Just did a 1:32,8 on Zhuhai with the stock setup.
Lets see how much l can squeeze out of the car with a few tweaks :D

Stock setup!!!????? Oh my god, here comes the humiliation LOL

So, here are my times so far:

Oulton / Escort: 1:57,863

Hockenheim / BMW: 1:55,791

Zhuhai / Group 5: 1:32,455

Le Mans / LMP900: 3:27,560

Ok, now i'm gonna cry :frown-new:

I think you did a 1:32 around Zhuhai too, thats awesome :)
But l'm really wondering where you went in Le Mans being so much off the pace
Did you run stock maybe? And what was your topspeed on Mulsanne? :)

Diesel98

I'm having the same problem at Le Mans Pink, can't get below a 3:33 at the moment with stock setup and I'm hitting 185mph max on the Mulsanne :(

Not quite sure what 185mph are D:
Well, No.1 rules on Le Mans (for me at least) are to minimize the downforce, to stiffen the suspension and to reduce camber on all 4 wheels.
And then go from there :)

Diesel98
10-09-2015, 01:08
185 mph = 297 kmh
Thanks for the tips Pink, appreciate it :D

Pink_650S
10-09-2015, 01:08
185mph are so slooooow, how did you do that? :D

Here are my topspeeds after a long test with all 3 LMP900 cars. (Yes 3, will add the BMW to the allowed cars :))

BMW V12 LMR: 346 kmh / 215 mph
Bentley Speed8: 331 kmh / 206 mph
Audi R8 LMP900: 322 kmh / 200 mph

Diesel98
10-09-2015, 01:13
Wow, didn't realise just how slow I was going
The stock setups on the R8/Speed 8 both max out at around 300kmh, lowering the wings for a start only gained 5kmh for me :(

I did that time in Zhuhai with my setup, not stock. You're a hell of a driver!!! In Le Mans i used Audi with 0 downforce, soft slicks and maxed the gears to top speed. I think my top speed is about 310...i guess. I'll try what you adviced and some more laps.

I did raise the gears so 6th was maxed on the R8, but it didn't make a huge difference for me with 5/5 wings as well, surely there should be some kind of speed gain even with default Final Drive?

When i have problems like tyres overheating, i decrease tyre pressure a little bit. I use it a lot in Ruf RGT8 GT3, I always destroy Ruf's tyres!!!

Iv tried all that man and it makes no difference..its not overheating as there still green when it begins to happen the problem seems to be having full wets in these conditions...you need rain instead of light rain and with no intermediate tyres its a balls

Yea, l'm having the same problem. I think thats because that class only has full wet tires. Again, very nicely thought through by the designers of this game.
Guess l'll make it a dry race then. More info tomorrow :)

I understand your suffering! Car setup is a whole science.
I also kind of stopped using those ready-made setups from http://projectcarssetups.eu
Sometimes you do find good ones, but most of the time I see myself resetting everything and applying my own tweaks.

With regards to suspension, I'm having good results with Jussi's calculator: http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/showthread.php?32940-A-new-home-for-all-your-setups&p=1033985&viewfull=1#post1033985
Takes a while to understand the concepts, but I kind of like the results. The tricky part is to get the initial spring rate right so you can calculate the dampers...

After reading the times you can produce Pink, you're superhuman. I haven't tested at Le Mans yet but i did Zhuhai & managed a 1.36 with a very unstable car.
and around Oulton Park i managed a 2.04 in the bitch of a car that is the Escort. I just need to change the set ups and get used to the tracks. Think i will be alright.

are there any rules regarding the driving/braking line?

Yeah I completely abandoned using that setup database after trying one of the setups for Nordschleife last month - it was absolutely terrible & pretty much the exact opposite of the setup I ended up getting pole with. Problem is that anyone can just post a setup & driving styles are so personal it's always going to be difficult to find something you're comfortable with.

I've toyed with using that suspension calculator, but as much as I enjoy trying to find a good setup, I think if I was to start using calculators & spreadsheets it'd start to feel too much like work :p.

Hockenheim / BMW: 1:55,791

Zhuhai / Group 5: 1:32,455

Yeah I've got no chance in the Escort then :(. Don't like the car or the track, so putting them together is like the perfect storm for me haha.

Interesting to hear people struggling with tires in the rain at Hockenheim - I've only done 2/3 laps, & only using the default setup, but the tyres were a little on the cold side if anything & they didn't lose grip. Setup related problems?

