View Full Version : Screen by screen setup guide.
Racing games instructions are rarely good and detailed enough to allow players without quite some previous knowledge to set a car up by themselves. Item descriptions are usually confusing, vague and not that helpful.
The goal of this series is to give clear descriptions of the effect of changes for every particular item, helped by video footage. I will also try to help each player identifying by himself when a particular item might need to be changed, and when it's possible, a fast procedure to arrive quickly to ideal levels.
I leave the guide to screen number 1 here, and I'll update this as soon as possible with more.

Good stuff. You might look at some older videos from a series called "Race Control":

I think I saw these on SageDavid channel. Part 2 is out, wings and weight distribution.

Does anyone know where to find #3 to #6?
Number 3 is out! Will keep working on the rest, I jumped to screen 7 as it was needed to complement the wing levels.

Great videos, mate!
I would recommend watching these videos on the desktop version of YouTube and not in the app. At least in my case it didn't show the captions when viewing the video in the YouTube app on iPad. And you need the captions to follow the excellent explanations provided with every tuning option.
One more screen covered, and this time it's the most important one in terms of getting the desired balance.

One more is out, this time it's the guide for differential settings.

Thank you for these videos. Learned something new from #4 and #6 ones. Especially about deceleration lock. I had a problem with MP4-12C, if I touch brake pedal even slightly while cornering - tail is gone. I increased decel. lock and it's much more stable now.

I bring something slightly different this time: a brief guide explaining how to prepare your car for a wet race, or changing weather

Thank you very much for creating these, very helpful :D
After covering each item and screen individually, Iīve gone for a different approach now: Iīll give you the baseline setups I use as starting point for different cars.
The first will be the Formula A, it is a popular car and the default setup is terrible, so hopefully this will help a lot of people to get to grips with this car.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKHz2DjzKKc
Time to add one more tool to your toolbox:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mt6at8I6Tw
Another baseline setup. Iīve raced this car for the last couple of months and itīs time to share all I learned. Hopefully you can use it to kick some ass!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9NCAXmScKhM
I take the chance to recommend this car. It is NOT a downsized boring GT3 car that drives itself, it is far more demanding and twitchy than its big brother, although it lacks power.
Another car getting the same treatment. Includes a baseline setup and also a couple of driving tips!

One more! For those of you into leaderboards and World Records, this is a good chance to destroy some, not many people know how to make this car perform (compound choice, cough...).

YES SIR!! I reckon this will be popular, weīre all drooling over this car at the moment... well at least I am.

Itīs been a while since I donīt post one of these baseline setups, so there goes one:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MnkuU42jk6U
It destroyed a WR while being created, and it worked well across a handful of tracks I tested it on, quality stuff.
Another baseline setup backed with World Records in the tracks it was used to develop it... and itīs a race-day tune! If you enjoy playing with the underdog in the LMP1 class, and scare the almighty P30īs, this is a good chance.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vekIuLBoRLg
It was time to give GT3 class some love, so I built something for the McLaren MP4-12. It allowed me to get straight into WR pace in Barcelona once it was finished, so you can bet it is fast, and it handles really good.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eh4EZb5VKYU
After getting confirmation from Jussi that theyīre the same car, I can post this knowing it works for both cars indeed:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fq3VOMVpPBE
After a good while, I managed to get something good for the Ford V8 Supercar
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFglTpk9CSc
Baseline tune for the Formula Gulf. It gets rid of all that corner exit understeer and makes the car far more alive. Includes instructions to operate this gearbox without auto-clutch, and some sample footage with telemetry activated.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ThchGkYj5k
In case someone is on the verge about buying the current DLC, hereīs a review of the highlight of it: the Dallara DW12. Includes all liveries, onboard footage and quick setup tips.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzxrtxoBpuk
After some more mileage I got something that works like a charm for the Dallara. On top of the setup it includes a compound comparison and push-to-pass tips.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p3jqF1oi_No
Time for the other highlight of the American DLC, the Corvette C7.R! This time thereīs more emphasis on the driving tips segment, as the engineīs power curve require some tricks on the gearbox handling.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2OxQqHyjAU
Itīs been a while since I did the last setup video, so hereīs something to keep it going!

OMG! Thanks, I've been looking for this info and here it is in one place.
servicing stop (http://servicingstopblog.co.uk)
This time on top of providing a setup for the Renault RS01 I wanted to see if including it in the GT3 field was a doable idea... so I did a pace comparison!

Doge would you consider a video showing setup of a car but at different types of travel km so we can see some of the changes needed for say a slow track, faSt track, twisty track k, bumpy track etc ?

not sure where the "travel km" came - predictive text no doubt; yes I meant tracks
