Hello,

This isn't one of those "hate " post's, I love Project Cars, I love the new Pagani Huayra BC, but I hate all the turbo whistles and whoose's which sound so loud compared to the engine. Is it just me, compare & contrast..

In Car from Project Cars: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dno-Ehr__N0 ( not my clip!)
In Car ( actual ) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F9qunm70VDk

Note, there are no whistles and whooses from the actual car! Please Project Cars, turn the comedy noises down please, let me hear the sound of that beast of an engine!

Thank you!

They are there but alot quieter in the real one. I quite like the way the game one sounds tho, dat turbo flutter <3

If I crank the volume and lower the bass I can hear the whistles and "woosh" noises in that video, they are faint but that could easily be explained by the far from optimum mic it is recorded with.

It could be that the sounds are exaggerated in pCARS, but they are not something they have just added in.

EDIT: The sounds are a lot more prevalent in this clip, https://youtu.be/JK-WbXlPIcM?t=1m18s .

We've said it before, and we should remember it now: The difference a change of microphone makes can be absolutely insane, it can change the nature of the sound completely. Combine that with the sound processing video cameras tend to do to reduce stuff like wind noises etc. and YouTube's algorithms as well, and it can be really dang hard to know what's what.

Turbo noises are awesome.

and its's sad, that the front- and rearwings still are not animated in replays! not really understandable for a high-class-simulation like pcars....
anyway, the best racing-game/sim i have played s

Yeah, replay limitations suck, hopefully pCARS 2 will improve upon those, I'd definitely love to see the dynamic aero stuff actually be properly dynamic and not just on/off in replays.

Try multiplayer all turbo noises don't work... problem solved.

But seriously fix this already it is paid for DLC that is not working incomplete!

I'm not an expert on this but...it sounds like there is a "generic" sample used on most turbo cars with a phssss sound that seems REALLY LOUD :)

Can someone confirm that this is generally A LOT louder than a race engine IRL, or there is some sound volume balancing out of whack at the moment.

(the gear shift on Pagani Huayra BC sounds really LOUD also :) )

I'm all for LOUD but more on the TIRE squeal.

Don't know. Only drove the BC a few laps in FP. Goes bloody alright.
And the turbo noises were so juvenile at every shift it was great xD

if only there was an option to get the exterior sound with interior view
is of course not reality, but the sound is just so nice

didn't know it was possible.
Was there an option to switch?
or more like a bug?

Anyway, the corvette sound from outside is a beast!

would that be difficult to implement?
Unfortunately, I don't have any hope for PCars1.
Even though it would be really really nice

Afaik, you were able to use the exterior view, but move the point of view back inside the car where your normal cockpit cam was.

Even though it would be really really niceIt was never possible once the game went 'gold' :). It was only available during testing via an extra dev-menu we all had access to. I don't think you'll see it make a re-appearance in pCARS1.

At least doesn't have that mega understeer of the standard version

I remember thinking that turbo on the Audi 100 was really cool... for about 2 laps then it got annoying.

Why can't SMS extend their excellent sounds to things like turbo and transmission? Kinda sick of hearing the same constant transmission whine since NFS Shift 1...
Surely we have the technology for dynamic sound filters by now. For example, how quickly you lift off the throttle and at what revs will determine the volume, flutter frequency, pitch, length.

Edit: also want to second that "exterior sound in cockpit view" comment. I've mentioned this before, but it bears repeating.

If we are extending this discussion to using alternate view sounds, I put my vote in for being able to use the muffled helmet cam sound mix with the helmet overlay disabled.

I think most of the noise of huyara comes from mobile wings that go up and down

Well, from my experience these big turbos are sounding completely shit in real cars - I saw some at the Nordschleife and even as a spectator the engine sound of a new Porsche Turbo was completely covered by the turbo noise. I think it is the same with the Huayara. At least in some videos I saw with the nomal one the guys driving it were saying that you basically get blasted away from that turbo noise. I think it is just characteristical for this car.

I never had this problem. I don't think I ever drove with the default setup though. If anything my setup tends to have oversteer. I think what you meant was that your setup or the default setup had this problem.

The Bc has a default high acc lock that makes it quite nasty at some corners, i tried at spa and at pouhon and stavelot exit i got oversteer (with TC enabled)

I can't comprehend a complaint about the turbo sounds being too loud? Only time I can hear the turbos is if I play offline. Turbo sounds are missing on lots of cars when you play multiplayer, its a real bummer because I love me some intense turbo spooling sound, instead of some generic motor sound.

Default setup looks odd on this car when compared to the other Huayra, the BC has softer springs and a higher ride height, whilst I can understand the softer spring to a certain extent as the car is lighter but not half the strength (166 plays 80 on the front end). Considering this is a hardcore track biased car the numbers don't seem to make sense?!

It is fun to drive though :)

Be very interesting to see the physics numbers when it comes to motion ratios, unsprung weights and damper switch over speeds to see how the under the skin stuff compares between the two cars...

Will indeed be interesting to see if there are any changes. FWIW it could be Pagani "coming to their senses", the original Huayra supposedly ran springs used on the Zonda R, which makes for a really damn stiff setup (2.7 Hz front, 2.4 Hz rear), perhaps too stiff. Using the unsprung weights and motion ratios from the base Huayra and substituting weight and weight distribution from the BC, it still comes out at just over 2 Hz, which is Porsche 911 GT3 range (also a very track oriented car), not soft by any means. I definitely feel like the BC works better on the road tyres, whether that's due to a softer setup or just an otherwise improved car I can't say for sure. =)

Of course it could be that there have been changes in the underpinnings and the motion ratios have changed. The default springs on the Huayra bring the wheel rates close to 75 N/mm, if the Huayra BC had 1:1 motion ratios applied at both ends this car would have a slightly stiffer front and a slightly softer rear wheel rate.

Is that currently a limitation in the engine ot did they do it on purpose to keep the frames as close to 60 as possible?

It redlines at 6100 RPM in the game by the way which I find annoying because the actual Huayra BC redlines at 6500 RPM.
