MY THREAD TITLE HAS BEEN EDITED BY MODS. NICE WAY TO TAKE A SERIOUS COMPLAINT. And a hell of a lot of other rift users suffer this awful looking night time. DO THEM PICTURES LOOK FINE TO YOU?

pcars 1 looked great at night but pcars 2 has horrid colour banding, its especially prevalent in overcast and foggy conditions

night performance is also really bad, especially when you have cars behind you (light source optimization problems?), headlights also create blocky artifact shadows.

Bump. I was a strong defender of this game just before and at launch but now with this horrendous performance at dusk and night and disgusting looking nightimes on the rift as well as the countless number of bugs this game has I feel lied to.

"Built from the ground up with vr in mind" is just insulting our Intelligence. Im sorry to say I will not be defending or recommending this game anymore and can now see what all the fuss over pcars 1 was about

A disappointed customer

Try overcast or light rain at night on oculus. It doesnt look fine at all. Plus the performance is horrendous at night compared to day

It's a Trade off... Colorbanding is a big Problem on Low Resolution (Which we have on VR).

Yes, the Sky is perhaps a bit more grainy then in pCars1, but it 1. Helps the Performance 2. Does act versus the Colorbanding Problem, which is IMHO much more worse to see in VR.

So i think it was a good Decision to implement it like this.

Maybe try disabling Spud:

I'm on a Vive and with my settings I'm not getting any banding at all. I agree, your pictures look poor. But I don't see that at all.

Have you ever thought that it might be your settings and not the game at fault?
Can you post your graphic/headset settings please.

Clean out all your graphics drivers and reinstall afresh.

Oculus Rift on 1080 with latest drivers and not seeing same as your pics show, the nights look great. I would do as snakehands suggests as it must be something about your pc installation. Maybe it is an extreme step but if I were you I would consider reinstalling the Oculus drivers completely as well as checking the rest of my Win10 install is working 100%. Hope you do get it sorted.

Rift VR is working perfectly at dusk/night for me. Even in a rainstorm at night the picture remains good. I'm using the standard in game settings on a 1080Ti, latest drivers etc, Win 10 game mode. I'd share some video but I'm new here so not able to yet.

Interesting that you're using game mode when the prevailing wisdom is not to use it. Have you tried it without?

No, I haven't specifically tried pcars2 in VR with game mode off as it has run well from day 1. Game mode seems to work well on my system, I get consistently higher framerates on a range of games in 4K (Gears, FH3, FM7, WRC7) and no stress or overheating on the system too. Since game mode was introduced I get far fewer system crashes during gaming but that is just my experience ofcourse.
