As title Project Cars 2 is not detecting my G29 most of the time. The G29 shows up in device manager and works with other games but not project cars 2 unless i unplug the G29 and restart my pc then plug it back in and load pCars 2 asap. Its starting to become annoying to have to restart my pc every time i want to play some Project cars so thought i better post :)

All my drivers are up to date including USB drivers.

system specs are,

Ryzen 7 1700
MSI B350 Gaming Pro Carbon - Latest Bios
16gig DDR 4 3200mhz Corsair Vengeance LPX
Gigabyte 1050ti
Samsung 960 Evo m.2 Nvme drive for pCars 2 and windows 10 pro x64
Evga 500 watt psu with the 80 rating

Logitech G29 and shifter with Drivers 8.96.81 and firmware 89.0.25

What version USB port are you using, 2 or 3?
If 3 then try 2.

Yeah im using 3.1 gen 1 on the front of my case but using the USB 2 ports is not that straight forward ( i only have 2 of them and they are at the back of my case and they are being used ) for me at the moment and the only others ports are USB 3.1 gen 1, USB 3.1 gen 2 type A and USB 3.1 gen 2 type C

I will try the USB 2 ports to see if that works or not.

Do you think its possible the usb port is going to sleep under its selective suspend mode and the game cant wake the G29 up ??

In a lot of cases it's just that the wheel is not compatible with USB 3, not saying this is your problem but it's worth a try.

Sadly no joy on the USB 2 port which makes it look like a game issue as it works with other games. I know Logitech will have a few revisions of the G29 so it could be that my revision of the G29 does not fully support Project Cars 2 maybe. Not even sure where to check to find out what revision i have.

Hi I have just tested it here and it works for me.
Can you make sure that any old Logitech drivers as uninstalled so that 8.96.81 is the only one installed. I think on Logitech they have a program to clean old drivers.
What controller does it show ?
Can you select G29 in options and does it work.

Thanks

Mike

Hi Mike,

I had the issue before i did a clean install of windows and still have it after the clean install so i dont have old drivers installed for any of my hardware. I have since disabled the logitech software from running at windows startup to rule that out as the issue but i not had enough time to test to it. In the device manager it shows as a Logitech G29 and same in game but if i uninstall the logitech software it just shows as a standard usb device in device manager and the game does not detect it. When its not detected in game i have tried custom wheel and it came up with a message about no assignable buttons or something like that related to a controller.

I tend to leave my G29 plugged to the pc and mains power in when i shut my pc down for the night so i dont know if that is causing an issue or not.

When i have the issue of the G29 not being detected by the game the G29 does interact with the game as it turns off the default centre spring effect it has from its own start up calibration spin. I hope that makes sense :)

I also had another issue that might be related where the ffb effect would degrade over time to the point where i would guess i lost 90% of all force feedback effects and no setting would bring it back and deleting the project cars 2 folder in the documents folder had no effect, not even jacks custom ffb files had any effect on bringing back the ffb effects . I managed to fix that issue by resetting the game and forcing the steam cloud to accept the game reset, i did keep my online rank but lost all other progress. So now i have the wonderful out of the box force feedback that i had on the day pCars 2 launched.

Hope this is helpful :)

For what it is worth, I am experiencing this same exact problem with the G29 on W10. Its quite frustrating spending 30-45 minutes to get the wheel to work and play the game :( .

Did you get it sorted in the meantime Gandy? Buddy of ours has the same issue with it not being recognized. He has to delete his controller config. each time he starts it up. I found this solution on the interwebz:

Guy says running the game as an administrator solved it on his end.

Poorly updated drivers most likely.
I too couldn't get the g29 to work on a usb 3, wouldn't even self calibrate, moved it over to the usb 2 port right next to it (got two of each on the front) and been working fine since.
Knock on wood.

I ended up buying a T300 and that fixed the issue, while i did move over to Build 1709 of windows 10 that made things worse with the G29 for me so got a new wheel and went back to 1703 build of windows 10 as that fixed issues with pCars 2 and other games.
