I've just noticed a few snippets of information filtering through that if true is a huge shame for both SMS and a the future of the Xbox online community. But you know, gamers aren't as compulsive as they used to be when purchasing games nowadays and SMS didn't exactly make it a difficult decision when presenting people with the choice of which racing game to take forward, so if truth be told those figures (if correct) aren't entirely unexpected.
I suppose the only saving grace is that now FMS7 is upon us news is also filtering out that it too isn't exactly the game people were expecting so if nothing else we can all smile wryly at those who thought the grass would be greener on the other side. But let's not escape the fact that October is now upon us and all that hope and expectation of the previous few months has pretty much descended into a choice between commercialised nonsense that lacks key features or a game that doesn't work properly.

Deep down did we really expect it to any different?

I would imagine that a lot of people are holding off and waiting for a more stable product, and not sucking it and seeing after the initial problems we had with PC1. However I still went for it on day one and so far pleased with purchase.

I for one am chips in for PCARS2. FM7 was the first game not preordered limited/ultimate edition since FM4 for me including the horizons. It was clear which way franchise is going since FM4. I made excuses, I equivocated... this year after putting in PCAR1 and giving it a whirl in August that SMS is moving in the right direction and that I would support them instead.
It's hard leaving your favorite game in the dust. But honestly... after some fixes this game is everything I want in Motorsports game -tracks, racecars, Indy, PWC it's brilliant. Just not working best on Xbox yet.

Since I am moving away from T10 might move to Computer and ditch the other issues. I don't really need Xbox if not doing Forza or halo anymore.

The daft thing is after the debacle launch of pc1 you would have thought the launch of pc2 given it was a week from.forza should have been perfect (not that any launch is ) but as perfect as it could be
Forza by all accounts isn't perfect and SMS had a chance ableit a slim one of really.making In roads on forza sales but they didn't

I preordered the limited edition pc2 and after an hour or so on launch day for personal reasons I missed a week and currently don't have the heart to play at least until a patch comes out or my one x comes (which ever comes first )

If there is a pc3 it may be pc only

Well after a full week of PC2 I can honestly say it’s the best racing game I’ve ever owned and played. So those people waiting and not playing it are simply just missing out.
This is coming from someone who’s lost all his career after 4 days of graft getting to the last tier, but the games that good, it just meant I could do it all again.
Even the 2nd time around it was still as awesome as the 1st time.
The games got absolutely everything you could want in a racing game and should definitely come with an addiction warning.
Happy days!!

I am not 'missing out'. I have both FM7 and PC2 and I like both.
Only PC2 deletes my career progress and FM7 doesn't. So bye bye PC2 with all its bugs.

I've actually uninstalled PC2 because the more i played it the more i realised i shouldn't be playing it. FMS7 isn't an option since finding out T10 have completely removed the class leaderboards in rivals (Ultimate pre launch edition) so for the time being i'm quite happy thundering around the ovals in Heat 2 until something more concrete emerges from Team SMS

Forza 7 has some minor issues that need patching and the online public lobbies are a demolition derby, ATM. And there are many aspects of PC2 that absolutely trump a Forza game.

Albeit, there is a vast difference between a game with minor issues and a game that cannot even be played. I can at least play the first while waiting for patches. The other would just sit on the electronic shelf and not do anyone any good. As I said, this is a very unfortunate situation for all of us. Nobody is the winner here.

I see to remember seeing this one earlier. Wasn't this only based on physical copies sold?

I almost did the same thing - ie: abandon xbox for pc. Only thing that kept me for at least another year is the xbox one X. I wanted to go to 4k but cost of video card alone is the price of the X and I'd like an X anyways so figured I'd stay with Xbox another year. I do wish they would allow PCars cross play between Xbox and PC. Maybe we'll get lucky and see that happen.

This is me I'm at top tier again after loss of career save.
The main gripe to me is the setups issue. But even that I'm starting to get around. I'm having a blast. Just complete full Indy 500 and 125laps of Texas speedway.

Onto the endurance championship where it quit out on me last time- will I get triple crown and twice top tier not sure but even if it does crap out I will do it all again because I'm having a great time racing. Would like to get achievements done and set difficulty up and not care about wining and work on some fuel/tire stats. OC in me wants to knock achievements out

Yes, i'm guessing your right but they are comparing it against same period figures of PCars 1 that also didn't include Microsoft's super secret digital sales, so you have to assume it to be a reasonably accurate guideline figure. The articles are a bit vague though and it doesn't really state if these numbers include the drop in steam sales as well as consoles.

I don't like to mention the Wolfie Smith ''power to the people'' thing but it is looking rather ominous that those who said they would never buy an SMS game again have been true to their word. Whilst some will doubtless say "their loss'', it's not.... It's everybody's loss.

Just on a (slightly) unrelated but partially relevant note: After all the trials and tribulations surrounding both Project Cars' I don't ever recall one official statement from anybody connected with the game just turning round and saying ''sorry guys'', with a few added words of reassurance... It always seems to be someone elses fault.
Little things like that go a long, long way.

my guess would be most people are probably going to wait a month or two for most of the bugs to be worked out first then swoop in and buy it.

i preordered though because i have confidence that Ian and SMS will fix the problems

I have both PC2 and FMS7. I haven't hardly played PC2 because of the unplayable wheel problem (not even done a single lap). FMS7 I fired up and was playing fine straight away. Didn't even need to adjust any wheel settings yet. I think PC2 will be better when fixed but doesn't help me now.

I can't put the game down. Wasn't hard to figure out how to setup the wheel and find settings that make it work. Been a dedicated FM guy since FM3 and I won't be going back. This is just so much better.

Think of PC2 as a real race car. It needs to be "dialed in" before it's fast in your hands.

This is the Xbox forum, not the PC. Yes, we know that the wheel works correct on the PC version of the game. The issues are isolated to the Xbox version.

if your looking for a realistic racing simulator game, PCARS2 is leaps and bounds better than Forza, and this is coming from a Forza fan which i am. PCARS2 and Assetto Corsa are the new kings of realistic racing simulator games, at least on console, both great titles.

I had Assetto Corsa on the Xbox one. Handled great but man what a boring game. No life in the console version. I could see it would be great fun though if you had some people to race against online. Loving Pcars2 so far. it's got some bugs but still lots of things to enjoy about it. I'm not sorry I bought the $90 version myself.

Yeah, I've said the same about AC, great driving model, but it's got no soul.

Not sure that PCars is accessible enough for volume console sales. The userbase were educated from PCars1 as to what project cars is. That's going to be reflected in the sales figures for the follow on.

The good news is that it is easier to make a sim more accessible and should be possible to do while keeping the hard core sim elements.

Low sales (if that's the case) serve no ones interest, so if it is the case then lets hope they pick up.

Hard to say on console. On PC, sales numbers when steam spy was working were about 20% down on PC1, but user numbers on steam are almost identical to PC1, so if sales were down then people were on average playing it more.

I think they need to bring down the price on steam - it's almost double what Amazon are selling the console version for, and rivals such as AC are much cheaper.

I imagine a lot of people are looking at ACC now as there is a significant discount while it is early access, and tomorrow (10th October) VR support is being added.

I seriously doubt that there will be a 3rd PC. I just don't think the sales ever got to what they needed it to be at. Just my opinion. I could be wrong!

Funny you should say that because after a year in the wilderness PC2 has recently re-entered the top 40 all formats games charts and is currently nose bleeding in the top 10. So congrats to SMS and let's hope their hard work over the past 12 months reaps further rewards.

I really hope this motivates them to keep working on it. There is so much potential here that it isn't even funny. :)
