproduce an app crash. Do you have this only with one of the trainer laps or does the app crash happens with every trainer lap?

I will have to come back to you on this as for reasons I won't bore you with i am unable to get time with game at present :(

Downloaded udp version and will be able to run some laps tomorrow, however did notice when running one of the inbuilt trainer laps the app hung when the lap was finished

I have had another look at this and what appears to happen is the floating windows you have for the track lists and trainer laps can sometimes get hidden behind the main window. The programme doesn't actually hang its just it is waiting for a selection from the floating list and its hidden. using windows > tab you can get to the floating window

Couple of other questions

When you record a lap of your own are these automatically uploaded to become part of the trainer laps for others to use or do you have to manually upload them, only asking as my laps wont be great and wouldn't want these to be automatically uploaded;)

Also can you share laps between friends

Good finding! ALT-TAB is the reason for that strange behaviour. I will fix this with the next version.

Short answer: Race Trainer do an automatic upload of trainer laps

Long answer:
Currently a lap is uploaded automatically under the following circumstance:

For each track/car combination I take the average value of the top 10 racers from cars-stats-steam.wmdportal.com.
I add some additional time to this average value.
If the lap is faster than this calculated time the lap is a trainer candidate and I do an automatic upload with such a lap.
From time to time I create trainer lap packages as downloadable content.

If there are only few exceptions, I can take this into account when I put together the trainer laps. To sort out your laps
I need the PCARS user name.

Also can you share laps between friends
Of course you can share laps between friends. The laps are stored in the folder <TrackData\RaceLine>. You can send
the laps you want to share to your friends and they have to put this laps into the folder <TrackData\RaceLine>.

I feel a little better knowing that you carryout a filtering exercise, which does make sense or you could have a lot of useless information.

It may be worth adding that explanation to the OP as some might not want to partake for whatever reason

I notice there is only around 25 trainer laps in the UDP version and wondered if that was correct or just a cut down version for testing?

Managed to finally give this a bash this morning but not getting anything happening on screen at all. It says pCars is connected and I have selected a trainer lap but when I am driving there is no input from the game displayed on the screen as you can see from my screenshot.

I am playing the game on the Xbox One (using UDP 5) and am using a Windows 10 based laptop. All other apps (pCars Dash, Crew Chief on my adnroid device and vrHive on the same latop) using the UDP streaming faciiity are working fine. Any clues as to what the problem may be here?

I ran about a dozen and this was the screen I had at that point. At one point I had the throttle stuck at full on the display and some numbers showing in the comparison boxes next to the speedo but that was it.

EDIT: Ok now seems like it's all working fine. There was a checkmark in the 'Race Recording - Minimal CPU Usage' option and I took this out and it immediately started showing my progress on the display :) Now all I need to do is to learn how to use it lol

Nothing has been saved in the RaceLine folder for todays date so I just have the one trainer lap available. Is there something I am meant to do to enable my aps to be logged and saved?

Maybe, I kind of assumed your own laps would store locally to enable you to compare them against each other and against the trainer laps. Thats kind of indicated by the post about using the Time Trial AI laps. I just though that any that are deemed good enough would make it to the app library for anyone to use for training purposes.

Only valid laps that are not that far away from the Top 10 leaderboard are trainer candidates. Some guys race a lot of laps with the same car/track combination. In that case I take only the fastest lap of the racer to avoid lap spamming. :)

You are right, 25 trainer laps is not that much, but at the moment Race Trainer is not commonly known and a lot of fast racers are not that interested in using the Race Trainer. I am also not sure if my upload feature works on every system. Therefore I appreciate every trainer lap that is published here in our forum.

It would be great if you can test UDP 1 and turn off all other apps for testing purpose to see if this change the behaviour on your system.

In your case the UDP connection is available for Race Trainer. The Track-Name is send in low frequency and this can prevent Race Trainer to work properly. But after a while you should see
Brake/Throttle and the dashboard working. After Race Trainer gets the Track-Name the Raceline should be drawn on the track.

The checkmark 'Race Recording - Minimal CPU Usage' turn off the UI rendering. Maybe it's a coincidence or a side effect that this happen on your system. The purpose of this option is to allow Racers the recording of laps with Race Trainer at minimal CPU load.

If Race Trainer works properly the own racer laps are stored in the local folder <Trackdata\Raceline>.
BUT: Only valid laps are stored into that folder.

