View Full Version : Console Racing Site makes its debut

I was brand new to the racing genre (but not that new to life) and Pcars has well and truly grabbed me, true it has shaken me around a bit but now its time to start to settle down and explore the inner depths of the game!

Through my Pcars journey the thing that has struck me has been how the groups/clans/leagues - whatever you want to call them struggle to get off the ground and are isolated from each other.

Yes I get the hiding behind doors to stop poaching of members and keeping the MP idiots at bay, but I think this isolation hinders the development of the online gaming experience as when a groups starts to wither the remaining racers have no where to go and the experience and skill they have built up is then not passed on to the next up and coming racers.

Hence the idea behind Console Racer - which aims to be a site for Xbox & PlayStation racers to mix and race/time trial/discuss, casually or in a more structured environment all aspects of console racing, starting with PCars

The site is new and is just starting out, so give us a chance and hopefully we can develop with your user ideas, so why not give us a shot and come a long and visit http://consoleracing.boards.net/.

Why not have a look, drop us a note with any ideas and if you need a base for your racing thrills why not get in touch to request a board for your group so you can speak to a wider audience and attract new members

Oh and by the way One Rule - if you just want to poach members and be an idiot you are not welcome

Cheers

G

I like the idea of gathering the true fans of the game, and makin' a platform for this :D

Unfortunally your site is (what i can tell) just another forum ? - Why should people move, the official forum allready have what they need ? Im not picking at you, but I think you need to deliver some features, which makes planning, leaderboards, race stats and so on much easier accessible before you'll se a great number of users on your forum.

Useful comments thanks.

Granted the official Pcars site does contain a wealth of information and I do not want to replace this, but through a smaller site we can be more dedicated and focused than being a discussion only place, and whilst people can advertise MP action this then is usually done elsewhere away from the official forum. My site is the same but if we can get multiple groups on the site this provides a good environment to grow.

Features can be added as and when/if people do join the site and get involved, providing leaderboards, stats and extra info can all be added but it needs racers to be involved as well

Also at present the although the site will focus on Pcars on time with new titles these can be added to the site as well, again giving a central place for console racers
Regards

I'm looking forward to getting back into racing in regular series.

MP is not something I have really done but with the crew chief app I would feel more confident in running in a regular series

TT I like because it gives you time to adjust to a car and tinker with tune without a lot of pressure

I like TT but I also like multiplayer though I tend not to be the fastest.

There are many sites that have races on pcars already out there, not sure many are hiding behind closed doors though, i think its more likely that the members have found ppl they can race with knowing they wont get rammed so they stick there and do not try others.

With the games lobby chat still not working you cannot really have more than 12 in a lobby, it also doesnt help that it runs p2p so running with drivers from other countries to your own increase lag chances and the fact that the game has so many bugs still some 7 months after release means many have moved on.

its a shame but it seems every attempt they make to fix it breaks it even more, they have allowed 3rd party apps to run alongside the game now and that causes no end of problems, sending info in real time means its using your bandwidth therefore less for online connection meaning tons more lag.......real time apps only work on servers properly yet they are chasing the cash cow now for every penny.

.

Which is precisely my point that if we can run a site which has a varied mix of abilities and racing likes that would benefit the racers as a whole. The little groups only focus on one aspect and people,0 as is natural, get bored and move on to the next game and the rest of the group will eventually wither. As new titles come out, the site can cater for this by adding new titles to the roster thereby helping racers in general maintain the interest and group structure

Understood and we will have to see how we get on

Not sure I agree it was SMS chasing the cash cow, as far as I can see console users begged and screamed for apps from day one and SMS where able to get Sony & MS to agree to this, the people making money and rightly so are the app makers.

Glad you are watching but how about you let us know what you would like from the site .

My aim is to help people race or TT or just hang out but we need input from the racers.

If you like TT challenges watch this space for details later on today..

Had a good initial response to site registrations but need a few more to make organised races viable, don't be shy now :D

Webber88 is looking to start an organised event at the end of January, so if you are interested then head over to the site and look in the organised events section

The P2 / GTE 200 series will consist of 10 races each running at 200km in length.

Each race will be contested by cars that fit the LMP2 category and the GTE/GT3 category in Project CARS.

There will be 3 championships up for grabs in each class, a drivers championship, teams championship.

Although the whole series will be held over 10 races, there will 3 dropped rounds. So only your best 7 scores will be counted.

Races will be held on a Sunday night with qualifying starting at 8pm.

Qualifying will be held over a 20 minute period. You will be able to finish the lap you are on when the timer runs out.

The first race will be kicking off at Nurburgring on January 31st 2016

I like the sound of this... am I right in saying it's not a structured thing like a race but more a day to set your fastest times in whatever the class du jour is?

I work long shifts, committing to the same day each week doesn't work for me but if this is more of a TT contest that would suit me pretty well. Have I got the right end of the stick?

The event proposed by webbers88 is a weekly race event, however we have a fortnightly TT event running as well which will suit your needs.

We are always open to other suggestions for formats so why not register and get involved , nothing too loose ?

Aye I wasn't actually referring to the post directly above, it does look like it though... haha.

Registration inbound

Edit: All done. Looking forward to a poke around the site.

Notes:

The FINAL STANDINGS leaderboard will only contain times for racers who enter below.

As console leaderboards only show the fastest car it is imperative that you obtain a screenshot of your time from within the TT pause screen - as if you have registered a time at the track in a faster car your time will not show on the leaderboards

All FINAL times to be entered in the TT must be posted in the TT005 timing thread that will be opened 48 hrs before the end of the TT, this is to make it easier for the host to collate the times - general times through the TT can be posted in this thread as normal
