View Full Version : Round 11 adjournment to a later date and cancelation of this weekend’s lap times

Hello,

As some of you already know, round 11 of the SMS/R championship taking place at the Spa-Francorchamps track with FA cars has been cancelled and adjourned to a later unknown date. This is due to update differences between the various gaming platforms.

On a more personal note, I would like to address a message to the organization staff: I am unhappy with the way the situation has been handled and by the lack of communication surrounding it.

I am once more very disappointed. From the start of the championship, all rounds have been at the center of controversial debates and round 11 is no exception.

I will try to be constructive and clear:

- First of all, since the issue of different updates was already known, why not very simply cancel round 11 before it even started?
- Why has the access to the event not yet been directly cut off from the game itself? Did you consider the players who do not go through the official website and who, as I write, are still trying to accomplish their best lap without knowing that it won’t count?
- Did you consider the players who have worked hard all weekend to accomplish their lap?
- Why didn’t you cancel the Sylverstone and Nurburgring GP rounds which also had the same issue: different game updates on the various gaming platforms?
- Why not adjourn round 11 on XBOX One only (update 2.0), the only platform which does not currently have the 3.0 update?

My request is simple: I am asking you to kindly proceed in the same manner as for the adjournments of rounds 1 and 2 at Brands Hatch and Catalunya GP by keeping the current best lap times for PS4 and PC.

Please let it be known that I have tremendous respect and appreciation for the game that is Project CARS as well as for all the staff putting together some great work since the very start.

Please do not take my message as an attack but rather as a sincere request coming from a faithful and respectful gamer who does not wish to see his, as well as many others’, efforts go in vain.
I extend to all my heartfelt greetings.

Sincerely,
Yinato.

I think what Yinato is proposing makes lots of sense. Fully agreed.

They all should be just platform specific, and not the 3 against each other as it will never play the same platform to platform....

Mmh, not sure: I think that the multiplatform setup is one of the appeals of the game: being able to compete with all gamers in the world... All they have to do is make sure all updates are released around the same time and organize the events only when all platforms are updated. I mean how hard can it be?...

Well reality is it wont ever be exactley the same from one platform to another, and you would end up switching platforms just to compete at the top.

I've played it on xbox, and ps4 and ps4 definatley runs way better than xbox by far.

"Round 11 adjournment to a later date and cancelation of this weekend’s lap times" ... The title is a statement, or should it have a "?" at the end of the title? ;)

My message is a statement.

More details here: http://www.projectcarsgame.com/home/sms-r-driver-network-championship-heads-to-belgium

Also thank you to respect my initial post about.

I am also worried about the round 12 to be held this weekend, also it may be postponed.

Hey all,

First of all - apologies for our communication regarding Round 11. The use/overriding of aids in Community Events is an ongoing task that should be resolved in Feature Update 4.0 and the difference in tire behaviour unfortunately was significantly pronounced to a degree that the there was no cross-platform parity any more.

As a result of this, we are making the following changes and improvements...

Round 11 will be postponed until October. Why so long? Because there is a gap currently between Round 17 and 18 that this will fill nicely

Round 12 will similarly be postponed until November to further fill a gap there currently

The next round will therefore be Round 13 at Monza on 4th September. Rounds 11 and 12 will be moved in the in-game interface accordingly at the soonest opportunity.

Why didn't they get removed immediately? That's just not how the backend system works unfortunately, although it is something to note for future improvement.

Why not just move the rounds on Xbox One? Again, unfortunately our backend system doesn't work like that, plus there may be other changes introduced at a later date that would mean the old PS4/PC times were then invalid. It's fairer and critical to keep everyone on the same version of the game
Secondly, a bit of history and news...

When we launched Project CARS we had a hope that these Community Events were going to capture your imagination and so we decided to go for it in terms of Project CARS dipping its toes into the world of eSports. You proved us right by participating in these events and taking it as seriously as we'd hoped.

When we attended Gamergy in Madrid this year we were testing how the game would work as a live event with players that are used to other titles like the Nissan GT Academy and iRacing. That was extremely promising and helped us plan our Gamescom event that was even bigger.

Since then, we've been working on something extremely exciting that will solidify our continued push into the world of eSports (more info on that soon!) and to that extent I'd now like you to join me in welcoming a new member of our team - Joe Barron who has joined the team as our eSports Co-ordinator :D

Joe is here to be a dedicated point of contact to you all in regards to community events, the SMS-R Driver Network Championship, and live events with the aim of providing you all with better communication in future in terms of announcement of upcoming events, management whilst they are live, and expedited delivery of each round's results.

Once again, we hope this shows our commitment to you guys based on the feedback you've given us and allows Project CARS to continue on to even greater heights.

Thanks for introducing me, Andy. And hello everyone!

I'm a huge sim racing guy, having been something of a specialist in the genre while I was a professional games reviewer. So you can imagine, it's pretty exciting for me to now be working on an awesome sim like Project CARS!

There's a lot for me to get my head around in the near future, but like Andy says, I'll be your point of contact for all Project CARS eSports events.

I'm looking forward to learning a thing or two from guys to make me a bit faster too!

Hi Andy,

I had hoped that you would be the one to answer me and am very glad it is the case!

I can only thank you and extend to you my trust. I know you to be a generous person and very involved in what you undertake.

I thank also thank you for having communicated to us with greater precision the info concerning the upcoming events. All is now much clearer.

I am thrilled to see that Project Cars is seeking a deeper involvement into the world of eSports. This is great news for all the simracing community.

Warm welcome to you dear Joe. It’s very pleasing to have a full time professional dedicated to the management of the game’s community events!

Best wishes to Andy, Joe and all of the staff.

Sincerely,
Anthony.
