Hi all,

The PS4 patch is going live today, and here are the notes to go with it...

Project CARS – PS4 Patch 10.0 – Release Notes

Vehicles
• Aston Martin - DBR1-2, Vantage GTE, Vantage GT12: Tweaked cockpit exposure to better balance the world brightness when driving in cockpit view.
• Ford Falcon FG - Made the in-cockpit steering wheel static when disabled so that the digital display is still visible.
• Ford Fusion Stockcar - Fixed a damage issue, tweaks to setups so car is less likely to go on two wheels.
• Dallara DW12 Indycar - Tweaks to setups so car is less likely to go on two wheels.

Controllers
• Controllers - Updated the Fanatec support code to ensure the Fanatec handbrake peripheral works correctly when either connected via the USB adapter or the pedals to the wheel.

Pitstops
• Fixed an issue where, if the player pits on the final lap and only closes the pit board after crossing the place in the pitlane where the finish line is (but before the post-race screen comes up), the race would fail to end.

Mod edit:

Hello everyone. The latest game update for Project CARS on PlayStation 4 has been released today.

It includes some changes to the way the disconnection error messages are displayed. From now on, there are specific error messages for several potential causes of this issue. Therefore, if you get disconnected over the Easter weekend, please share with us the exact text of the error message (including punctuation) that you see, or ideally post a screenshot of it in this thread. This will help our team to understand more about the problem.

We will keep you up-to-date about our progress. In the meantime, please post in this thread with the exact details of any error messages that you may experience.

Time for your monthly update from Bealdor :)

Just a small heads up, we are NOT discussing what is NOT in the patch. Comments of this nature will be moved to an appropriate thread or removed entirely

I note in the 9.0 PS4 Patch notes it said:

• Silverstone Classic – Fixed an issue that caused the game to dramatically slow down and at times crash during pitting in a multiplayer race.

However there is another very similar issue where you qualify at the same track in multiplayer then the race is set to start and the game slows down to less than 1 fps and ultimately you can't race. Is this going to be fixed?

They are still working on a fix for this. The community did great work with collecting info, so this one hopefully gets fixed soon. For more info check out this thread (http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/showthread.php?45044-Silverstone-Classic-9-0-still-broken).

7.3 gigs for this ?The patch sizes bare no relation to the amount of fixes included. If small updates are made to a track, then the whole track has to be downloaded again. Same with the cars and other content. It all adds up quite quickly.

EDIT : Remember, also, that the patch includes the upcoming DLC content so that is additional data on top of the rest.

EDIT : I've been eel'd. Apparently it should only be 1.8GB - see Bealdor's post 2 posts above this one.

An additional option to disable ALL wheels would be nice. I have tablets and apps for essential info and think static wheels look... daft.

Daft enough to actually stop me using those cars.

Maybe something to consider for patch 11?

I agree it's not the best solution but i can't warm to using my fone as a dash it ruins the immersion for me to look at my fone to see how fast the tv is going..
My rig is set up so the static wheel lines up with mine so all I see is the dash info in the centre of my wheel.
But I do agree an option to remove all would be good..

Why the DLC is not released at the same date as the patch?I have no idea, I don't work for SMS or Bandai Namco. Pure speculation on my part, but with the release of the Oculus Rift imminent, it's possible that SMS don't want the two things releasing at the same time.

Rebuilding the database is good maintenance for the PS4 along with keeping it cool. Heat in the PS4 causes crashes to home screen a lot. I moved my PS4 into a more open area and vacuum the vents every week or so. If you hear your PS4 sound like a jet aircraft taking off then you want to check for good ventilation. Just a suggestion that helped with my crash issues.

I think this advice about heat shouldn't be underestimated. I used to have regular problems with the PS3 when I used it in a TV/Av cabinet with some room around the ps3. However the PS4 has remained on top of the unit next to the telly since unboxing and had a quick vacuum every now and again. No issues with the PS4 and very few crashes to PS4 menu when running Project Cars which pushes it to the limit. I've never had to delete my game save/profile. I may have been lucky but I suspect that's a contributer to my lower trouble run with Project Cars and the PS4 in general.

We're just redecorating the room and my wife's trying to suggest the PS4 goes back into the unit. I shall resist for as long as is humanly possible.

Out of interest does anyone know if there is anything in the crash data that gets sent to Sony/SMS that records the temperature of the processors?

Konan

The error message being clearly displayed is a very positive feature and should hopefully help those with crashes/disconnections in the future....thumbs up for SMS and Sony :applause:

Yep silverstone classic us wrecked for multi-player and not fixed with the latest patch .
I attempted to race hock classic last night and after 30mins practice and 15 mins qualifying, there were multiple disconnects and the game froze on start.
None of the remaining cars were on the grid ( which showed up clear ) but rather on the first straight.
Had to restart the game .
This was my first race since patch 10 downloaded .