I did, but I've tried all three again today with the setup changes you recommened and top speed wise...
Audi: 195mph/313kmh
Bentley: 200mph/321kmh
BMW: 205mph/329kmh

I've managed to get down to a 3:30 so far with these changes, still room for improvement I feel, but at least I'm heading in the right direction now thanks to the tips :D

And yes, Chig and l created a rule sheet, have a read Click! (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1LRJgtx_3OyyK4Gevsl13shOV_MzcKCECw6vP8bQaohU/edit) (Its also in the first post, where everything you need to now is written down ;))

In my opinion the Zhuhai track is all about good brakes and good traction, so l went into tuning with that in mind.
Now my car has great braking potential and acceptable traction.
The only thing l still need to nail now are the braking points. l have already found some markers on the side of the road for some hairpins, but there are also a few trickier ones.

Perhaps it would be better if the rule sheet was copied & posted somewhere else (not sure where) to stop that from happening?

Right, gonna keep practicing (still need to look at 2nd race car), but I may not be able to take part in this Sundays race, I'm gutted was really looking forward to doing some proper racing.

I just altered my gearing, aero, tire pressures and stiffened my springs, my first lap was 3.36.5 but the car understeers and my braking is well off. Need to adjust my springs Bumps and rebounds. I think I can be atleast 3.32 consistently. My top speed was 203Mph.

My car do 3.32 consistent. 3.31 i was in my personal limit, not in car limit i guess. I didn't messed up a lot with suspension, only stiffened my springs a bit and downgraded the cambers. Try to put both differencial settings very high to maximze braking and traction potential.

Will try... I don't go along with turbo cars. In this circuit there are some sharp turns. Using 2nd gear is too slow out of the corner. Engaging 1st gear gives me acceleration out, but is too easy to spin the car.
Funny thing is that I love driving the Lotus 98T, but this Group 5 is simply.... hard.... and don't have a favorite yet, BMW or Ford.

Anyway, thx for all tips!

Thx Pink! But you had 1:32 on default, I don't want to see your times with a tuned car. I'm already expecting 1:29 from you!

Good evening and.... again..... thx for the tips!

Just be really gentle with the throttle in the tight turns and gradually build it up to full as you straighten out on exit so you won't spin out :)

Managed a 3:35 in BMW on 24hrs, stiffened spring, took df to 0 front n 2 rear played with gears, got a speed of 208mph down straight so I'm going somewhere.

Got a 1:35 on Zhuhai in BMW messed with settings again, gonna have a go with Capri again.

My best so far is 1:49.705, which I set pretty early in practice and wasn't able to match no matter how many times I would lap. :p But I still need to learn the track more and start the process of fine tuning my setup. :) It's gonna be an immersive race in the sunset I can tell. :)

My best flying lap was 1.32.8, i did that yesterday. Watching your videos, i can say that i used less amout of fuel to do it. And, sometimes you use 1st gear in some curves but i use 2nd gear.

Yes, turbo maxed out. I guess my console is slower than yours :p
Perhaps I can break a bit later in some corners, but still hard to get 2s down. I bet is more out of corners where I lose speed.
Well, I managed a setup to have a consistent 1:34, so I will go with it. Not to fight for the front, but hopefully can put me in the 2nd group!

Just did some tests for Le Mans, really don't know which car to take, but tending to the BMW. Audi has excellent handling, Bentley same engine but both lose fair and square on top speed. Need to check acceleration to see if it pays off...

I will undoubtedly be uncompetitive. I've not had any experience with Zhuhai. I see PureMalt77 uses a wheel, I know I could cut my time down a few seconds with more practice but with a wheel, I'd already be that quick. My G27 is not and never will be compatible with the PS4, unfortunately. I will try my best nonetheless.

Yeah, thx!

And to everyone, although it might be obvious...

1. Qualifying: give space to the opponent in front of you, remember that he might be slower than you, but also in a hot lap. For the ones NOT in a hot lap, watch your mirrors and the HUD with the map and give space by driving somewhere outside the ideal line.

2. Race: don't use the opponent to help brake your car! On a side-by-side situation, try to either make the turn together or give up and try later. You will not win the race in the 1st corner. And please, very special at Le Mans. Start with cold tires/brakes, watch out for the first 2 corners. Over here pushing someone out is practically a total ruin...

Tip for the ones like me also using a keyboard: I've mapped my D-Pad left-right-bottom for left-right-back view, so I can watch quickly who's on my side.

Good luck everyone!!! Race fast and clean!

Well 1st race, no matter what I did, I couldn't get the brakes to work and were inconsistent.

