Playback controls on replay

I might be missing something here but is there a way to turn of the playback controls display on replay? It's a huge box and takes up a lot of the bottom of the screen and seems strange there's not an option to hide it. Shame as I love the timings display on the top left.

No what I meant was can I get rid of the playback controls but keep the rest of the his showing on replay? I love the race position widget but if you press Y it gets rid of everything.
