With the 1070 and rumors of the 1080 ti coming about, I figure I look at benchmarks. My GTX 970 has to run at 800x600 just to get good framerates :( :p

It seems the only benchmark I could find that gives any sort of perspective is from Tweakers.net. I guess better than none.

I am okay shelling out the dough for the 1080 ti when it comes out in Q4, but it seems the 1070's value is just might be unmatched.

Are there any more VR benchmarks for this game or any other racing game for that matter? I am wondering if the 1080 ti will be worth the wait.

Why do you have to run 800x600? That shouldn't affect how the rift settings are, that is just for your main menu as far as I'm aware.

Oh I've cranked up the settings to much higher and it just is stuttery as heck, there is no doubt in my mind the game processes less pixels when you set it to lower res.

The resolution settings is only affecting the resolution of the game displayed on your monitor/tv, not the one displayed in the headset.
I do have a 970 too, and you will find the settings I use to play in my sign. Here is a video of how it look like on my pc (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7p23QciB89Y) (remember the image quality is quite deteriorated once displayed in the headset).

As for the benchmark, the VR ones are very sparse, especially for the 1070.
Road to VR (http://www.roadtovr.com/nvidia-gtx-1080-benchmark-review-performance-head-to-head-against-the-980ti/) (english) published a benchmark of the 1080 against a 980Ti using pcars.
ETR (http://www.etr.fr/test/3590-test-gtx-1060-la-carte-graphique-quot-entree-de-gamme-quot-est-elle-reellement-suffisante-en-realite-virtuelle.html) (french but charts are understandable) published a benchmark of the 1060 against the 980Ti using pcars.

Are you saying you think you're running in 800*600 in VR? You aren't if that's the case, you're running at whatever the native resolution of your VR headset is set to. As otheres have said the resolution is only for the mirrored display.

If you are talking about what you have to in 2D then you need to look at your performance settings and what CPU you have. The 970 should run a lot better than that in 2D