Hi all,

The PS4 patch is going live today, and here are the notes to go with it...

Project CARS PS4 Patch 10.0 Release Notes

Vehicles
Aston Martin - DBR1-2, Vantage GTE, Vantage GT12: Tweaked cockpit exposure to better balance the world brightness when driving in cockpit view.
Ford Falcon FG - Made the in-cockpit steering wheel static when disabled so that the digital display is still visible.
Ford Fusion Stockcar - Fixed a damage issue, tweaks to setups so car is less likely to go on two wheels.
Dallara DW12 Indycar - Tweaks to setups so car is less likely to go on two wheels.

Controllers
Controllers - Updated the Fanatec support code to ensure the Fanatec handbrake peripheral works correctly when either connected via the USB adapter or the pedals to the wheel.

Pitstops
Fixed an issue where, if the player pits on the final lap and only closes the pit board after crossing the place in the pitlane where the finish line is (but before the post-race screen comes up), the race would fail to end.

Mod edit:

This patch has also changed the email/contract screen for the Career mode so that it scrolls horizontally. It has also removed all my contracts that I had unlocked. Can anyone confirm if the contracts return once the current contract is completed?

When they bury the DLC in patches, its clear that the DLC is being forced on people.
I'm sorry, but you can't be serious saying that, really. There is absolutely nothing in the patch that forces anyone to buy the DLC, there's no pop-up message sating that there's DLC in it that you should buy, or "DLC included in this patch!!!!!!!!1!" notifications or other things urging the player to buy the DLC. It's only your own ideas about it, knowing that the content is included in the patches. SMS nor Bamco is forcing anyone to buy anything, so please don't insinuate that SMS or Bamco is being unfair to their customers.

Delivering the DLC data with the patches is necessary due to the multiplayer mode. If someone, f.e. is racing with a DLC car... what should be displayed if you hadn't the vehicle data on your HDD? This is why, IMO, it is necessary to deliver that data. Even if you weren't interested in online racing in the first place, it is some kind of a necessary evil that you have it in order to make it possible for you to jump into an online race spontaneously. (You may feel free to have a differing opinion on the last point, but I think it is important since IMO the online mode is an essential lifeline for the game.)

You misunderstood me. This and other PS4 titles combine patches and DLC, a ps4 has a very limited hard drive size and can get rather full with content one didn't want and is forced to add if one wants known bugs fixed. I'm not saying there is a pressure to buy anything, I just think DLC and patches that fix the existing games need to be separate.

As Patrick already stated above, it's a design decision so that people with and without DLC can race each other online without splintering up the community depending on what DLC people do and do not have.

I can imagine that storage space can be a problem, though. Does the PS4 allow to store games on external drives like the XB1? Storage space in general isn't very expensive these days.

Everybody has the right (almost duty) to report issues...it's the manor on how they are reported that causes troubles sometimes...

I have just raced at Sakitto GP for the first time in about 2 months and noticed both the Ferris wheel and the ornate wooden footbridge on the main straight are gone. How long has it been like this? I admit I am probably way behind but it seems odd. Surely the removal wouldn't have much benefit to game performance. They were 2 lovely sights on that track.

I think the update is a positive. Distance seems to resolve better and movement just feels "right" i noticed that last update helped the sliding of the cars and initiating and holding a four wheel drift seemed improved. Well this update seems better yet. Cars dive into corners with a sense of weight better and slide predictably according to setup which the cars seem to track setup changes better as well.
The real improvement is the sense of distance and how it feels moving to that distance.. Much more solid.
More in this direction please!!!

I would hope that with pC2 they set a team from the beginning to work on the broken ai. And with 16 + months in they figure it out soon. Then update/patch pC1 and release the oval tracks. It would be win, win situation for all involved and would go a long way for the future of the pCARS series and for the SMS name.

Konan
02-09-2016, 12:48
Imo the AI isn't broken...in regard to the ovals it's the engine that can't cope with close contact racing...so no ovals for Pcars1...
In regard to patches/fixes...Bruno already stated that if a breakthrough was found while developing Pcars2 it would quite possibly be used to patch-up Pcars1...

When something has to be re-written to solve some issues it's not a matter of fixing it. It's just not feasible to back port for an established game sometimes because it can break other areas and you wouldn't want to risk that.

Unlike never ending projects SMS decided to simply move on and fix, add, rewrite things for the next iteration and avoid further complications. No software company would do different.