Rage quit Le Mans. Kept getting caught in others accidents and ended up 13th. I was catching the pack, but got a cut track at the 1st of the last 2 chicanes then 10 seconds later my car just randomly spun. Also got a BS cut track at the exit of the 1st chicane on the straight, no idea how. Le Mans in the worst track to race on in this game with cut tracks and twitchy pad users

From places 7th to 13th for the first 4 laps was enjoyable, like you said Rob, lots of numbing and spinning and it caught others out. The 5 second speed penalty is a bitch, I hit someone after Indianapolis and couldn't pull out after that because of the leading pack. Good race though guys. Thanks.

1st race, was good for my pace, I believe with more focus I could have landed in 4 or 5. What caught me as a big surprise (my entire fault of course) were the light conditions! Caught me as a big surprise, need to pay attention next time!

2nd race, well, on that one I hate myself. I could have been 3th or 4th I believe weren't some stupid mistakes, also got 3 or 4 cut-track penalties, so started to take real care. On my side I had one incident, hopefully damage isn't on: were behind 2 guys, which had a problem after some corner, and I came behind with real speed, tried flashing lights, but no go, and went between them. There was a touch from one of them...

Otherwise, from my analysis, was at least quite clean and competitive today, for the races around my lap times!

@Pink: will post the results later or tomorrow OK? I show up as retired in the 1st race, but I indeed finished it, can send you the screenshots. Meanwhile the race was in the count-down, I wanted to save the screenshots, and quit to the pit-box, did not know this puts me in retired, even after I crossed the finish line...

Great racing everyone, that was really intense! :) Very sorry to hear the game decides to ruin things for some again though. :( Argh! :/

In the first race I didn't do so great, not much to say. :p Somehow on Le Mans though I was largely able to avoid the critical mistakes and finished 8th. I had so many battles and highlights with so many drivers! :D It'd be too much to describe them all so maybe I will post a video instead. :) It was really intense and fun the whole way through, and you all raced as fair as can be I think. :) Thanks everyone. :)

I'm not sure what happened on the last corner of the last lap though. I got a cut track penalty after sort of being forced to doing so by Linnuke as he was attempting an overtake on the outside. Then Linnuke immediately ran into the wall. Was it on purpose to let me pass? I don't know. If you're reading this Linnuke you probably deserved to be ahead of me anyway though. :p I wasn't good enough coming in. I don't blame you for the overtake menouver.

No worries Chig. :) I thought you raced quite fairly. :)

Also forgot to say, congrats to the winners! :) And honorable mention to Pink for finishing second twice and first in qualifying twice. :)

Very lonely races for me for the most part. I started well in Race 1 but didn't have the pace to stay with the leaders and dropped quickly to around 11th. Faster guys spun off ahead and then repassed me again. I made a lot of small mistakes, especially as the sun was setting but I managed a respectable 9th (I think).
Race 2, I was on the outside of the first kink in to first chicane and took the slightest of bumps, sending me in to the gravel. It didn't really matter as I made far too many mistakes and was far too slow. The qualifying session was my first drive of the Bentley.

Evening everyone, hope you all had as much fun as I did! :D

Zhuhai: What a Race! For 15 laps, Me and Pink jostled for the lead, never more than 1 second apart with a few lead changes. I passed her on Lap 2 at T1 after she ran wide entering the straight, she re-passed a few laps later with a good move down the inside at the hairpin, I then got her back around Lap 9/10 with a sweet cutback up the inside at T1, only for her to re-pass a couple of laps with a good pass again at T1. In between the lead changes, we were all over each others back bumpers, looking for any way through, both of us driving at 110% to stay in front. Entering the last lap, she ran a tiny bit wide and I got alongside her on the straight, we both late braked into T1, I squeezed up the inside and just had enough momentum to edge in front on exit, I had to defend hard for the rest of the lap as she looked for any opportunity to get back past, but I just managed to hold her challenge off for the win! :D Thanks Pink for that epic race, that was really fantastic racing. ;)

Le Mans: Qualified P3. A bad start saw me drop down to P7 by T1. I was part of a large group for that lap, all of us bunched together closely down the Mulsanne, really good stuff. I moved up to P6 after two cars ran wide at T1 and set about closing on Grijo and PureMalt. I caught them at the end of Lap 2 at the final chicane where PureMalt slightly cut the track and Grijo hit him due to it, I nipped through to take P4. I aimed now to close down Matungwa in a good P3 5 seconds up the road. I took me two laps to catch up to him and I passed him at the Start/Finish where he unfortunately got a cut-track, sorry to hear your game errored mate, you were doing well. I had no chance of catching Linny/Pink as they were 20 seconds up the road by then, so I took a solid P3.

Congrats to Linny on the win at Le Mans and also everyone for the good racing, especially the newcomers today, you all gave yourself a good account out there ;)

Race Reviews!

