Hi all,

We just got confirmation that the Xbox One patch 5 is going live today, and with that, here are the release notes.


Project CARS – Xbox One Patch 5.0 – Release notes

Online
* Enforce fixed (default) setups – fixed cases where enabling this would still allow players to use custom setups. Enabled the player's custom controller settings to still be used when using fixed setups.
* Mojave layouts – fixed an issue where, if the host were disqualified, it would force end-of-race for everyone.
* Fixed an issue with tyre choices being ignored during pit stops.
* VOIP – stability updates.
* Fixed an issue where the player could get stuck on the Session Results screen if signing out and signing back in during a Practice session.

Physics & AI
* Improved AI behaviour in pit lanes to further reduce cars hitting the pit walls when driving out of the garages.
* Fixed an issue where cars under AI control would struggle to drive correctly on tracks with high banking.
* Fixed an issue where some car parts that were dislodged during a collision would not be removed when the track is cleared.

Career
* Fixed an issue where the maximum amount of contract and invitation emails could be exceeded with DLC installed, resulting in the player not being notified of newly unlocked contract offers and invitational events.

Controls
* Fixed a bug on the splash screen where the controller used to press the A Button to start was not selected as the current controller.
* Logitech G920 – updated default controller map sets for the layouts to be consistent between wheels and across platforms.
* Logitech G920 – fixed an issue with the gearshift mapping.
* Removed default assignments for wipers and lights, as this was disabling the wipers/lights turning on automatically when it started raining or got dark.

Tracks
* Nürburgring GP, Sprint, Sprint Short – fixed an issue that caused issues for cars pitting in the first pit spot.
* Nordschleife – fixed an issue that caused cars to get stuck against the pit wall when driving in the pit lane.
* Nürburgring Sprint Short – fixed a cut track issue at the NGK Chicane.
* Barcelona GP – fixed cut track issue when entering the pit lane.
* Watkins Glen – improved overall track performance to address frame rate drops in certain areas.

Vehicles
* Aston Martin Vantage GTE – tweaked cockpit exposure to work better with rainy conditions.
* Aston Martin DBR 1-2 – set the car up so that the steering wheel remains in a static state when the user chooses the ‘hide wheel’ option, so that the user can still read the vital info displayed on the wheel.
* Aston Martin DBR1 1959 – fixed an issue where the wrong helmet was displayed when using Helmet View, tweaked inertia and roll stiffness to improve collision behaviour.
* Audi 90 IMSA GTO, Audi R8 V10 plus, Ruf Rt 12R – fixed an issue where the KERS bar would appear on the HUD of these cars, even though they don’t have KERS.
* BMW 320 Turbo – fixed an issue where the car would start 'wandering' in straight lines after a few laps.
* Bentley Continental GT3 – updated engine and minimum ride height to match latest; mapped real world balance of performance; updated gearbox ratios to current FIA specifications, putting it more in line with the other GT3 cars.
* Ford Mustang GT – improve braking power to better match the car's weight.
* Ginetta G40 – partial fix for front tires overheating if pressure goes over 1.8bar.
* Historic Lotus Formula cars – improved the Helmet View exposure settings
* Lotus 98T – fixed an issue with missing bodywork in the cockpit
* Mercedes C Class DTM – adjusted steering wheel shift lights to better match the engine's power band.
* Ruf CTR – changed to a more durable brake pad for track use and added an optional brake duct to help control temperatures at slow tracks.
* Mitsubishi Evo-X – improved engine sound quality.

GUI & HUD
* Display correct message when trying to toggle assists when assists are disabled.
* Changed the displayed values for Lateral and Longitudinal weight bias, to make it more intuitive.
* Fixed an issue with bad Text spacing on the Telemetry screen.
* Fixed various issues with the HUD gearshift indicator during replays.
* Fixed an issue where making real time changes to the stability control would display incorrect information.
* Fixed an issue where the in-game Standings screen ‘Lap time’ was cleared too soon.

General
* Fixed an issue where the ‘Sync to Race’ option was unavailable when configuring Weather Progression.
* Fixed an issue where the Best Driving Line assist appeared in the rear view mirrors.
* Localisation – added ‘United Arab Emirates’ used by Lykan to non-English language sets.
* Fixed an issue with Quick Race Weekend, where running Qualifying and Race without a Practice session would cause the Qualifying session rules to not work correctly.
* Fixed a case where the ‘One more for the road’ achievement would not unlock correctly.
* Fixed an issue where the player could still toggle driving assists on via buttons, even when driving assists was disabled.
* Fixed an issue where the external driving camera would clip through the track on steep banking.
* Fixed an issue with random cloud ‘popping’ in and out of view.
* Fixed an issue with clouds disappearing when using time acceleration.
* Fixed a render timing issue that would at times cause a black screen when the processor is under heavy load.
* Fixed an issue that caused the player’s view to switch from helmet camera to cockpit camera during pit stops.
* Fixed an issue where the ambient car shadow appeared with a solid outline in night races.
* Fixed an issue where events sometimes do not download from global storage.

