View Full Version : Lots of Crashes

So I have had over a dozen crashes so far. They appear to happen randomly, whether it's online, offline, practice, quick play...doesn't matter. I get a bugsplat message and I have been typing in everything about the race and what happened up to when it crashed everytime, but I feel like I am one of the only ones getting this many frequent crashes now. Sometimes I can play for over and hour sometimes it crashes 5-10 minutes back to back. I have uninstalled the game and installed it on another drive to see if that would help, it didn't. I have the latest Nvidia driver and my specs are i5 4690k 16gb ram 1080ti using HTC Vive. I tried without using vive and I thought that was it, but nope had two more crashes on just monitor. Is there a way to open these files I am sending to dig through to see if I can narrow down the problem? I'll attach an image of one of the bug splats I got.

Dont think there will be anything beneficial to you in the BugSplat files, they are meant for the developers.

Check the Windows Event Viewer System and Application logs at the time of the crashes and this should give you an indication as to what is happening at or just before the crash.

Keep submitting bugsplat, with explanation as possible. That goes directly to the guys who know how to solve it:)

thanks!

How do I check Windows Event Viewer System Application logs? Just had two more bug splats. sigh.

Edit. Ok that looks pretty complicated. Any hint to what I should be looking for?

From the crash error I see this.
The following information was included with the event:

projectcars2
pCARS2AVX
7795

"application crash" it should say in the title

Anything logged as an "error" at the time of the crash.

This was one from yesterday I found though maybe more helpful?
But I think it's different as I dont see a bug splat so maybe that one was just a one off?

Typically, you want to look for errors before the hang.. i.e. the hang is the result and we are looking for the cause (which should be shortly before the hang).

Well that's not good then. The only errors that I see are the bugsplat ones. I'll keep digging.

Got another crash same thing, but no bug splat to report and 3 different errors this time. Hopefully one of these can help narrow down my problem. I just uninstalled my video card drivers using DDU and reinstalled them and thought hey that fixed it then 20 minutes into the race in career (of course 2nd to last lap as I was winning) and it crashed. :(

Two more crashes, just doing a race around Soma in the career. No other windows events only the bug splat. I will be doing a complete fresh install soon see if I can narrow down the problem I guess. Getting very frustrated.

I can't really read these Microsoft error xml files, but it mentions a problem in a PhysX .dll file. What nVidia driver are you using? Could you try and remove/re-install PhysX, or if that doesn't work, the whole nVidia driver (which contains PhysX)? Assuming that you're using an nVidia card of course.
Please also try a File Cache Integrity Check for pC2 in Steam.

What is your system configuration?

Sure I am using the latest driver with the project cars 2 update in it. I uninstalled the whole driver using DDU once I kept getting the errors and installed it fresh. I assume that reinstalled PhysX as well with the driver? I also uninstalled PC2 and reinstalled it to another hard drive to see if that also might have something to do with it, it didn't though. I'll run a File Cache Intergrity Check again I did it before I uninstalled and reinstalled it the first time as well.

My specs are i5 4690k (it was overclocked i reverted back to stock to see if that helped any), 16gb ram , 1080ti aorus extreme. I also uninstalled and reinstalled drivers for my Fanatec wheel, I have the Fanatec v2.5 with universal wheel hub, csv 3 pedals and shifter. I ordered a 500gb Samsung SSD that should be here in a couple of days. I'll try a complete windows reinstall and full format and go from there. That'll be a days work unfortunately.. but i'm just stumped.

If you are not OCing, try to undeclock your card. I had some random crashes with otherwise stable everywhere else overclocking.

Just tried it, was worth a shot. Still got a crash on my second race. It doesn't appear to be at certain times, it still has a big randomness to it. Only the bug splat reporting error showed up under event reviewer. also did run File Cache Integrity Check and renamed the Project Cars 2 folder in Documents (figured worth a shot someone else reported this helped). No good yet, :( Think my only options now appear to be hope that a complete format/fresh install fixes it or hope that a new patch fixes it. I hoped in some iracing for a couple of hours to see if I could recreate a similiar instance, but it chugged along fine. I'll try some in AC now too I guess. Sucks on that last race I was in first place at Texas Motor speedway was a really good race too 3 or 4 cars on my tail the whole time and I was fighting em off.. lol my wife even came in to see what I was getting all worked up about. Pretty anticlimatic to be a so close to the win and to lose it. I haven't booted it back up, at least it was a career race can do it again. :/

Update: Was able to play 3 hour session no crash. I did a fresh install of windows and wiped pretty much everything from HardDrive, so hopefully whatever software bug was causing it is fixed. It seems this is more than likely an isolated problem that was caused by interference on something on my end. Thanks everyone for the help, I will report back if it crashes/happens again. Cross my fingers looks like whatever it was is now fixed.

Apparently an ntdll.dll error can have many different root causes (https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-fix-ntdll-dll-errors-2624474).

I would start with trying:
- checking pCARS2 game file cache integrity in Steam
- disabling/uninstalling GeForce Experience
- re-installing nVidia driver (clean install)
- re-installing pCARS2

The problem has been determined to be a usb issue with the Accuforce wheel. Many others have this same problem when using this wheel. I also have the Accuforce and my game has crashed many times. I hope this gets resolved very soon.

Do you have the same physx error, or just the game crashing very often?

Hi Remco,

The sim crashes specially when starting a race or practice session. But it also has happened (less often) when trying to get in the set up editor.

As stated above, the crash has to do with the Accuforce wheel. Accuforce needs to fix this together with SMS IIRC.

Apparently an ntdll.dll error can have many different root causes (https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-fix-ntdll-dll-errors-2624474).

I would start with trying:
- checking pCARS2 game file cache integrity in Steam
- disabling/uninstalling GeForce Experience
- re-installing nVidia driver (clean install)
- re-installing pCARS2

Seems to be a driver issue.. I uninstalled all nVidia drivers and also the sound card drivers and made sure everything was cleanly removed before i installed the drivers again.. I don't know what messed up the drivers but it could be the Windows 10 updates. I don't update drivers through WU but for sure the updates messes up the graphics and audio drivers anyway somehow.

Here is a tool to remove the nvidia cleanly
