Hello,

For some reason the server crashes if you try to load the HTTP API interface from an external computer (not from the same computer you're hosting the server from).

Loading it from the same computer as where its hosted:

Can someone try to reproduce this issue?

Check this post:

Copy and paste on your config.cfg and it should work with user name and password on it.

Hi Kevin, SMS dev here. Could you post the server.cfg of the crashing DS?

Also, could you provide more details on the host and client? OS of the host, OS of the client, web browser used....
Were the two machines in the same local network? What URL and port did the client use?

We are trying to reproduce the error but it seems to happen in a certain combination of these variables...

Thanks!

Hello,

The config is the config_sample provided by you.
The host is a windows server 2012 OS installed in a dedicated s erver.
The client is a windows 10 pro OS (desktop computer)
And the browser does not change anything, happens with them all. I tested with ports from all ranges ( 9000 - 9100 ) and other combinations, same issue.

Thanks. Are the host and client in the same local network? Is it accessed by its LAN IP?

No they're not. Its a dedicated server as mentioned, so its hosted in a datacenter externally.

In order to enable the web interface and HTTP API, some minimal changes to server.cfg are required. Could you post the server.cfg? It could shed some light on what could be causing the issue. Thanks!

Hello,

It can never be a config issue when it works for other people (connecting externally aswell). So for some it works, for me (for example) it crashes when I try to load it.

Hi, yes, it does point to that, as we have externally connected successfully other combinations of OSs and browsers. However, if we want to discard options (as it could as well be a combination of host/client OS + certain config values -- we don't know yet), in cases like this where it's required to look at all cases, the more information the better :)

Thanks!

I tested your server.cfg (changing the httpApiInterface IP) in a Windows Server 2012 hosting the DS, and accessed from Windows 10, but the crash didn't happen. The IP address I set in httpApiInterface was the local (LAN) IP of the server, determining the interface to bound; if I put the public IP, the HTTP web GUI (and API) doesn't start (only that -- the server can continue working, though), but that's not the same case you're reporting (a crash).

Could you send the logs of the server crashing? They're located in C:\Users\<user>\Documents\Project CARS 2 - Dedicated Server\dbgSession\

EDIT: could you also try leaving the httpApiInterface value to "" in server.cfg?