In the quali to the Zhuhai race l was able to do my best lap ever with these cars on that track, was very surprised.
And during the race l had a 15 lap battle with Diesel  Everything went very fair and clean, we exchanged positions quite a few times, until he made a great move on me in the first corner of the last lap. He was very late on the brakes, but somehow managed to get the corner still! $@%&§...!! Thanks for the great race and congrats! :)
Also would like to point out Chig in Race 1, very nice 3rd place! Did you practice secretely? :p

Race 2 was quite good as well, Matungwa got me on the first lap, but l was able to get the first position back eventually.
On Lap 2 my mistakes started to happen. Would randomly lose the car in the Porsche Curves and my usual braking point at the end of Mulsanne suddenly wasnt enough anymore :( Also kind of miscalculated the time of day, wanted it to become dark after lap 4 or 5, but it didnt happen...
Linny did very well! He made almost no mistake and deserved that win, great work! :)

Overall a nice Sunday evening. Thanks guys! :D

Also would like to point out Chig in Race 1, very nice 3rd place! Did you practice secretely? :p

Haha no, I wish I had - maybe my pace at Le Mans would've been a bit more acceptable :).

Tried my best to keep up with you & diesel in your great battle - managed to stay about 5 seconds behind until the halfway point & I could see you guys swapping positions regularly:). But then the dark came & I was having to follow the track map to find out where I was going, so had no chance to catch up. Really pleased & surprised with 3rd though - the group 5 cars are fun to drive :).

Regarding your video of the cut-track penalty, it definitely looks familiar - I seem to get 3/4 of these every week & they totally suck. One of the worst bugs in the game IMO. I'm not looking forward to the 15 penalties I get tomorrow in that terrible Escort at the even-worse Oulton Park :(.

I've done 10 laps of practice in the Escort tonight & I've completely given up :(. Managed one 1:59.8, but that's literally the only time I've been under 2 minutes. Every other lap was between 2:01.0 & 2:03.0. I'm planning on just cruising round & picking up as many points as I can.

Just a heads up to everyone for tomorrow - the cut-track penalties at Hockenheim are VERY harsh. I did the Online Gaming League GT3 race there last month & people were just getting them all over the place I'm afraid :(. Try to stay off those kerbs at the 1st corner!

In the first race i've started in 5th place. First curve, an accident between other racers, and a "oh my god!"...i was in 12nd. I really don't know how i got 5th place back. In second race happened almost the same thing. Man, that was really fun! In my opinion, the minor amount of incidents was just honest errors, you know. An excellent group of racers! Sorry again Puremalt and thanks for your words. By the way, THANKS TO YOU ALL FOR THIS GREAT SUNDAY!!!

Yep, it also shows the spirit of the group, when we can tell what were honest mistakes and which were avoidable :)
And also apologizing like Mantu for an incident, very exemplary :)

Someone hit me in the rear just before the first chicane at Lemans. It was mid breaking zone and a not as hefty as you'd think but I got knocked wide and they took the corner fine. On the exit they pulled over and let me by. A lot of time for that, thanks. Thanks all for a good race, grijo (I think) who I battled with for about 2 laps at lemans. Great race. Same time next week?

Very lonely races for me for the most part. I started well in Race 1 but didn't have the pace to stay with the leaders and dropped quickly to around 11th. Faster guys spun off ahead and then repassed me again. I made a lot of small mistakes, especially as the sun was setting but I managed a respectable 9th (I think).
Race 2, I was on the outside of the first kink in to first chicane and took the slightest of bumps, sending me in to the gravel. It didn't really matter as I made far too many mistakes and was far too slow. The qualifying session was my first drive of the Bentley.

Had a lot of fun.

The guy who spin was me. I have locked the brakes at the last corner where its the more easier to take lol. By the way good battle with you, you race clean and intelligent and your brakings very good. Zhuai race was catastrophic for me, pushed at the start that spin off me, then collision and big mistake. Wanted to fight with pink and diesel lol. Le mans race was good thanks pink's mistakes because you was fast and don't understand why mantugwa let me passed. See you next week

1st off I wanna say thanks for letting me join the group, had good fun tonight, looks like I'm gonna spend more time online in cars than on cod :)

1st race, for some reason couldn't get below 1:35 for qualify I know still 4 seconds off everyone else pace, caused a bit of an incident in 1st corner of race, ran into back of linuck? Sorry about that was watching a car on my outside and didn't realise we wad at the corner, think I held back till it sorted itself out, had a good race but slower than most battled to 9th/10th place then spun half way through race :(.

2nd race again couldn't get a good qualifying lap, then race was just a bit allover, had a battle mid to rear of pack with mufc rob but ended up losing through dubious cut track warnings:(.