Several criteria defines a valid lap. Some of them are:

PCARS.LapInvalidated == false
RaceTrainer.HasRisingTime() == true
RaceTrainer.HasContinuousDistance() == true

Summary: Only your clean laps are stored into local folder <Trackdata\Raceline>

Many thanks for the swift response on my queries. I'll test the different UDP settings for you with the trainer just to see if one is better than others but after I corrected that tick in the minimal cpu usage option it seemed to work fine set at 5 which is where i've left it since the option became available after patch 7. Works fine on all apps\programs so far.

I've checked the RaceLine folder and there are none of my laps stored there. I ran some clean laps at Willow so not sure why nothing has been recorded. I did however notice that the trainer got very confused if I did go offine at any point and it showed me zig-zagging across the infield several times when I was in fact on the track and took some time to get back to the correct line. I'll test some more though and get back to you.

I notice there are no Nordschleife laps available, any plans to get one up for that track at some point?

Normally the laps are uploaded automatically. But it depends on your security settings if the upload works as intended. I have looked at the upload server for your lap, but there is no stored lap from you.
It would be great if you can upload your lap to dropbox and share the link here or send me a PM. If you have some more trainer laps with different car/tracks for the community it would be fantastic, because trainer laps are very rare at the moment. :o

On my PC's everything works fine, but I will do some tests with a WIFI connection and a seperate laptop if uploading trainer laps works also in such an environment

Your laps are stored in the folder <TrackData\RaceLine>. Please give me feedback if your laps are stored in this folder.

For simplification I used a subfolder of the game to store the laps. Of course, this is only possible if the game has the rights to store the laps on your system.

Live it seems to be working fine as I can see my car and the trainer car on track and the dash stuff is working fine but I am still not getting any laps saved to my Raceline folder despite putting in many, many clean laps. For instance I beat the trainer lap by some way in the Formula C car at Brands but still nothing got saved. Does it matter where the program is located on my PC? I currently just have it in a folder on my Desktop for simplicities sake.

Sorry for the inconvenience! I don't know if it helps, when you run Race Trainer with Aministrator rights.

It should save the laps automatically to the local folder. In the Debug version I have a lot more trace and state information, but I turned this off for the Release version. That was maybe not the best idea.

It should save the laps automatically to the local folder. In the Debug version I have a lot more trace and state information, but I turned this off for the Release version. That was maybe not the best idea.

There's no inconvenience here mate things just bug me when i can't get something to work and i don't no when to quit :) , I have run with admin rights no difference still no laps saving, See when the app is running is there anything we should do should we click on race recording in options?.

In monitor mode the racer position can run out of the window. This mode is in an early stage. For testing purpose you can try out the following:

A small track (Silverstone National)
Use Top View
No track zooming[

With this settings the racer should be always in the track window. All other participants should also visible on track.

Pock

just had a rune with trainer on xbox and as the other threads my tracks ae not being saved.

I ran it at 5 and 1 UDP and got the monitor working no problem with both just no saved lap

I did notice that the circuits detailed are the full versions and wondered whether running the short versions maybe an issue so ran a short track and full track but no laps where saved

How does the software know when to save a good lap- say you run 10 laps, all which are good, does it save 10 laps individually, only the fastest or 10 laps as 1 file?

In the <RaceLine> folder only laps should be stored. In your case the file desktop.ini is considered as lap and therefore you get this message in the logfile. Can you delete this file? Race Trainer doesn't need this file.

Normally I have had this effect when Race Trainer doesn't receive package type 1 & 2.This package types are sent seldom and if they get lost it can be a longer time to reach this package types again. I have posted my wish at UDP forum to send this package types more frequently.

Every clean racer lap is stored to local disk in a separate file.
In your case every 10 laps should be saved to disk.

I have deleted this file , The thing is all my laps were clean but none are getting saved i created a subfolder but still not saving my laps. Only thing i can think of why i'd get invalid laps is when i go to the pits crew chief always says my laps been invalidated i don't no if your apps is doing the same.

Once we are able to save the fast laps can we use any track to record or does it have to be the tracks that are already in the app ?

If you drive through the pits the lap will be no valid lap for Race Trainer, because you have to go through the start line and the lap is completed when you cross the finish line.

