I currently have the G29 but do you think the T300 RS would be a better upgrade and something worth investing?

I have a t300 and my co-worker has a g29 and when i played with his g29 it felt cheap compared to my t300. Not to mention all the different upgrade options with the eco system

How long have you had your t300? As I have heard they are not that reliable.

I have only had it a couple months as I just bought a ps4 but I have the TX with my Xbox one for about a year and never had an issue. All the issues I have heard about were with earlier generation models and havent heard of any issues as of late with newer generation

I had the very same dilemma as your having now...
I did a lot of research and the thrustmaster t300rs IMO is far superior in feedback than the G29 but I'm sure those users will chip in and add any advice.
I owned the G25 many moons ago on the PS3 and wasn't convinced back then but that was all there was in quality wise.......
I chose the t300rs for what I wanted out of a wheel and yes I worried about reliability and cheap peddles but I'm more than happy with my choice and to be honest the pedals ain't that bad I just doubled up some thick camping mat for the brake pedal and bobs ya uncle feels a lot better.
There is also loads of FFB settings on here for Pcars and I'm amazed at the feeling this what gives off which I doubt u will get with the G29 but again I'm going off of my experience with the older G25.
Hope this helps u decide but go with the t300rs u won't regret it.

I bought a T300 GTE a year ago as I preferred the buttons over the RS and I think it's a great wheel , mine had a noisy fan after about 7 months which if it was out of warranty id of sorted myself but I sent it back to thrustmaster and they sorted it , I was very happy with the service and a quick turnaround.

Thanks, I think I may stick with the g29 for now and later get a t300 as it seems better than the g29.

(I only got the g29 as it was on sale to 99.99 which is stupidly cheap.)

I have both. From a question of taste, I prefered the T300 over the G29.
My T300rs wheel base got crazy two weeks after the warranty expired, here is the last email I've got from Thrustmaster :

Regarding your T300 RS.

Thank you for the pictures provided.
We have forwarded these pictures to our engineers and unfortunately there isn't much we could do.
They have said that the issue doesn't seem repairable and we have no parts to send for this situation.
Once more we are sorry for the inconvenience.

And their recommendation was to buy another one.

That seems quite poor customer service, was this recent or one of the older models of the t300 rs?

I wouldn't necessarily say that, to thrustmasters defense it was outside the warranty time so what more can you Really expect from them. They sell the servo bases by themselves now so all you need to do is but a new t300 base

Buy a t300 from Amazon. I bought one of the first ones , it went wrong and the sent a new one the next day , no questions

Yes, but they could of done a tiny bit more than just letting it past and hoping you would buy a new one.

What tiny bit more would you expect them to do? If it's gone bad then it's gone bad and if it's not within warranty anymore than that is what it is

I don't expect them to fix it, I just found it a bit poor that they just told him to buy a new one, without really caring about the customer. Course the problem isn't nearly as bad now due to being able to buy a new base.

Have you tried a belt driven wheel? I come from a gear-drive background, and while it's different, I wouldn't spend the money to switch from a G29 to a T300RS.

Do you think so? How noticeable was the difference between the two?

If you have the possibility, drive Brands Hatch in PCars. The curbs after turn 3 (or is it 4?) are monsters. On the logitech you get the feeling of a toothsaw or a cogwheel that doesn't resemble driving a real car at all. (granted, I doubt that the curbs here are correctly modeled after the real thing :)
The T300 is much smoother at that location and feels to me and in regard to what I define as "reality" much better

pr0j3ct
05-04-2016, 17:12
I experienced that with my G29 and I can certainly agree it was loud and felt like sharp points on the curbs.

pr0j3ct
05-04-2016, 17:13
In fact I try and not raced on Brands Hatch because of this.

Is anyone still having issues with their t300 calibration anymore? Or have they been fixed?

Edit: Does anyone know what the latest versions model number is?

On T300 the more prominent curbs, like the ones in Watkins Glen feel like i'm going over rubber (I haven't played Brands Hatch since I got the T300), in my old DFGT it was as described above, cogs rattling. That's what the belt does i guess.

A tiny bit more would have been to offer a refurbished base or a new base with a discount at the very least. It was past warranty for two weeks only, is it normal to buy a base every year or so ? The biggest problem is when they say there is nothing they can do, it cannot be true but probably not economically repairable would have been a better answer. In good faith they could have done a tiny bit more, I asked and was denied any compensation or help. I am done with them for sure and will not buy the base, moved to something else already.

It was bought in the fall of 2014, so I believe it was one of the first models.

Does the Thrustmaster supply 2yr warranty here in U.K.? As I know in America it is only one.

I have a g290 after having 2 Thrustmaster TX go wrong, I am very pleased with it and feel it gets a bit of a hard time, I feel it gets a lot of criticism from people that have not used it, my personal opinion is it is as good as the TX just a little different.

Nothing wrong with my G29, I love it in fact.
At the price I paid I can put up with the "foibles" mentioned above, I wear headphones when driving so noise don't bother me.

I have Both the T300 and G29.
I've always thought the G29 felt more responsive ( quicker to react ) to the FFB. the T300 feels a bit rubbery / late to respond every so slightly.
And with tuning, the G29 gets almost as strong as the t300, but Strong FFB is Not the same thing as GOOD ffb.

I think the G29 is Better.

But that is my thought. each user experience will be different.

Also, You can Not compare the DFGT or Logitech PRO to the G27 or the G29 / G920.
these are very Different Wheels.
I also had a DFGT for a Long time. The G27 / G29 is better..

Bottom line...
if you Get a G29, you will be happy with it.. It's a Darn Good Wheel..
if you Get a T300, you will be happy with it.. It's a Darn Good Wheel..

I definitely would. Belt driven is better than gear-driven, just like direct drive is better than belt driven.

I received my Thrustmaster T300RS today, along with the VG T3PA-Pro pedals. Expecting the wheel stand later this week. When my wife freaks out over how much I've spent, I'm going to call it my graduation present to myself. Now I have to figure out how to order the shifter and I'm good. I own and have used the Logitech G27 on PC in the past, so once I get this all set up I can try to compare.

Its way better than the g27. That's what I replaced. I highly recommend the ricmotech short throw kit for the shifter and you may want to get the load cell for the brake. Don't worry we wont tell her.

Load cell from ricmotech too is a must buy. Just don't look at the new custom Thrustmaster wheels on ricmotech site. You won't have a wife any longer with their price tags.

I love the load cell and the short throw kit for the shifter but I don't know if I could bring myself to spend that much for another inch in wheel diameter over the 599. But I do wish thrustmaster would just make all the wheels at least as big as the 599 and offer a 12.6 inch one as an upgrade. Its amazing how much of a difference that inch makes. No pun intended.lol

WTH MAN!!!

my comment wasn't a stab at you...

but once you have used a load cell on the brake,
you'll feel the same way about that rubber cone thing...
as good as you think that rubber cone is now, the Load cell is far, far better...

I haven't actually installed the rubber cone on mine, although it was in the packaging.

I'm digging the Thrustmaster T300. I like my G27, but prefer the FFB on the TM - under oversteer I really feel the weight of the car as I catch it. Went ahead and sprung for the TH8A shifter.

Definitely at least do that. It better that all that travel and no resistance.
