Why is Pcars VR locked to 1080p?

I'm quite sure that it will not work worst in 1440p. I'm able to use VSR at 1440p without much issue.

pCARS isn't locked to 1080p though. I had a 4K monitor for a few days and I was able to set the resolution to 3840x2160.

This is the monitoring screen not the vr headset.
The max that you can get with your vr headset is 1080p for both eyes.

Oh, sorry, missed the section this was in :o

There is a new setting available in the latest patch for PC (11.2), that enables supersampling on the Rift. See this thread (http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/showthread.php?49318-Project-CARS-PC-Patch-11-2-Release-notes) . I'm not aware of VSR or NVidia's DSR feature working on the Rift at all in any game with the direct mode.

Supersampling does not add details.
You can't get nativ 1440p.

VR isn't locked at 1080P. The retail version of the Rift used direct input only so no matter what the source is rendered at its native resolution of 1080x1200 per eye.

The increase pixel density, although not as good as increased native resolution, does increase the sharpness of the rendered environment, which does increase details. In DCS you can read dials better with higher pixel density.

The max resolution is locked and that's my question.
I don't know if it is locked by steam or by PCars that's my question too.
Buy a Pimax 4K which is a vr headset with a 4K screen and you will be able to check that you can't get Pcars working in 1440p.

Probably because pCARS only officially supports the HTC/Steam Vive and the Oculus Rift, both of which run at 2160x1200 (1080x1200 per eye) so, at a guess, it will have been coded to run at that resolution and no higher. It doesn't matter that other, higher resolution, headsets may be available now or in the future, pCARS only supports the current iterations of the Rift and Vive at their native resolutions and I doubt that is going to change.

You misunderstand me gp20. Project CARS, the game we have right now, only officially supports the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive and this is what is very unlikely to change.

I've done dime more research on the Pimax 4k headset. The biggest issue is that even though it has a 4k display it still has only a HDMI 1.2 input, so it can only recieve a 4k 30hz input.