Only laps are saved if there exits a track map in Race Trainer. You can find the supported tracks in the track list.

It's not just the uploading, but laps are not actually being recorded and saved when using on console. Also the monitor function doesn't seem to work either.

As such the software is not much good for the console guys, but hope you can fix it

I know, currently there is a massive problem in storing the laps on local disk with UDP / consoles. I just want to point out with my last post that nobody on consoles have uploaded a fast lap up to now.

Same problem for me. I tried it last night and theres nothing in monitor mode either.

The only indication I get that the software is communicating with the game is that the throttle, brake and dash gauge work in race mode and my laps are 'live' on the screen with a trainer if I select one but it's the facility to have this available for analysis with previously saved laps that is this software's greatest capability if Pock can get it sorted.

I'd like to test your tool but it doesn't start at all. In File Explorer there is just the wait symbol.
In the console the process is spawned with no output at all. Using 0.4 MB of my memory with no cpu usage.

The main purpose of this release is to analyse why laps are not stored on local disc (with UDP streaming).

Download: Pock Race Trainer 2.0.2 - Link is no longer valid

The important thing first:
I have changed the UDP/Shared Memory usage in Race Trainer. At least in my tests the UDP connection is now much faster available than in the previous version.
Attention: side effects are not excluded. :)

Please have a look at your local folder <TackData\Raceline> if your laps are stored to disc.

Analysis tools:

Now there is more information written into the logfile (PockRackTrainerLog.txt). The requirements for storing a clean lap are written into the logfile.
Additional information can be displayed in the application (via Options | Watch):

Logfile
State Information

If the UDP connection is established there is also an additional UDP FPS display (top right). A consistent value is necessary that Race Trainer works well (eg: UDP Value 1 => 60 FPS)
With this release also invalid laps are stored on local disc. These laps have the extension <prt_invalid> and they are not considered in Race Trainer. However, if you change the ending of an invalid lap to <prt>, you have this lap also available in Race Trainer. (After restarting Race Trainer these laps are available)
Further reason: Maybe it is useful to analyse such invalid laps why they are not valid.

Note:
I have tested Race Trainer on a single PC and with an extra laptop connected via WLAN. On the single PC configuration everything worked perfectly. With an UDP value of 1 I have stable 60 FPS UDP.
With the Wi-Fi connection I had very different transfer rates in a range between 5 and 60 UDP-FPS. With such different UDP transfer rates Race Trainer does not works. Please observe the UDP value if he remains stable.

Here a screenshot with the additional information that is now available in Race Trainer:

I changed the implementation how I use <win32tools.dll>. On my laptop I still get no name and no car information, but my application does not freeze anymore on my laptop. Now I am looking why I don't get any strings out on my laptop. With PC I get the name and car information and therefore everything works fine on PC. I will report my progress tomorrow.

I renamed my files my name and the cars name but it never transferred over to the app .

A bugfix version is available.

Download: Pock Race Trainer 2.0.3 - the link is no longer valid

Changes:

Racer Laps are now stored to local disc
Racer Laps are available in Replay mode
Monitor mode is working
Invalid Laps are not saved anymore, it should not be longer necessary for analysis

I would like to thank especially ports, Hammerpgh, notanuva and inthebagbud for their valuable feedback and their invested time.
Without their help ist would take a much longer time to sort out the most important issues (not storable racer laps, freezing of the application)

Please let me know if the above mentioned issues are resolved. Thanks in advance.

I had a run out last night and had the freezing issue (but I did at least get something saved although it was only one very small INVALID_PRT file 1kb in size and when I renamed it I was able to select it in the trainer but when viewing it it went majorly slowly even in fast mode and I couldn't get it to play alongside a trainer lap. It also only seemed to be a 39 second lap. I ran a bunch of laps clean so not sure why only that one part lap was saved though.

Just noticed that you have a new version so i'll try that later.

Many thanks for your efforts in trying to get this working for us :)

Here's my trainer logifile n case it's any use:-

Same issue for me too, still no laps saved.

I can actually see cars on track in the monitor although many of the times are showing as the same time.

The track itself is a bit difficult to manipulate correctly for me and unless zoomed to it's smallest size I can't see the top as the scroll bars won't go high enough. With the zoom feature I can only use it at the very bottom and a couple of steps more as if I zoom much higher the track just disappears and I can't find it using the scroll bars.

