I've not managed to complete a race yet without a PC crash.

Windows 10
GTX 1080Ti
i7 4790k
32GB Ram

I'm playing in VR with HTC Vive.

I've already tried (having read elsewhere these may help)

Uninstalled MSI Afterburner
Excluded the Project Cars 2 folder and the PCars 2 folder in 'my documents' from Virus protection
Tried SteamVR Beta nnd the normal version of SteamVR
Reinstalled Project Cars 2 to a different SSD

None of these have had any effect.

I have only got medium specs set for graphics. SteamVR SS is set to 1.0 in-game 1.6 (My rig should be capable of more)

Doesn't seem to be any underlying problem with the PC all other software is running as usual. Other games have maxed out settings.

Please help.

Is it OK just playing on screen rather than in VR ?

also, what controller?

I'm using a logitech G920 with the logitech LGS software.

The wheel has been working fine when I do get on the track, the set-up was easy within the game.

EDIT: No it doesn't work on the monitor either.

I'm having the same issue. When I go to race in VR, I only get the hud screens, everything else is black. I can hear the car and see the mirror, but no environment or car. Was working fine on launch day but since yesterday, I can't race. Updated the the gtx1070 drivers, updated the Oculus.
Windows10
GTX 1070
i7 4770k
16GB Ram

Have a look in the windows event logs to see if you get any clues from there.

What AA method are you using?

I'm using msaa, still not showing car. only hud, mirrors and sound. How can I do a complete fresh reinstall. I've noticed that when I do a reinstall(from steam), it's not a fresh install, it still shows my progress. Very frustrating to buy a game for VR when the car and environment are a black screen. Game plays fine on monitors.

After you close PC2, there will be a "Project CARS 2 - Workshop Content" sync which will appear as a download in Steam.. That has nothing to do with game files. However, you should check the game's integrity in Steam if you haven't. I'd be curious if anything downloads.

Thank you, I'll check that out. This problem is mind numbing. I have no issues with PCars1 plays in VR amazing.

I've gone through every fix I could think and read about no change. Then I read on the Steam discussion forum someone said they re-installed windows. Last resort? Yes but I was at that stage.

And hey it has worked. All running fine now. Did two full races yesterday no crashes, other than on track :)

I can't give a reason why. Could be a huge amount of reasons I suppose.

I'm sure there will be a few more who will bang their heads on a wall for a while then fix with a Windows reinstall..

But, the issue to me sounds like another thread. It might be a PSU issue.