Hope I didn't upset anyone's race or anything, like I said enjoyed a good nights racing and I can only get better, looking forward to next weekend now.

Cheers Dave

!!! Important !!!

For all of you having crashes during the game, this is my piece of advice:

Restart your console before the online race. I close the game, do a shutdown (not rest mode), start it fresh and re-load the game.
Only after the game is open I accept the invitation.

Might be just luck, but since I do that, I never experienced crashes. I usually had them when the game was open for hours, as in some form of memory leak which causes the disruption.

What are your lap times delta? Have you done much practice for Hockenheim? I've not had much chance, but I quite like the track so I'm hoping that will see me through.

You certainly do need to be a complete driver! I count myself as someone who can be very consistent, but maybe lacking in a bit of one-lap pace. I try to just be there to pick up the best result possible (dare I say it.... a little bit like a mini-Alonso? haha I wish ;)).

I think it's the fact I've been so consistent that's got me a good number of podiums & 3rd place in the last two championships. I think 3rd is quite a good result considering I haven't even managed to win a race yet! :(.

I drove 3 races in another championship recently and finished 1st, 1st, 2nd (and I really should have won that TBH), so it just shows the very high level of driving in this league :).

To all: Dont try any funny or risky moves at the hairpin on Hockenheim.
Know that this corner is driven from the very outside at the entrance to the inside at the apex, so dont go for gaps that dont exist.
Any rude maneuvers will be punished without discussion.

Hermann Tilke has to shoulder a proportion of blame for why F1 is so dull. His soulless approach to track design fails to satisfy spectators.
Imo T8 at Turkey is the only thing he ever got right.

Sticking pins in my eyes is more fun than driving the Escort.
Trundling round 20+ secs behind everyone and no chance of catching up = Bored
There were a few instances that lost me 10 seconds the rest my own doing but seriously, this car is @x#%

Great racing everyone. :) Very sorry for the incident on the first lap on Oulton Park. :(

I'd do a race report, but I encountered so many bugs I might as well just list them instead.

- once again, I didn't get the livery I asked for at Oulton Park.
- setup didn't load for Hockenheim, so I was stuck with the default. Which sucked.
- for the 3rd race in a row, I get a good start & then the car just stops dead for a split second. Causes problems for everyone behind me & causes me to lose a load of places.
- the tires are stone cold during the daytime & then suddenly heat up when it gets dark? Exact opposite of how it should be.
- multiple cut-track penalties as usual. I noticed everyone running wide onto the run-off area in the first corner at Hockenheim, so I figured I'd try to do the same & carry a bit more speed through there. 5 second penalty straight away.
- it's simply impossible to see anyone else in the dark unless you drive permanently pressing the look back button. Headlights are invisible in the rear-view mirror no matter how close someone is.

I'm so f**king sick of this game at the moment TBH. I might cool off during the week, but I if not I might sit next week out.

This week just wasn't fun :(.

Congrats to the winners etc.

I just made up the numbers, I'm afraid. I didn't have any time to practice but I'll be quicker next week, if you still need me Pink. Also, I got lapped in Race 1 so I hope I pulled off to the side of the road appropriately. The top 4 were only separated by about 5 seconds!

In Race 2, on the second or third lap (not entirely sure) I got a dubious cut-track (I understeered out of turn 3, jumping the exit curb and losing a ton of speed) which took me by surprise and left me stranded in the middle of the track. Somebody flew by just after the penalty kicked in, presumably avoiding my suddenly slowing car.

I believe you can find the right side of my face somewhere on the second straight at Hockenheim GP :p

Hey all, time for my race reviews :)

Oulton: Started P5. A good start got me P4, but Pink repassed me and I dropped to P5. I moved up to P3 a couple of laps later after Fastback made an error at the final corner. Zunge and Pink were battling for the lead a second in front of me when Zunge tried an optimistic move just before the hairpin, leaving them both drifting back across the track, leaving me with nowhere to go and I spun into the gravel. I rejoined P4 behind Linnuke and in front of Fastback. Fastback attempted a brave move on the outside of the chicane and pulled it off, but going to the inside part I made very slight contact on his rear, which was enough to glue us together and take us both off, I could have joined ahead, but I let him have the place back as the incident was my fault. After this, I feel as if the car's behavior changed, as it seemed as if their was less grip than before, maybe due to going off and it became incredibly twitchy, so I couldn't catch the first four. I nearly lost P6 to Matungwa after spinning going up the hill, but he unluckily for him he spun the next lap, so I held P5 at the end.