Here's my logfile:-

Turning the partner option on/off while you are in a Race/Time Trial is currently a problem. I also get freeze screens in this case. Sometime it can help to finish the current lap and race a new lap. But this dosn't help very often.

The following workaround might help: Start Race Trainer first and do the settings you like before you start your PCARS race/time trial session.

It doesn't matter which 1 i use they all freeze after about 15 seconds , i have tried all of what you said Pock the speed / time just stop but monitor mode carries on running i'll click back on race as a new lap starts it un freezes then freezes within 15 seconds . I will give it another go but i think i have tried everything to keep it working.

Two important information:

Monitor Mode is still very new, Race and Replay Mode are much more mature

If you have a good network bandwidth please use UDP value 1, because I have implemented very strict criteria to get a high quality of the racing line. With higher UDP values the gap between two tracks position points can be too large. In that case the <continuous track distance> value will be false.

One thing I have noticed is that sometimes when exiting the program I get a little box pop up telling me it's exiting, other times I do not, it just closes. Any reason why that would happen? Does it indicate it's not closing properly and perhaps why laps are not saving?

Does it also freeze if you try it this way:

1. Start Pock Race Trainer
2. Choose <Race> mode and Track Silverstone National (my test track :))
3. No zooming
4. Choose <Top> option
3. Turn <Use Partner> option off
4. Start PCARS
5. Start Time Trial with Silverstond National (without ghost)
6. Do some Time Trial laps with a not to fast car.

If the App freeze again, the logfile would be interesting for me.

No, that's different things.

Close dialog: It depends on how fast Race Trainer can be closed.

Save a lap: A clean lap is stored as soon as the finish line is crossed.

Last night when i had laps save they all showed as invalid when only 1 of the laps was invalid maybe you're on to something .

At least on my system this is not the case. Here is the logfile from a PC testing session with UDP streaming. Lap 1 and lap 5 are invalid laps, but laps 2,3,4,6 are valid ones.
I will test this with my WIFI connected laptop too.

Do you see in your logfiles the different <Lap.IsValidLap> conditions? If no, then the check if the lap shall be saved is already <false> on your system.

Pock just done what you said and it worked i ran 2 laps G40 junior default setup it saved my lap :) I restarted the app and my lap was there also name of the car and my name.

Good news, the lap from your logfile is transferred to the FTP-Server, where I store the laps automatically. :D

Lap analysis across platforms (PS4, XBOX1, PC) will become reality.

Pock how do i add my log file so i can add it here without it being so long like yours up above .

Click on <Go Advanced>
Mark the text 'A short Test' and click on # (Wrap CODE)
If you format the marked text with a fixed font <Courier New> you can get the style like in my logfile.

Thank you , When i start putting some fast laps together do i need to send you them or can you just use them off your server .
I can take the laps from the server. For a wide variety of trainer laps I will use different Racer/Track/Car laps.

Here a screenshot from the laps that are stored yesterday/today:

My only wish is not to use the same car/track combination for several weeks. Apart form this, simply use the Race Trainer regularly.

One thing I have noticed is that sometimes when exiting the program I get a little box pop up telling me it's exiting, other times I do not, it just closes. Any reason why that would happen? ...

I noticed that as well Hammer for me i'd say 8 out 10 times it just shuts down without the pop up. ...

You are right, since version 2.0.3 the App doesn't close properly. This has no effect regarding saving laps. I will fix this with the next version.

Are you able to save laps on other tracks as well ports or just Silverstone National?

I will try my favorite car TS040 around this track and see what happens.

Hammer are you running UDP1 i always start the app by selecting run as admin i don't no if that makes a difference but worth a try.

Yep, i've been running UDP1 for the last few attempts. As for Admin no I just run it normal. I'll check to see how I run it as admin.. i'm running Windows 10 if that makes any difference.

Logfile from testing session:

Are you able to save laps on other tracks as well ports or just Silverstone National?
I have not tried yet i will today it got late last night got tired so stuck with silverstone .

Yep, i've been running UDP1 for the last few attempts. As for Admin no I just run it normal. I'll check to see how I run it as admin.. i'm running Windows 10 if that makes any difference.