Well, unless it's something like AC or iRacing and you can read about the issues when just "updating" their tyres multiple times. Some times it just goes wrong and then you'll have to way for the next update. And this is just one part of the sims code... Latest iteration from AC didn't even went to GT3 cars ;)

Different business models have their pros and cons in this case, better wait for pC2 (you won't regret it)

I would hope that with pC2 they set a team from the beginning to work on the broken ai. And with 16 + months in they figured it out soon. Then update/patch pC1 and release the oval tracks. It would be win, win situation for all involved and would go a long way for the future of the pCARS series and for the SMS name.
Come on , this is a bit harsh don't you think ? I have some great races with AI and some friends (ok, not with open wheelers i admit...) and we have a lot of fun battling against AI in GT3 class. There are some problems obviously like in any other racing game up to date, but it's already good IMO.

Don't worry though, pCARS 2 AI will be miles better

Not at all.......without the ovals we're missing 1/3 of the game and a lot of potential sales too.

Ovals are out of the equation for Pcars...possibly Pcars2...this has all been said before and (no offence) there is no need to bring that (heated) discussion up again...

They're out of the equation basically because of the current ai......in post #73, I was only pointing out that it would be advantageous to update pc1 if they ever do figure the ai out. It was purely directed as a possible good business decision in the long run only. Wasn't trying to start up the (heated) oval discussion again. :)

The thing is that the current AI can't be improved enough with the current engine to be able to handle close racing...

I dont feel Im missing 1/3rd of the game at all and i suspect a large portion of the user base does not either.

Any time I have tried ovals (playing and watching) it bores me to tears so I do not miss that.. one bit.. Probably best just to accept it wont happen for PC1.

At this stage I doubt there would be major sales shift if it was included. Makes sense to do it right for the next game though to keep USA peeps happy too.

Personally I'm not seeing how that would be a good business decision, only something good from a pC1 players' perspective? It gives pC2 less momentum if it cannot claim even better AI anymore compared to pC1. I also don't see how updating the AI in pC1 is going to generate any significant sales, it'll only make people who already own pC1 happier (and with that again potentially losing pC2 sales).

As discussed a million times on the forums there will not be ovals in PC1

You're right...so let's not mention ovals again...
(At least not in connection with Pcars1)

Type in "animated pitstop" in the "search" box and all will be revealed....

Ovals are pointless...and ultra boring. Don't spend a micro second developing it. I drove Richard Petty's racing school on ovals, and it was fun in real life, but in sims, yikes...

There are quite a few people who will disagree with that....let's keep the oval discussion closed before it gets ugly (again)

Ovals were promised in the run up to the release of project cars last year ,we have a lotus only oval 2 speed car and cars only for ovals in the dlc ,my USA friends are still annoyed at no ovals and so am I ,you project cars had them ovals in the advert to project cars last years,, I have an email from Sony saying ovals were passed and ready to go on to dlc last year, so some one put a stop to it .

Ovals were cancelled mainly because the current AI couldn't handle close racing...if you type in "ovals" in the search box you will come across the entire explanation...
Anyway, there have been numerous topics about them (good, bad and ugly...lol) so no need to bring all that back up again...

No patches have been planned? Now I feel like a fool. I just buy this game (month ago) and find out you can drive 'to infinity and beyond' with same tires and A.I. can drive full speed on sand/grass/whateverthatthingeverwas. i, a fool, was just thinking that next patch will fix all of that...

You just bought the game? Late to the party mate. We've had 10 patches since release. 10. Lots of things were added/changed/improved/fixed. Just check the other 9 patch release threads. You're not fool enough to have found this one.

Indeed, but from a development point of view pC1 will not get patches anymore because of cost vs benefit. Also, rumour has it that if SMS would issue another patch on PS4, they would be forced by Sony to remove Fanatec wheel support (which happened with AC fairly recently). So this may contribute to not issuing patches anymore on consoles.

We can understand cost vs benefit about patches but patches are same time "Thank you" for gamers :/ And I am not talking about me, I'm just been a month ProjectC gamer.

I don't really play anymore, but if Fanatec wheel support was removed, I would never buy Pcars 2 under any circumstance. I am already hesitant due to Ovals never making it into the game. I have a few "Must haves" for Pcars 2, that if it lacks, I won't buy the game. So we'll see what happens. But for me, I likely won't buy the game at launch anyway because there's no new Fanatec wheel for PS4, because Fanatec are idiots. And I don't want to switch to non load cell brake pedals lol. I esp don't want the logitech wheel, because I know it won't work on whatever next gen consoles come. And most of my friends who have gotten TM wheels have had them break.

It probably will work or have to buy a adapter from fanetce that's on there site by the way. And I thought ovals are in I just hope PS don't make people buy new wheels if so hmm!!! Sad way too do business that's why this world is a take take with a I don't care attitude .

Not sure what you mean here? A licensed PS4 wheel is being worked on, that takes time.

And I have read good reports of the Chronusmax device working very well to make current Fanatec wheels work on the PS4.