Hockenheim: Qualified P6. A good start got me past Pink again for P5 and became P4 after Fastback spun at the hairpin, which then became P3 after Pidgey had a moment towards the end of the lap. I was right behind Drushan with Pidgey closing on both of us and us three ran close for a couple of laps. Drushan clearly felt I was a threat so he ordered teammate Pidgey to try and take me out at T2 so he could pull away, which worked and he got away (I know it was an accident really Pidgey, it's fine ;)). Me and him battled for a few corners until he spun out, leaving me in a world of my own in P3 until the finish, a good result. :)

Congrats to my Teammate Linnuke on the win at Oulton, how you kept Pink and Fastback behind was brilliant :D. Congrats Zunge for the dominant win at Hockenheim and everyone else for the good, clean racing as always :D

He he, I started at the back of the pack and had a poor start which meant I could VERY narrowly avoid that incident. I presume you're referring to the incident in between turns 1 and 2. My pace was not there, however :(

The incident in the first chicane. I missed the braking point and tried to get out of the way and failed, that was just bad. Sorry guys. :(

Despite all that I really had a lot of fun. :) I think my practice has been helping my overall pace. :) I just got to put the consistency and pace together, along with more experience at overtaking. All easier said than done. :p But thanks to Pink's hard work and to all of you for fair competitive driving this championship has made the process of becoming better as fun as it could possibly be. :) At least as fun as it could be given it's Project Cars, a very fun game with some issues.

So, l had 2 very enjoyable races, however, l wasnt very pleased with my own performance tonight.

Really loved the Escort around Oulton, its a very nice race car in my eyes.
Had a slow start as expected - due to my gearbox adjustment - so l lost 4 positions and dropped from 1st to 5th.
Very clean racing from everyone during the starting phase in both races from what l can tell.
Had a very nice battle for 1st with Zunge, got him before the second long left-hander, but he didnt give up, touched my rear and l went wide, Zunge slowed down which caused Diesel to spin. :( Very unfortunate.
After this incident, l was able to pull away from Linnuke who was in 2nd, but in Lap 7 or 8 l lost the rear before the first left-hander and dropped into 2nd.
From then on it was an epic race between mostly Linnuke and me, Fastback joined the festivities in Lap 13.
l have to say Linnuke did a great job under pressure and made no mistake. In the penultimate lap l hit the inside tyre stack of the first chicane, which dropped me into 3rd :(
Big congrats to Linnuke and his first ever victory! Well done :)

Already knew that l wouldnt be as fast in the second race, really dislike Hockenheim.
Was happy with the 5th qualifying position and had a good start into the race.
In lap 2 however l missed the apex of T1 and got a penalty for going too wide, which cost me 6 or 7 positions.
Had great battles with Delta, Mantu and BVB, thanks for that :)
To my surprise my car started to shine when the sun stopped shining :p It produced a lot more grip as it became dark, which allowed me to battle for 4th with Pidgey.
Very clean and intense battle over 7 or 8 laps. Couldnt find a good spot to make a move on him, dammit!

Good racing everyone, l had a lot of fun again. :)

Good racing today!

1st race was like a dream, I started 9th and won ;) I managed to avoid bigger mistakes and everybody else had some little trouble. Pink was putting me under pressure almost half the race, bumper to bumper many laps. I was sure she will make her move on the last lap but unfortunately she lost it in the chicane on penultimate lap. It was my lucky race I guess

2nd race had so many action in mid-field, I was enjoying every moment. Someone even rolled over, what was going on there?! My performance wasn't very good- had few penalties and one bigger spin. Lol, fastback had so fast car that on the straights when he was behind me I got blue flag :D

Thanks for the nice evening :)

I'll do a short race summary. :) The first race I qualified 8th I believe, got to an okay start but was late on the braking point into the first chicane, going wide and hitting the barrier causing some to hit the rear of my car. :( I dropped down to 12th place shortly thereafter. I fought my way back up to 9th and had a nice battle with Drushan for 8th. :) Until I got a 5 second cutting the track penalty that was little harsh imo as I was attempting to overtake him. So I dropped back again but eventually fought my way back up to 8th. I briefly passed Matungwa for 7th but he made a nice overtake on me in the final lap and I finished 8th.

Next race I qualified 9th and got off to an okay start. Eventually I worked up to 7th and was really gaining Mantu for 6th before I unexpectedly spun out as I was exiting the first corner which really cost me some time and I dropped to 9th or 10th. I made my way back up to 8th before making mistakes attempting overtakes and with some additional sloppiness I dropped to 10th and finished. :p

Thanks again for the great races everyone. :)

I was just looking at the next races when I spied in the rules to respect other people and drivers. Not that I wasn't doing that or anything but I did realise that I've not been complimenting other drivers and to that, I shall remedy.