Reason i asked about UDP is because yours is ending on 19....... mine is running between 58/60 and that makes a difference it could be your issue if you can't save a silverstone national using the Ginatta G40.

edit, Are you clicking on use partner so you get the red X also start the app before you start the track . You can check if its running after you've done 1 lap click on options go down to watch click on monitor logfile if theres lines of data running down the screen then its working.

UDP package type 1 & 2 are sent rather seldom by PCARS. That's the reason why I write this into the logfile.

From your logfile:
Stopped UDP Service - total:16295 received: 16292 accepted: 485 discarded: 5712 packets
Estimated UDP-FPS: 19.13947

For an UDP value 1 you get low UDP-FPS. It should be near 60. You have also a lot of discarded packages.

Have you great jumps of your UDP-FPS value while running Race Trainer?

I usually use UDP 5 for all the other apps \ programs for the game and everything seems fine with them.

My FPS in the upper left in the Trainer was showing around 30ish most of the time but was fluctuating quite a bit although it was difficult to keep an eye on it properly while trying to drive as my laptop is off to my right. I usually have pCars Dash, Crew Chief and vrHive running at the same time with no problem but i'll try your program on it's own just in case there is a problem caused by them in relation to Trainer.

Pock did you see this post from Tim man ,

Next patch has a couple of minor changes. Car class same as player can be found at bit 4 (8) of participant info .sSector. Joypad now uses 'Focus Device' rather than default joypad. You'll find 16 buttons in .sJoypad, 4 more in the top of .sDPad and another 4 in the top of .sCrashState. Sorry I can't use player mappings (It's all to do with different levels of abstraction), but that covers 24 buttons from whatever device. :)There was a minor issue with packet types 1/2 being sent very irregularly in slow UDP modes, this has now been changed :) Also it sends 1/2 at least every 10 seconds now. I'll update the first post when it goes live.

Yes, I'm looking forward to these changes!

Currently I am working on the issue that the application does not look like it has been frozen for some time.

To sort things out this is a very good idea. If it does not work with UDP 5 could you please test it with UDP 1. Maybe this can help.

I tried using udp 5 4 3 2 last night it works it logs the laps but it doesn't save the laps to raceline i only run pock on its own but it does work with crew chief not tried with vrhive.

If you choose a trainer before you start PCARS it should also work fine with a specific trainer. Changing the trainer options while PCARS is running is currently a problem. I will fix this for the next version.

I'll test it out how you said and i will let you know how i get on . I'm just happy that laps are recording i'm going to test a few tracks later and hope they record.

I just ran 3 laps it worked it didn't freeze on any of the laps only thing wrong is it only save 1 of the 3 laps. when i used silverstone last night it save them all.

Edit, It never saved my last lap which was the fastest 1.16.975.

Edit 2, i've just ran the same combo again but this time in quick race weekend not TT just to test and 30 seconds in it froze up and never saved the 2 laps i done.

Edit 2, i've just ran the same combo again but this time in quick race weekend not TT just to test and 30 seconds in it froze up and never saved the 2 laps i done.

From my side it is clear.

The lap with time 78.1062 is not saved because the condition ContinuousDistance = False.
The lap with time 77.72925 is saved because every condition is true.
The lap with time 76.975 is not in the logfile because the method ShallSaveCurrentRacerLap() in my App returns false.

This happens when the main criteria for a valid lap doesn't fit. In that case it makes no sense to analyse the lap if it is a valid one.

IMPORTANT:
This has nothing to do if you drive a clean lap. The data that my App gets from the PCARS UDP stream is not good enough to save the lap. That does not mean that PCARS send bad data. The reason is the underlying UDP technology. UDP is a fast, but unreliable transport protocol. Some packages can be lost.

Of course, I could open my strict conditions in validating a lap but this would lead us to buggy lap data. The base of my validation criteria is the Shared Memory implementation on PC, which is a more reliable technology.

I think I will write the detail error conditions into the logfile so that it is at least comprehensible by the interested user.

Laps that aren't on your local disk will not find the way to my server. :( I tried some other track with quick Race Weekend and get the app freeze too. Brno was on exception for me, but the other tracks I tested didn't work. This massive app freeze cannot be due to an unreliable communication. I have to look at the details of the UDP packages tomorrow. There is something very weird.

I think it was version 2.01 we couldn't get laps to save but the app never froze in any mode . Do you think that because its an offline mode that the connection to the app is getting disconnected ? when i've been playing career and then gone to my friends list it needs to connect again and re fresh to show the list .

