Hi all,

I've been given permission to buy a new gaming PC!

I want to be able to play PC and PC 2 on very good setting @ 1080p what GPU would I need?

I have 1000.00 and don't need a screen

I'm not an idiot but these are so many options?

Take a look at my sig for a first guideline. That rig cost me ~1100€, not sure how comparable those prices are to the UK though.

Do you also need a new monitor and peripherals or are those 1000 bucks for the tower only?

Forget the SLI option. Either you "SLI" now when purchasing or never. And your PSU is not strong enough for 2 GPUs.

I'd recommend an aftermarket GTX970 from EVGA for example. Don't go for the NVIDIA stock version with that terrible cooling solution.

Apart from that it looks solid IMO.

I've just built a PC for a mate of mine, with almost the exact same requirements, i.e. No Screen, controllers, etc.

This is the Overclockers basket I put together about 3 weeks ago:

I think we ended up not getting the mSata SSD, and went for a weekly deal full size one, but other than that it was pretty much bang on that list.

Space was a consideration, so hence the Micro ATX M/B, so you might be better on the full fat equivalents for upgradeability. Getting well over 70FPS @ 1080p with pretty high settings.

On your spec the only thing I would potentially have another look at is the PSU. 650 seems a little low to me, and may not give you the headroom in the future.

This is what I went with:

I had to drop the memory from 16GB to 8GB (albeit slightly faster) and water CPU cooler to fan (I doubt I'll clock that anyway) so I could afford to upgrade the GPU and PSU for SLI use later on.

Thanks for the help everyone

I'll let you know how I get on once it arrives, then an Xbox convert can show the PC's guys how it should be done

Also are there any racing leagues that anyone can recommend?

I'm in the UK, would be nice to race in the same time zone.