I was never sceptical approaching this championship but I had some issues with my internet connection (in that, I mostly had none) and controller issues (which I fixed when I had no internet) which meant that I was unable to begin at the start of September. Pink showed much patience with me whist I got my s#!@ sorted (thanks Pink, and sorry again) and I was able to compete (sic) on Sunday. I also chipped in on Monday but I'd rather forget about that one.

However, I've gone entirely off track. All I really wanted (or needed, sorry) to say was that everybody that I've seen and raced with has done an excellent job. It's as clean as I could expect and there's a good mix of skill for everybody to have their own little battles. Thank you all for the fun so far and I look forward to improving and passing you all soon :p

A special thanks to Pink again for your patience and hard work in setting up the championships and forums.

Thanks all, see you on the track :D

Hey everyone. The mk1 was a tough one tonight to start was outside the top ten in qualifying couldnt get close to pinks time seriously good. Had a slow start and got into a spin after T1 after someone ran wide and came back on slowly got up to P7 after a few battles but a spin at the last corner dropped me back to P9 really struggled with the escort. Well done linnuke tough race.

Race 2. Qualified P2 for the second race put in a good lap only to see zunge about 7 tenths ahead no way I could match that. Had a better start but went wide into T2 and pidgey got me down the straight before he spun himself had P2 until the end but had a great battle between diesel and pidgey the opening laps. Watching the replay 4 laps all three of us doing the same laptimes really close stuff.
Good win zunge could never catch you.
Driver's and teams championship is so close all to play for next week.

Oh wow. Super races.
First race I was surprised to be so far in front. After the first few laps with some errors I could go my pace. Good fight Diesel. I came out of the first chicane better out than you and I used my chance. Also have space for you left in the second chicane. But I could not see you. :hopelessness: Hope it was all good. Then drove to the rear of piink and linnuke. But had no chance to overtake. Then piink made a small mistake and I managed the 2nd place.

The second race was not so good then. Super qualifications. Perfect start. But then I took the hairpin too tight. And turned by slight impact. But no problem. From the 3rd to 14th place Then I reached No. 7 or 8 again before Funky little over-motivated at the first corner overtook. But its ok. Then I was back in 14th place after many good fights I managed still place 7. I should have overtaken someone unfairly I apologize.

Congratulations to the winners and all the others. Very fair race. Thank you
I am very satisfied.

Well first timer here, must say I'm impressed with the pace. Fast AND clean drivers, which I thought was a rare combination in pcars.

After no more than a few laps practice and default setups I was really struggling with the escort. Bottomed out twice and had a quite lonely race. Hockenheim however was a nice race. Had some good battles between P14 and P8. Someone then hit my inner side in the first turn, which gave me a penalty. I guess he couldn't see me so its okay.
Really enjoying these battles when out of the blue "an error has occurred". :( :(

Anyway thanks for some good racing.

@NiQo: So, what do you think? Would you like to join as a regular driver for the Monday races? :)

Yes please ;)

Edit: Must say that I'm not used to such a full grid. As a first timer I didn't want to cause any collisions which sometimes made me brake very early, sometimes causing trouble for racers behind me. Sorry for that, next time I'll be a lil more aggressive ;)

I'm away in October unfortunatelly, can join November races when I'm back!

Wishes:
I would like to race some openwheel. F. Rookie is not so hard and nice for close competition including new drivers (maybe this is why they call it rookie!)
For hard-core I would love having the Lotus 98T is some event, I vote for Spa!

Formulas: max the C. I think B and A are really for "pros", very easy to destroy peoples races with these cars!

Tracks: Sonoma, Road America, Spa, Imola, Sakitto, Brno...

Trust me when l say that NO Open Wheel class in Project Cars is good for close racing :p The collision detection is just sooo bad.

I trust you! Already did F. Rookie and FC with other groups and was OK, but really depends on the drivers. I agree that they don't give much margin for mistakes, this is why I offered the Rookie, as is easier to handle and not so fast...

Just remembered another "beast car" I enjoy to drive: McLaren P1!

I like Bathurst, but it needs to go along with a kind of forgiving car. I raced an event while ago which had a massive carambolage in the sequence going downhill! Only takes 1 to spin out and the track is blocked :)

A few suggestions for you guys to race next month:

- Gumpert Apollo at Silverstone GP
- Mercedes C-Coupe DTM at Brands Hatch
- Caper Monterey Stockcar at Oschersleben
- Ford Focus RS at Monaco
- GT4 at Le Circuit Bugatti

Not sure if it's even possible in multiplayer because I've never tried it, but what about doing a special event at a point-to-point track? California Highway can be a lot of fun in the right car. Not a fan of Azure Coast though TBH.

