View Full Version : Wanted: Multiplayer Telemetry Capture

Greetings fellow racers.

I've been noodling around creating the Project CARS Replay Enhancer (http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/showthread.php?43736-UDP-Replay-Enhancer) in my spare time, and a combination of shoddy Internet tubes, preventing me from doing much multiplayer, and some code that never actually made it into the code base has found a few gaps when it comes to running the Replay Enhancer on multiplayer replays.

I'm asking for some assistance in getting the telemetry data I'd need to improve the Replay Enhancer. If you're up to it, all you need is Python 3.4 or greater (https://www.python.org/downloads/) and the code from Replay Enhancer Github repository (https://github.com/SenorPez/project-cars-replay-enhancer/releases/tag/release-0.2).

Getting the data to me is easy:

Verify you have UDP broadcast enabled in your version of Project CARS. For this, the rate doesn't matter.
On a computer on the same network as Project CARS, run python3 packetgrab.py. It'll listen for the UDP broadcast, and write the packets to a subdirectory. Hit CTRL+C to stop it.
ZIP or TARGZ that directory and send it my way via Dropbox, OneDrive, email, whatever.

Ideally, each capture directory would be "one race," but I'm not going to be picky. Data is data and I'd rather get data and have to split your races than discourage people by putting requirements on it.

If you want to provide replay videos for the captured data (by putting them up on YouTube and sending me a link), you can do that, but there's no requirement for that. Again, I'm really just after the data and don't want to discourage anyone.

If you have any questions, please feel free to let me know. And thanks to anyone who might be able to help!
