Hi, I started a thread a few days ago about footwear with interesting results, so i'm starting one for handwear :)

I had a long stint at the wheel yesterday and my hands were a little sore, so I thought I would ask:

Do you wear gloves for Project Cars and if so which ones?

Cheers

Tony

My wheel has an alacantara coating. Which feels great. Until it soaks up the sweat from my hands and starts leaching out the glue holding it to the wheel, which leaves me with tacky hands after a session.

To get around this I bought a pair of cycling gloves. They were like $10 and are very thin so I can still feel the wheel properly and no more tackiness. Mine are "Comp Gloves" by Six-Six-One. Not being a cyclist, I have no idea what that means. But they do the job nicely.

I have to use gloves as you can see, apart from realism of wearing gloves racing, the black die from the suede on the madcatz wheel is quite bad,not a concern, what racing driver has immaculate gloves,213967

I wear a set of k1 gloves, like these ones (http://www.amazon.com/K1-Race-Gear-40083020-Driving/dp/B0041QVH5Q/ref=sr_searchpop_7_dp) but with slightly different stitching. Mine have seen heavy use, mostly from GT5, GT6, and now PCars. They lasted me almost 4 years, but now the leather pads on the palm are almost entirely worn off.

I'll definitely be getting another set of gloves, but I'm undecided on which yet. Wearing them made a *HUGE* difference on long racing sessions, especially when I started doing full length endurance races. Before I got the gloves I would regularly end up with blisters and callouses.

No racing gloves for me. I would lose the hold sensation on my XBox controller. Lol.

Though I have considered finding a thin pair of cotton gloves to wear on endurance races. Those hands sweat after 4 plus hours!

way too much detail xD

i dont use gloves, my computer starts heating up the local air warms up and eventually i start overheating, so extra warm localized air mixed with cold air from outside and its a mixture of moist warm air, gloves will only make things worse when the skin is unable to sweat properly because of the gloves. so no, dont use gloves, but when i got the thrustmaster wheel out, it needed a proper dusting off, and cleaning, by the time i got to using it the grip had started to disintergrate so that needed washing off, anyway, doesnt do that any more. besides i prefer a 100% certain grip on the steering wheel anyway.

^ You are talking about playing project cars aren't you 321Respawn? ;)

I dont wear gloves personally but I do keep a towel handy so I can wipe them when my palms get sweaty. And yes I am talking about playing project cars too.

I don't use gloves. Usually I race for about 2hrs a night and no sore hands as a result.

I've seen them under various brands. Thin and effective, you can even type badly in them.

I'm not using any gloves for sim racing but if I'm going to drive fast or on a track in real life I'm wearing some Nike golf gloves. Great fit, great grip and good ventilation. Besides that they look quite "cool".

I've just ordered some OMP karting gloves. Originally, I thought gloves were a bit OTT, but after prolonged sessions with a wheel I think they're an excellent idea.

Can the forums implement a "serious replies only" tag like reddit? Maybe I'm just grumpy, but between this and the boots thread all of the amateur comedians are getting really old and repetitive. I feel like if the forums didn't count people's posts we'd see a lot less of this junk:

That's not directed at you, just in general... the only reason I quoted the rest is because I *didn't* want you to feel like I was jumping out at you.

And yeah, like I said... I'm probably just grumpy. ;)

I use them for the same reason as a few others here, the suede wheel i have on my TX will leave your hands covered in it as you sweat, seems like all suede wheels do it.

Got to say though that i really like using them, it adds more than just grip, wicked fun

They're biking gloves from amazon, cost about 6 quid!

Bought some cheap skiing gloves at Aldi. Really good thin, rubber grip and that touch screen fabric.
Tried using actual race gloves before, way too thick and uncomfortable.
