Sennheiser's high end equipment is near perfect if you're into long gaming sessions. Unless you have a particularly large head, they are ultra comfortable and have a beautiful, laid back presentation that doesn't end up hurting your ears after hours of continual use.

Sound separation is so good you'd think you're listening to multi-channel and fidelity is just about as good as you can get.

I'd recommend open design rather than closed back, but that might cause problems as they leak noise so others in the room might not appreciate it.

Audio technica adg1? Or just any good headphone and attach a modmic or desk mic.

I use the Sony pulse elite. Great headset with a high quality mic. 7.1 surround sound. With multiple modes to change the sound quality.
Can be used on ps3, ps4, pc and your phone. Not sure about xbox though..

I use the Turtle Beach PX22. It's not too expensive and the sound quality is excellent. I have also tested it for nearly 8 hours straight and I felt no real after affects.

Although, if you plan to use it on the Xbox One, you'll have to buy the Kinect adaptor just to be able to use it. Blame Microsoft for that. Then again, I did have to buy the PS4 adaptor just so I could use the in-line amp.