Doesnt work with Multiple Sessions Dynomight

But it works like this.

if its a 20 minute race, with 4 slots, each slot is 5 mintues long.

It doesnt work with multiple sessions though, so i wouldnt recommend using it with a full race weekend

and yes after every advance to next session the Time of Day and Weather will reset to whatever you have it set to Start to. So every session will reset to say, 1pm with Clear weather every time

For example... if you have an hour long race and 4 weather slots on sync to race with real time, the weather would change roughly every 15 mins.

As the others already said, "sync to race" doesn't work with pre race sessions.

These changes seem to be for Xbox One only:

First of all, thanks for your efforts to sort out all the bugs, but I see that the CTDs issues with the Ginetta G40 in career mode is not mentioned in the release notes, I suppose that problem still remains then? Is there a workaround that problem ? I really would like to continue my career now because I'm tired of playing Forza as a substitute for this game :)

Tire compound switch in pits are good to go. Also did stay with helmet cam upon leaving the pits :)

Update: glad they fixed the wheel issue for Aston Martin DBR1-2 when using "wheel/driver off". Definitely going to put some seat time in now with that car.

My patch was over 4GB? I installed on a fresh installation if that makes any difference in patch size, anyway it took me 21 min to download at 30Mbit.

I was worried about the said changes in the Bentley specs and default setup, but now the car feels better than before. The default setup is now drivable, the cars is more stable, especially in high speeds. No more twitching. The only changes I made were :
Front ride height to 70mm, both difs to 20, dif pre load to 60.that's it.

I have a problem with the damn Ginettas, seems that those drivers hate my guts. I'm faster but they carry a killing mood... Hahaha. The car feels a little slower, but much much better to drive. So far nothing to complain about.
Watkins Glen lost some trees and actually looks better than before. The pit lane looks more busy too, like team stands and stuff that I don't remember from the previous version...

has the frame rate improved at Watkins Glen? if chopping some trees is the way to improve fps SMS can call in the gardener! and even remove the ferry wheel at Sakito =p

I don't think they only removed some trees and trimmed the bushes. :p
Maybe some draw call optimization, reduced render distance for some objects etc.

Yes it's miles better. That terrible drop right after the carousel is not there anymore.
One negative thing about the patch, the race weekend qualify bug still there...

I have been doing some laps on Nurburgring GP today in the LMP1 P30, before and after the patch. (Yes I have done a hard reset)

Before the patch the game all but the sound issue was running fine but I was in TT. After the patch I did some more TT and in the 3rd sector there is some frame drop, then I went onto race weekend and did 30 laps with 7 AI's on 100% and that frame drop is still there, the sound issue has got worse but it's not crashed the game as of yet. Also, I still cant have the same tier pressure in the pit stop I had to start the race.

Now that the patch 5.0 is out, I want to ask to developers to make another Patch (it's more than URGENT) to fix the weather/time reseting in every session!

It boggles my mind how can they make a thing worse than before.

The level of ridiculous is so high, that now I have to stay with my XBox OFF LINE everytime, just to make sure it doens't update to this buggy patch 5.0.

In your defence I did a double take on this too after 5.0, but realised it was the Garage and Store from the next screen. Just never observed it before on the edge of the screen.

Yeah I have to agree that it's starting to feel like a proper game now.

Agree. Seems (placebo ?????? I think not) to run smoother. Did for long time some online races and they worked well too. Still some hiccups when someone joines but ran smooth with 15 drivers. And my god I am a bad driver. Why is everybody faster than me??? ;) Also car handling when using controller seems to be better.

The Nurburgring stuck in the pits has been fixed. I must try other tracks.

I think I have spent around 100 hours just doing 10 lap quick races on this track.

Yes I have.

Other than deleting the game save I've done just about everything I can now. Even tried deleting it and playing without any of the DLC in case they were the cause but still no luck.

in many races we did after the 5.0 update the game closes and leaves not save the replay not counting the times which is caught on the final screen of the race.

So i just wanted to add this here.....

Since the last update (i think 4.0) i have noticed the brake lines having issues with disappearing every now and then.
Seems there is a little glitch with them as they appear in a corner as they should and the next lap they are gone. 2 Tracks I have noticed is Monza and Road America. Has anyone else experienced this?

I have never used any sort of braking/racing line assistance in any game, just prefered to learn as you would in real life.

Just out of curiosity, once you complete a few laps at racing speed on a track youv'e not raced on before, do you then turn the lines off?

In 99% not, as long as I am not forced to do so. I am in the end 40's and used to race with the "brake line only" since the days of Toca and Gran Tourismo 1, so for maybe 15, 16, 17 years. I am sure on tracks that I know well like Hockenheim, Barcelona e.g. I can turn them off and won't miss them. And on less common race tracks in games too after learning the track layout and the brake points.
Call it habit, comfortableness or laziness or whatever you want.
I can guess your next question, ;) , I race without assists besides of tcs in case of cars that are hard to control.

I really like that this game lets me use the turn arrow indication instead of braking lines. Give that a go instead. It does not ruining the track with all those horrible lines.