I think racing Road A cars could be fun, specifically the Mclaren P1 and Pagani Huayra. :) Not sure what track though, maybe Donington GP.

PS: Please don't go Chig, you're a great racer and you've been a valuable member of this championship, I'd hate to see you go. Maybe your luck will turn around and when the game works the racing is fantastic after all, I don't think you could find any better anywhere else. :)

Thanks Delta.

It's nothing to do with my results (although I definitely haven't been happy with my driving recently - it's been sloppy & wild at points :(), it's entirely to do with the bugs etc. It's just frustrating to never be able to get a bug-free race, especially when it's big problems like not being given my custom setup or stupid cut-track penalties.

I agree - I definitely couldn't find better racing elsewhere. I've competed in other leagues & so far it hasn't been as good as this one. If I am going to carry on in a league it will definitely be here - just thinking I might benefit from a little break.

But let's wait & see, I might fall in love with the GT1X cars (haven't even tried them since the game came out) - in that case I won't be able to drag myself away haha :).

Thanks for the many suggestions :) Caper at Oschersleben though? :D whats up with that?

Here are the races l've come up with so far:

Ford Sierra - Watkins Short
Ruf RGT-8 Road - Monza GP
Ruf CTR-3 Road - Monza GP
GT1 - Le Mans 24h
Sauber C9 - Brno
Formula Gulf - Ruapuna GP
AM Vantage GT4 - Ruapuna GP
BMW 320 TC - Sakitto National
Renault Clio - Sonoma Short

So, l've also tried some of the suggestions and some of them are kind of weird.

The P1 at Donington is way too fast and wouldnt make for exciting or close racing.
The Focus is an absolute nightmare to drive, if people didnt like the Escort this week, they will definitely hate the Focus.
BMW M1, GT3, C DTM, Silverstone and Bathurst will be dealt with tomorrow :)

I have to say though, that most Road Cars are only fun to drive at Monza or Road America due to the long straights. Thats why l picked Monza again for next month.
Its not so much fun when there are lots of corners, bumps or elevation and direction changes. What do you guys think?

I liked these suugestions of yours, Pink:
Ruf RGT-8 Road - Monza GP
GT1 - Le Mans 24h
Sauber C9 - Brno
BMW 320 TC - Sakitto National
Wait? Can we race Monza since Mr. Monza is not in the group anymore? :p

Not sure if it's something to do with FFB, but the Focus is nothing like the Escort for me. It's much nicer to drive - probably closer to the Lancer than anything else.

Personally not a big fan of road cars on tracks that are very tight & twisting (Oulton Park, Ruapuna etc), but I don't mind tracks with fast or wide corners. Silverstone or Brno would be good. I definitely enjoy cars like the Gumpert Apollo or McLaren P1 at tracks like that.

What's wrong with the Caper at Oschersleben?

I dont know, when l tried the Focus it was super twitchy and slidy. Not fun at all.
Well, not sure, might be nothing wrong, was just surprised to read that combo.

Actually tried all Road Cars yesterday, but they always make me want to go back to Monza, because there are so few tracks on which they are fun to drive. And always having in mind that up to 16 will be on track on raceday, so, very difficult to figure out some nice combinations.

For me its better, but then again, still a handful on most GP tracks and even worse when racing in a pack.
How do you like it?

From what I remember I think it's quite similar to the Clio as far as FFB goes - pretty weak, but manageable.

So I suppose it would depend on what the performance was like. I can't really comment on that because the laps I did were all spent trying to sort the FFB out :(.

I would love to race with Caper in any track, the V8 sound....oh my god! And i like the handling too. About Ford Focus, i only drive this 2 times and i didn't like it. But i think i've never spend some time with it to improve the car and my skills with it. And i never drived the Megane, i'll give a try later

So, i started my practice for sunday races. I've picked up Dubai GP first because i have two points to explore: First one is i only did 2 or 3 races in this track, i have to improve my knowledge about that one. In second, i have to decide in what car i will do it. I've tested 3 cars and experienced some heat in my left tyres when driving in limits after 3 or 4 laps. I don't know if a problem related to my skills or track, but i do like the challenge to race hard and take care about my tyres. Just warming up my fingers ;)

I have a question to all:

Would you mind if both race days featured the same tracks?
Like this it wouldnt feel like driving the same tracks every month.

I can only race sundays anyway, so does not affect me. But does that not give a small advantage for people racing on both days to the ones only racing monday?

Same here, only race on one day so doesn't really affect me.

What about just swapping the cars over to stop people getting as much of an advantage?

Sunday
Car A at Track A
Car B at Track B

Monday
Car B at Track A
Car A at Track B

Obviously depends on both cars being suitable for both tracks though :/