Well, I thought I had this working a short while ago. Went home for lunch and grabbed the chance to get in a few TT laps at Silverstone National in the Ginetta G40, same as posrts seeing as that worked for him.

I could see my name appear in the timing box and this updated each lap except the last where it froze. The main info froze very quickly into the session still. When I quite the session, exited the Trainer and went to check the folder where laps are saved there was still nothing in there :( The UDP numbers were quite low, flickering around the 25-30 mark.

I then checked my settings and relaised I still had the UDP set for 5 so I lowered this to 1, started another session and went for it again. This time I could see the UDP figure much higher.. never below 60 and also going up into the 100's so was very hopeful. Got the start of the graphs on the screen and timing information and even the dash was working although did still freeze after a short while. Exited the session, closed Trainer and went to the directory and... NOTHING :sorrow:

Checking the logfile it has logged the first and second sessions together but only seems to have logged part of the second. The UDP figire in the logilfe for the first session seems way out as it never dipped that low even though I had it set at 5.

Here is the logfile info:-

I'll try again tonight when I have a bit more time. Really thought it was sorted when I saw the high UDP figure when using number 1.

Anything else I can try? Should I exit the session before exiting the Trainer or vice versa or does that not matter?

Hammer make sure you run pock before starting TT also click partner so it has the red X and next to the track click top . The app will only work properly in TT for me it freezes in single player etc . When the next patch drops this month it will make pocks life a lot easier packet 1 is going to be sent every 10 seconds after that it all should run smooth.

My main task for the next version is that the UI should never freeze. Of course, if a lap doesn't meet the criteria it will not be saved as valid lap, but the UI should give feedback every time to the user.

Maybe it's something to do with that although i'm confused as to why all the other apps work perfectly and I am able to stream things like movies without a problem. I did notice that you are on PS4 while I am on Xbox so whether that has any impact I am not sure.

Any clues from this what the problem might be? This is on a netbook btw and strangely I ran this concurrently on another laptop.. a more powerful and it was running much smoother on there and took a little longer to freeze and I could see my cars trace around the track until it froze.. but this is the logfile for that:

Start POCK Race Trainer: 12/01/2016 17:59:21

I was convinced it was going to work on the more powerful laptop. The UDP figure was higher and more consistent than the netbook. Very frustrating.

Is there a readme or a PDF file that tells how to load a lap into your app???

Hammer its kind of working for you except saving the lap file and where it says ContinuousDistance yours is false it should be true . Was this run in TT ? i've just upgraded to windows 10 so i hope it works for me.

Yep, TT. What does that line refer to? Each lap was 100% clean.

My laptop is on Windows 10 and that's the one where it hasn't worked at all unfortunately.

It's not only the ContinuousDistance condition.

Please look at the different RaceLine counters. This is an indicator how often a track position is sampled from one lap.
I am very happy with the RaceLine counters in ports logfiles. But Hammerpgh logfiles have really low RaceLine counters.

Here a summary of the Raceline counters of ports and Hammerpgh logfiles:

Currently there exists no readme how to load (recording) a lap.

You can view the introduction video (first post) or you try it with this very short instructions: How to record a lap with Race Trainer. (http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/showthread.php?36328-POCK-Race-Trainer-for-pCARS&p=1208640&viewfull=1#post1208640)
Keep in mind that currently exists some app freezing with Race Trainer. A good starting point would be Time Trial sessions at Silverstone National.

So what does that indicate... connection problem? I'll try to get another Xbox user to test it out to eliminate that as a possible cause as I don't think i've seen another Xbox user getting laps saved.

If it is a connection issue I guess I am screwed but it still confuses me why it's not apparent in the other programs I use. I would have expected to see similar issues in those too no? Plus would I not have issues with online racing if this were the case?

I'd say yes mate more than likely your connection is the problem or your connection is fine but your router could be blocking certain udp packets .

I don't know what's the indication of this. It's just an observation with the aim to find out the underlying issue. Do you have the chance to post a short video of a Time Trial session at Silverstone National? One lap would be enough to have a closer look at the behaviour of your system.

Are the brake/throttle, dashboard, telemetry data displayed in Race Trainer without delay?

