Hello everyone,

After i have been playing Project Cars some time now with the DS4 controller, i think it's time to upgrade to an actual steering wheel + pedals.

Now, my budget isn't enornmous so i think i have 2 alternatives. But the thing is that i have no experience in the racing wheel world. So i would like to hear from the specialists which wheel and pedals would be best to buy.

My options are:

- Brand new Thrustmaster T150 with the pedals it comes with and a Wheelstand pro V2

or

- Used Fanatec Porsche 911 Turbo S wheel with H-shifter and sequential shifter and Clubsport V2 pedals, Clubsport tuning kit and Fanatec wheelstand

The second one costs me about €20,- more, but i think the pedals will be a lot better then those that come with the Thrustmaster due to the realistic brake feel. Also, the shifters are a plus for me.

What are your thoughts?

P.S. i hope i posted this in the right section.

does the fanatec deal come with the wheel base?

Well it's not a detachable steering wheel with the high end Fanatec wheel base. It's simply the complete steering whsel with base, based on a real Porsche 911 Turbo S, that Fanatec brought out somewhere in 2007 or 2008 i believe.

The choice is up to you really...the Fanatec seems better but remember there's no warranty on a second hand wheel...

Well i'm really not that concerned about that. It's a risk i'm willing to take. What does concern me is how a almost ten year old design stands up to a relatively new wheel. Or can i assume that an almost 10 year old high end wheel is comparable to a lower spec recent wheel in terms of force feedback and accuracy?

Can you try out the Fanatec before buying? If yes and if it's in good shape I'd go for the Fanatec.

Well Mate , ive got the Fanatec GT2 with CSR Elite pedals new since September and love it , similar to the turbo s i think (is turbo s belt driven ) GT2 is belt driven. But at the moment Fanatec and Sony aren't friends meaning no first party games will work , eg. Gran Turismo ,Drive Club . But pCars ,Dirt Rally , WRC 5 , Seb Rally , F1 2015 and more do .
I really want a wheel to play Gran Turismo Sport in November so i just bought a new T150 and have to say it is very ordinary IMHO compared to my Fanatec especially those pedals , wow are they bad . Fanatec almost full metal construction and load cell compared to cheap cheap plastic and the Fanatec wheel is just so much quieter and smoother , the T150 has a fair bit of gear noise and is a bit rougher with a some gear feel . . But for me the Thrustmaster will do the job (just) for all first party games and the Fanatec for everything else and just hope that Fanatec and Sony can come to some arrangement in the near future so i dont have to use the T150 for to long .
Hope that helps . Good luck .

And the ClubSport v2 pedals are a step up from my CSR Elite pedals so they should be awesome .

Turns out the pedals are probably V1. Are they any good and should i still go for Fanatec and try to reduce the price, or cancel the deal?

Bought it anyway. Now the long wait for it to arrive.

Big Dad: as it seems, all Fanatec Porsche wheels are technically identical, so i'm gonna try and use the settings mentioned in your signature. Can't wait!

Congratulations, should be fun.
I've got 2 lots of settings with slight differences, try them both. Mainly it's the scoops and deadzone i think make the biggest differences.
Have fun.
