Was just wondering if this game was made to have some tracks more abrasive tarmac than others, and which ones are the most abrasive. Thanks

Does anyone have any insight if whether or not project cars tracks were designed to have different abrasion levels, and if so, which ones are more than others. Thanks

I remember there being some talk about it but I can't remember what the final conclusion was... Different tracks do stress tyre differently but whether that's just from their layout (lots of long high speed corners load tyres more than short slow ones) or also due to their surface properties I can't say.

AFAIK there is no info on that.

But there are tracks that can eat through tyres like barcelona and brno (those front left tyres...).

Setup and driving style though can probably be more of a factor than the tracks themselves.

Also, different sessions have different grip levels. Practice starts with a green track so the more AI and laps, the faster rubber with accumulate. If it rains, that's gone.

TT mode has always "perfect" conditions.

Yup, Brno is an animal on front tyres, but that might be due to the amount of fast, hard corners, rather than the abrasiveness of the track?

Yes, indeed. I did continue the reasoning on grip levels so somehow I had that as implicit, sorry.

I ask cause I ran 20 laps at Bathurst in a v8 with soft on all fours and went 12 laps before stopping, and 20 laps at road America with hard on front and soft on back end to go 15 laps only because softs on the front would only do 5-6 laps before having to stop.

The V8SC Softs are completely different to any other tire in the game though, if you spin in those you can lose often more than half of the tread, which is why they're pretty much exclusively a qualifying tire, unlike GT3 softs which can be used under race conditions

Time trial tracks aren't rubbered in as you'll find in a race. I've certainly gone faster in races than time trail attempts as a result of them being rubbered in. IMO the tracks during time trial feel very green.

I do faster laps during races than TT pretty often and not because of slipstream

Does the track rubber in during races?

Yes.

IIRC, there was a discussion during the WMD days about the track surfaces and it was said they are all the same across all of the tracks. The only thing that is different is the locale weather.

Yes, the track does rubber in but it's not a significant difference (i.e. it's not faster lap times by seconds).

Ok cool, was just a thought as I also find I usually go quicker in races (when not in slipstream) than in time attack.

Thanks for the info. So now I have to figure out why softs wear so quickly on Road America . Seems like they should last longer than 5 or 6 laps....right?

That long sweeping right hander is a tyre killer just like Brno catalunya and willow springs

Yah the carousel turn is a tuff one. AI seem not to have any problems with that turn and tire wear.

Some of the tracks are really abrasive. On one free practice I did, I heard the track saying quite uncomplimentary things about my wife.

(I'll get my coat - well, the main question had been answered)
