Hi,
I recently bought project cars from the PlayStation store for my PS4 but it won't load. It gets to the SlightlyMadStudios screen but that's it.
I've tried various things so far including deleting, reinstalling, restoring my whole PlayStation, creating a back up database, creating a static IP, opened port, tried starting it without a network connection, restored the PlayStation back to default settings. NAT is type 2. Nothing's seems to work.

Any help would be much appreciated?
Thank you

Has it completely installed? It does take a long time to do this with a disk, maybe even longer for the digital version.

I've previously waited up to 5 minutes to see if anything changes, I end up having to close the application. Just left it for an hour at this screen and still nothing changed.

Leave the PS in rest mode overnight (with internet connection and downloads enabled).
The game should take a long time to download.

It's already downloaded 100%??

Refund. Get the disc version.
I haven't had or heard of this issue, especially with a fresh reinstall.

Gutted :-( disc version is like double the price at the moment. Nothing else that can be done?

Do you have the Internet connected thru cable?
Wireless seems to cause issues sometimes...
Also make sure no apps are running on the background...

I'm clueless honestly...:(
I googled the problem but you tried all the solutions i found already...
Maybe you can get your hands on a second hand hard copy?
Lousy solution but as hkraft said it's probably a faulty download issue...
(Did you see my edit on the apps?)

One more option:
Go to system storage ->remove ->project cars
This is a quick delete which someone tried with GTA5 after an endless loading screen...
Fingers crossed

...or...sign out of PSN -> start game stil disconnected from PSN

Been to system storage and there isn't a project cars file to delete.

Spoke to PlayStation before, the person said after she went into my account she could see I purchased it, but also mentioned I hadn't downloaded it. Obviously advised I had and the system says it is. Wonder if that's where the problem lies? She didn't know what to do though, or what that meant. Anybody got any idea?

I suggest you delete it (again) but check every folder on your system so you are sure it's completely deleted...then install again and be sure it's installed completely...this takes a while (it may say downloaded but as long as you can only race at Dubai it isn't)

Ok PlayStation refunded me. So I deleted it, checked all the folders, nothing in them containing project cars. Turned off playstation, went into safe mode, restored default settings, rebuilt database. Rebooted PlayStation. Gone to PS store and purchased again, just waiting for it to download. I understand it won't load until the first bit is complete but I should still be able to get to the menus right after that? Whole thing has been downloaded previously, still froze at the Slightly mad studios screen.

Wait it out for a bit...it should say downloaded (which it isn't actually) but you should be able to do a race at Dubai while everything else is still locked...

Konan

So...any luck?
You should be able to play at least the Dubai race by now...

The first part has downloaded which should in theory allow me to access the menus, just tried loading and it's stuck again at the same screen :,-(
About 1 hour away till the full game is downloaded but can't see that changing anything.

Well it's full downloaded and still not working. Has there been any updates? Cause when I go on update history it says version 1.01 day one patch. But if I go check up updates, it says it's the most up to date?

Hi, yes they're set to automatically download. Nothing queuing to download though :-( any idea how I can download the updates?

Konan

They should do so by themselves...have you tried starting the game thru notifications->downloads->patch?
Maybe that will trigger it....

Just (another) idea...
Settings->system->automatic downloads->updatefiles for apps (buttom option) do you have all the boxes checked?

Try to update manually to get all the patches.

Konan

Also on the project cars logo press "option" button->check for update (second from the top)

Random thought - have you tried starting it whilst the PS4 is offline? (In settings, untick the 'connect to internet' box).
PCars does take a while to load, but I'm sure the splash screen in your video should disappear fairly quickly.

[edit]
From looks of your first post, yes is the answer

Everything i know of has been tried.
Are your other games loading ok?

Darb595

It is strange, I did find another thread on the forum with someone who had the same issue with the disc version, but there was no solution then either. Yeah everything else works perfect, just this one game :-(

Konan
16-01-2017, 00:59
What i find strange is that your system doesn't seem to find the patches to download?
I think that's the issue that causes the screen to freeze...
Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a solution for that but maybe if you turn off the "automatic updates" you can try to "force" the system to look for them?

Could be a PSN License issue..
I've got 3 PS4's, and only the Primary PS4 will allow a game to be played while offline.
the Other two, must be connected to get the License Info from the PSN.

If the Tech told you, your account didn't show it as being downloaded, then maybe the PSN is not sending you the License to Use it.

try what's in this video.. Restore License

Just tried that, went to automatic downloads unticked all the boxes, pressed options on PC then check for updates and still the same, says it's the most up to date.

Well I've phone PlayStation and they've escalated it further for someone to investigate. I've now got to wait on a email response but they couldn't tell me how long that would be. I'll keep you posted.

It's ok, I understand there's a minor isssue somewhere, I just need to find someone who's come across this before and fixed it. Hopefully whoever it's been escalated too cares enough to find a resolution rather than just issuing me a refund.

They finally refunded me! Noticed the normal edition is now on sale (digital copy) do we think it's worth a go at downloading that instead? Or if game of the edition didn't work, it's unlikely this will?