An interesting fact from my test system:
With my laptop, I have tried out tests with 2 different WIFI connections:

1. Access via WIFI directly on the modem / router
2. Access via own WIFI Access Point.

With (1) I have very volatile UDP FPS values.
With (2) I get very stable FPS values.

You could try going in to your router and enabling DMZ mode also check that you have upnp enabled in the router as well worth a try .

Thanks but I already have those enabled, something I looked into when I had a couple of dosconnecs from races in F1 several years ago. However, i'll double check it to make sure that it hasn't changed for some reason.

Would having those incorrectly set not also have some effect the other programs that I currently run? vrHive, Crew Chief and pCars Dash?

This is proving so frustrating as I know that this tool would be really beneficial. I would happily look into changing internet provider if it weren't for the fact that everything else runs so well as it is.

I'll check those settings tonight as you suggested but if no luck then i'll just have to wait for the next patch and hope something there improves the situation. Seems I have got a little further each time recently but just can't get over that final hurdle. When I saw that trace of my car around the first halff the lap yesterday I thought that was it sorted. What was even odder was that my older and much slower netbook seems to be getting further than the new and far more powerful laptop although the laptop actually freezes later.

Hi Pock, i downloaded this today and tried it out...

Just some feedback - I didn't find the video tutorial very helpful. Is there any chance of getting a written tutorial with an explanation on what the different features are?

I am not getting any monitoring on the app - it says connected to pCars and I can see it is picking up myself and a TT ghost as the trainer but I don't see my track position or telemetry data - any ideas?

Shared data is working as is UDP with other apps.

Hi carbo, thanks for the feedback. I will write some <How-To-Use> documentation. Currently there exists some App freezes in Race Trainer, therefore I'm working on bugfixes. After this bugs are resolved I can spend some time for documentation.

in a nutshell:

With <Race> option you can analyse your lap while racing in PCARS. Clean laps will be saved.
With <Replay> option you can analyse your recorded laps.
With <Monitor> you can see all cars on the track and get some timing information.

During <Race> you can choose a so called Trainer (orange UI box). Such a Trainer can be a stored lap or an AI/Ghost/Multiplayer from PCARS.
During <Replay> you can choose a stored lap (orange UI box) for comparing your lap. In this option you can use a slow motion replay, rewind/fast forward, ...

Last but not least, during <Race> and <Replay> you can synchronize your lap with a stored Trainer lap either by time or distance.

Zooming, UI-customizing, Top/driving view are other features, that are available in Race Trainer.

Note:
You have already uploaded a lap at Zhuhai Circuit with Formula C. You can analyse this lap in <Replay> mode.

Latest edition of the saga.....

Went home for a quick lunchtime session as I wanted to do some testing of Force Feedback settings (the missus bought me a Thrustmaster TX as a surprise Christmas pressie ;) and i'm still working at getting the feel just how I want it). I use Brands Hatch and the Formulas C as my test bed so stuck with this but decided to try out the Trainer anyway so connected up the laptop to the router via ethernet and set off for a run of laps. The router is at the other end of the room from the Xbox so couldn't monitor the progress on screen.

Finished the session and after everything was switched off went over to the laptop and exited out of the Trainer.. had a quick gander at the RaceLine folder and........

BINGO!!!! Laps saved :tickled_pink: Couldn't believe my eyes.. danced around the room.. ok thats an exageration.. but only just lol. So happy to finally get some laps in the bag. I selected the last one and was able to watch that magical trace go around the first few turns but had to pull myself away to get back to work.

Here's the logfile from that session for comparison with my previous unsuccesful ones in case it proves useful in any other troubleshooting:-

Many thanks for the help in trying to get me up and running with this and especially to Ports :applause: for the ethernet suggestion which I am assuming was the key to getting it working today.

Sounds good to me Ports. Now the fun and learning should begin :) Mind you based on your G40 Silvertsone National times it'll be me doing all the learning lol

Here's my Ginetta lap Hammer it's running the default tune . I'm not tuning any cars until patch 8 drops and changes the tires again . Once you figure out decent ffb for your wheel your lap times will drop . I'm not the fastest of drivers but i'm not slow and you can never stop learning :).

Edit , i just opened the file i think you need to re name it so you can remove the the part that says copy and replace it with .prt
i'll see if i can get rid of the copy part. ignore this part i think it only says copy for me as i already have the file.