I noticed that in a similar way as you did, but I had the feeling it happened when I went off track slightly in the before corners. At Imola for example the brake only line do not show up in corners after chicanes where you easily can go off. Hm, but your theory makes sense too, you have to go through the chicanes very slow compared to other corners. So maybe the "brake line is set asleep" for the next corner for some reason.

Great to see support continuing for the game. Unfortunately, the two nights since getting the patch have both seen the game experience a crash to the dashboard. Up until then this was something I'd never experienced.

In both cases, it occurred as I was returning to the main screen, once from Free Practice and once from Career. The good news though is that it doesn't seem to happen during racing. Is this the same issue as people were having early on in the game's life or something different? And is there something I can do to minimise it? Nothing else was running on the Xbox apart from the friends and party apps so would hope it wasn't a case of the Xbox trying to do too much.

No my next comment would have been do the lines not become a little annoying after a while, or at least distracting when your in a battle with a few other cars and you spend as much time off the racing line and braking at different places.

My comment was not meant to be anything other than to point out i never use them because i find i can drive faster by not having them as they are only a guide and not always the fastest way round the track, also you tend not to find the absolute limit of the car which is important during qualy.

Of course it is only my opinion and i could of course be wrong.

I have come back to PCars after playing boring Forza for a couple of weeks, and I have to say this game is incredible good when it works, I had a couple of incredibly exciting race last night in Clio Cup, thanks SMS for making my dream game come through :applouse:

I have noticed this as well, I whish I could map the brake line on my wheel, it's a great tool when learning a new track, and it would be nice to have an option to turn it on & off from the wheel (or controller).

To be honest, mostly I don't notice the brake line when cars are around. I brake usually earlier than I have to, to avoid crashing into others. As mentioned in the earlier post, I don't need the brake line help on well known tracks so sometimes I don't notice it aware even without cars around me.

The PCars line seduces you to brake way too early , so it isn't a big help either way.

Let's wait until Christmas, it is written and told in a lot of legends that miracles often happen at this time. So don't give up hope so fast.

Good way to describe how this game makes you keep playing, when its working well it does sort of seduce you away from the exit.

Its like "Hey there, your not thinking of leaving are you , i see you havent been out in the Mercedes 300SL yet, how about we take it for a spin?"

You can put the voice in yourself but you get the idea.

Sorry to say that, but the game kept me away from taking the exit for exactly 2 hours after playing with 5.0. AI still cuts corners or go off the track to overtake, sound stuttering still exists, still no tune save fix, penalties are still a mess. AI skill is still inconsistent from track to track. That plus some (For ME) unimportant minor flaws like the not appearing brake line.
So I took the exit again (until 6.0) and play AC Syndicate/Fifa/Forza.

The sound issue has been a real problem for me, these steps have not got rid of it but it's stopped it happening as much and it don't last as long

1. What power mode option do you use (Settings->Power & startup->Power mode)
2. What NAT type do you have (Settings->Network->NAT type)
3. Is your connection wired or wireless (Settings->Network->Current Network Status)

Keeping all background downloads and apps to OFF/quit
Keeping your console on Energy Saving
Clearing Persistent Storage after every gaming session
Clearing Alternate MAC Address every now and then (maybe every second time you connect to Live)
Powering up the console using the touch-sensitive button on console, and using the same to power it down
If you launch any apps or go into menus, make sure you press start and select 'quit' to close them all before launching a gaming session
Try to play your game first thing when your console has freshly booted up. And, before power it up, make sure it is off from mains supply, so that you boot it up cold (white light on power supply which turns to amber, THEN you power it up)

The only thing I was doing yesterday was keeping the xbox on energy saving mode and powering up and down with the button on the xbox. Before this was pointed out to me the sound glitch was a major problem for me, once it hit me it could last for the bast part of 2 laps and a lot of the time it was crashing the game or locking it up. But since I have hardly heard it and when i do it last for seconds, I only heard it twice yesterday.

I have always turned my Xbox off at the wall when I'm finished with it, I'm sure this helps being completely unpowered until next time, same with my TX wheel.

Also being on the NXOE seems to have been an improvement, last night the sound glitch 'tried' to happen twice, only barely made a noise and only for a second or so, and I have not had any graphical glitches since.

Joined a random multiplayer lobby last night also, and though there were the small freezes with people joining and leaving constantly during the qualifying session, though annoying they weren't as bad as they used to be. Once the race was underway, you could see people trying to join and leave, but this had no impact on the performance of the game.

I know there are still some glitches for most of you on here, but hang out just a couple of weeks as I'm sure these will hopefully disappear with the new OS dropping very soon. What's left after that shouldn't be too hard to fix and this game will really start to shine.

Sorry if this has already been covered, I'm having trouble with pitting with default setup on, ie if we start of with a dry race then it switches to wet on entry to pits I'm not getting the option to change to wets, in turn it's sending me out with slicks.

Can you provide more details please? Career, QRW or MP? Which car and track? etc...
