I recorded this because I had an odd collision with a club member. I was sliding off and knew i was close only to my alarm and the other guy that we were hitting each other (see the gap)

That Spitfire engine has got to be one of the best engine sounds of all time IMHO

That Spitfire engine has got to be one of the best engine sounds of all time IMHOYup, it is simply the most incredible sound and attached to one of the most beautiful aircraft to ever grace the skies.

It also has a way of making people swear. Profusely. Take it away Alain (warning, NSFW language)

Makes me want to re-install 'Cliffs of Dover' and jump into a spitfire again. That sound is unmistakable :D

That was an awesome vid cluck.... and I had tears in my eyes when they started shouting 'cluck me'I still remember the first time I watched it, as a tiny, heavily compressed version, back in the late 90s. I had tears in my eyes from laughing so much :D.

Merlin sound brings a tear to the eye and a lump in the throat!

I live up the road from the White Waltham airfield (& Hewland Engineering btw) and last Summer we got a real Spitfire treat with them buzzing me in my garden in prep for their BB memorial flight... was too dumbstruck to fumble around to find my phone so...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hy6SvI6Kvqc

I get multiple air shows a year for free as the aircraft fly over my house to and from the show :D. There are some perks to living so close to an airfield (that and being able to hear the F1 testing :D).

I love the sound of the Merlin V12, nothing else like it! I have been lucky enough to see a Spitfire fly a few times, leaves a massive grin on my face every time!

Ray Hanna was THE Spitfire display pilot. Bar none.

Personally thought that replay sounded more like a Tiger Moth than Spitfire!

You NZ lads are lucky! There's a thriving warbird scene in your country, one to be proud of!
