I remember the whole DX12 debacle back in PC1 and how it unfolded.

LOL!! What? What debacle? pCARS1 only ever supported 9 and 11.

There was talk though of maybe upgrading to 12 but it didnt pan out. I’d hardly call it a debacle.

it would be nice to see dx12 but its not necessary.

dx12 or Vulkan might be the only way to get 100 car lemans race :P, remember the 10 times more draw calls.

Thats not only a graphics related problem.

There are older CPU and superseded CPU that are not even in use yet let alone recent GPU related stuff.

It's not in nvidia or AMD interest to use DX12 either (theory conspiracy here) because this way they can sell newer GPU's whilst current ones could last quite a bit longer...

Then DEVs need to code once not having "two" render engines depending on the user hw and since people take their time to update.

I know so many that can barely run rF2 or AC, let alone recent titles.

So, the move to newer (and faster and better) tech be it software or hw related it'll take a while.

Blame economy :D

People with at least haswell CPU will take advantage in pC2 from AVX instructions but your CPU is older, tough luck. But at least there was (a very late) effort to give us (who are able to) a bit more performance.

DX12... see ya in 2020 :p

I would also think it's network related (know from experience how difficult it can be to get 64 players, or let alone +128 on a server...) but they may want to consider changing their game engine.

why should they. The game engine is their own development and in that case license free for them.

While gfx engine quality may affect number of rendered objects, it doesn't mean 100 competing cars can't be handled by weaker gfx cards. Limiting number of rendered cars is common technique. You don't have to render all 100 cars. 20 or even less closest to your position is good enough.

we'll save the 100 cars for wreckfest.
