Hi there,

I see all the beautiful and detailled liveries in PC2, but unfortunately we're missing any historical advertising of tobacco and alcohol due to PEGI restrictions. Will there be any way apart from custom liveries to get the original liveries in the game (maybe a future update or something else)?

Nope... No tobacco or alcohol advertisements.

Tobacco advertising was banned years ago (across Europe) and has nothing to do with the PEGI rating...
(Too bad or my car would look like this)

The recent NASCAR games have allowed for Alcohol sponsorship, viewable if you are over 21 years old. Since it is banned in Europe completely though I doubt we would ever see that in PCARS

Alcohol advertising is not banned completely in Europe... might be in some countries, but not where I am.

However, SMS must consider restrictions on any market where they want to sell the game... so I guess the strictest rule applies!

Maybe SMS can give an option to avoid these restrictions by user content. It's a pity to see all the "Racing" liveries.

I wouldn't call Miller Light alcohol though...

^I thought it was essentially another "bottle water" brand, no? ;)

If I remember correctly the Rothmans livery was included on the Porsche 962C in the Forza Motorsport 4 Porsche expansion pack, thanks to some loophole with DLC and that type of content. In at least Forza Motorsport 3 (Porsche was available on-disc at launch at that time) the 962C was indeed missing that part of the livery.

I'm sure we can have tobacco liveries if we paste a huge "Smoking kills" decal on the cars as well! ;)

I'd rather have no tobacco/alcohol skin at all than to have it messed up by (obvious) messages...(being a smoker/drinker myself has nothing to do with it... )

While I 'understand' the alcohol/tobacco advertising ban (as if that helped anything), I don't see why the cars that drove before that era can't have the original ads on the liveries ? They drove before the ban, so...
A Gr5 Capri needs a BASTOS livery (e.g.) imo...

Also: Many of the tobacco brands advertised in those days doesn't exist anymore... Like Rothmans and JPS. Having them on a livery is not advertising, strictly speaking.

JPS still exists in Belgium....if i can believe my son...he was talking about it only yesterday.

Yes, it appears that JPS is still around... at least on some markets. Not the global brand it once was.

Yeah...when i was young(er) you couldn't see ten cars pass without at least one of them having some kind of JPS "livery" (sticker)....that and the infamous "eagle on the hood"

Let me get this straight. Under 21s can see alcohol sponsorship on cars on tv and when they see the race live, but they can't see it in a game. What ass-backwards bizzaro world are we all living in?

The only beer Miller makes that's even remotely passable as beer is their Genuine Draft. It's as close you'll get to a slightly watered down Single Hop Pilsner outside Germany.

It's "technically" beer.

With the increase in deaths related to energy drinks I wonder how long until advertising is under scrutiny for them , Should it happen I'd be surprised but not totally . Personally I think some of the best looking liveries have had sponsorship with Alchohol or Cigarettes but I've never felt compelled to smoke just because I liked the look of them.

Some people are easily influenced though...

Some pc racing games, like Raceroom, do have tobacco and alcohol advertisements on the official(no mod) liveries. So is it fair to say it's only a problem on console ?

A new product has to be advertised...otherwise no one knows it exists...
That's not strictly advertising...that's more educating
Pcars sells itself...LOL
