View Full Version : New Graphics card

Hi all, I'm new to PC gaming after owning a ps3 for years.
My rig is a Q6600@3GHz, 9600GT and 4GB ram.
I've got more ram coming and want to upgrade my graphics card but I'm a little out of the loop. Is it worth waiting for a used GTX 770 to pop up or grab a GTX 950 which is at my budget limit. Knowing I'll be CPU limited till I can upgrade later, Will these cards run this game at high settings well?
Cheers, Dave.

IMO the GTX950 is not worth the money. For just a few bucks more you get a GTX960 that is significantly faster (~as fast as a GTX770 with less power consumption) or a R9 280X if you want to go the AMD route.

Both cards will be good enough to run at high (not Ultra) settings but won't help you much regarding races against many AI opponents because you'll be heavily CPU limited.

The 960 is a great card for your money. Definitely I would say this card is the minimum you want for this game to run decent graphics settings and still get 60fps with a full grid.
I built my first PC a few months ago to run this game. Cost me about 500 and i'm very happy with it.

Just got a 960, and it rocks at 1080p.

Thanks for the replies, looks like i might have to stretch the budget a little. I'm getting sick of the frame freeze.........

Don't bother upgrading your graphics card until you can move to a newer CPU. Your CPU will be the bottleneck with pCARS. During development of pCARS, I ran the same CPU so I know first hand how limiting that CPU can be with this sim.
